Pickett out multiple weeks if not season

After the Pats game-regardless of outcome, the Steelers need to give Herbig some work at center and let Cole get some reps at guard. If he keeps worm burning snaps, they need to make the switch.

Hopefully they have been doing that all along..
He is the backup center ....correct?

I thought they have McCallom or McCullom from preseason on their practice squad-but as far as actual dressed guys, he’s backup guard and center. I don’t know where Spencer Anderson fits in. If Seamalu can’t go-it’ll be Herbig starting

The bad part now....is that I believe he feels that way also.....that is why we are seeing his play regress this season.
Last season he was a rookie and playing on pure adrenaline, now reality is setting in for him.
He wouldn't be the 1st QB drafted high that just couldn't handle the hits and ended up playing "scared" thus ruining his effectiveness.

Yep....you are correct.

Its a shame...but how could the Steeler not see that being the kid shared the same practice facility as them?

AS they liked to tell us when we drafted Kenny..."we got the opportunity to watch and get to know him for the past several years"...

I think it is simpler than that as it has been revealed that he has been playing on a bad ankle for weeks. He toughed it out pretty well. ALso explains some of the inaccuracy if you can't set your feet well. Getting him healthy and then keeping him that way with better blocking and scheme. He gets another year to prove himself.

That's pretty much all they can do. It's not like they'll be drafting in the top 10 and they damn sure are not giving away multiple first round picks to move up.

I'm fairly certain they'll sign a free agent qb in the offseason.

Or just maybe he is completely frustrated with what Tomlin is trying to pass off as an Offensive philosophy. Couple that with a bad ankle that has been reported for weeks, and this could very well be what you are seeing.

There is no way in hell that you give up on your 1st round QB, unless you are more interested in preserving your HC's team legacy. I just find it very hard to believe that EVERY QB for the past number of years has underachieved because they suck, especially when one of them is a 1st ballot HOF'er.

Without a COMPLETELY new team philosophy, I believe we never find out what KP is capable of. Maybe he just turns out to be a journeyman B/U QB, maybe he is just a journeyman starting QB for his career. Journeyman QB's have done well in the NFL, some win playoff games, a few have even won Super Bowls. He is currently NOT the biggest problem with this team, hell he is probably not even top 5-10.

I give Mitch the first two or three drive and if he doesn't produce In comes Rudy. Mason has got to be better than what we say out of Mitch Sunday.

My prediction, and I would bet on it, is that the top two qbs are kept as status quo next year and a late round pick is added as qb3…

They resigned Trubisky to have stability

The only way this changes is if Mitch throws a ton of picks and fumbles a bunch down the stretch… in which case Rudolph will probably just assume Mitch’s position as backup

Tomlin favors lack of interceptions over scoring…

Mitch is usually good for 2 picks. Or 2 turnovers of some kind. He worries me. But he will play unless he gets injured. Belichick will bring heat on Mitch like a summer day in Texas.

I do not see what the Steelers see in Trubisky he does not impress me and yes with the tight ends and the running backs he is ok but to his wide receivers he tries to hard to thread the needle I hope he gets better with time because we need a sting offense to get into the playoffs

Maybe they are thinking he is a better runner than Mason? And behind this offense line you gotta move.

I dont think either QB played terrible today, the calls were questionable and the line was horrible. We had no answer for AZs blitzes. Pickett missed some reads, but he was not the reason we lost. Dumb penalties, horrible blocking, bad snaps, defense getting run gashed, etc etc...QB play is pretty far down the list today.
No, poor QB play is NOT far down on the list, it's right near the top of the list. Did you not see such plays as the one with Najee standing there wide open for an obvious 1st down pass play and Kenny just didn't throw him the ball? Kenny just doesn't either see obvious open players or can't decide to throw them the ball in time, period.

You know warriors,I get what you’re saying. Believe me. But we’re kind of stuck in between a rock and a hard place here. I mean,we were giving Kenny all game to get under 200 yards and zero TD passes, pretty well for the last 2 years.

Now Mitch is supposed to light it up instantly? I will say the same for Mason. If he sucks for a game, even though he hasn’t played for ,let’s face it,3-4 years he will instantly be a scrub?
And it’s not like I’m defending these two. I’ve said it many times,I never wanted Mitch or Mason signed when they were.
The real interesting thing will be,what if someone absolutely lights it up? Will they keep Kenny out?

When it comes to the issues on offense, I'd probably put 1. QB play, 2. Offensive scheme/playbook, 3. Offensive line play 4. Lacking true playmakers. Now, outside factors I'd consider factors that this team (players and coaches) don't take winning seriously and think they can win just by showing up. I don't think they put in the work necessary during the week to win consistently on Sundays.

What is the recovery time for tight rope ankle surgery?

Syndesmosis with Tightrope Fixation | Orthopedic Specialists

Post-operative Care Following Syndesmosis with TightRope Fixation. The splint is worn for a period of 6-12 weeksduring which time you must not bear any weight on the leg. After this period, the foot is placed in a walking boot with minimal weight-bearing and gentle ankle movements.
Sounds like IR to me...
