Pirates 2018

Hopefully this is the season Polanco stays healthy and realizes his potential as a hitter.

If it doesn't happen this year, it likely never will as it's approaching four years since he first reached the majors.

I wasn't expecting that offensive eruption on day 1 but I'll take it. The hitting looked to be far in front of the pitching on both teams. That needs to change because they aren't going to score 13 runs every game lol.
 
surprised out the offensive outburst, for sure.
concerned about the bullpen's performance, since i felt that was one of our strengths.
only 162 more games to go...
 
Woohoo 2-0 world series here we come!
 
Game 1, win an offensive shootout......check.
Game 2, win in a pitchers' duel............check.

One thing i have to say is they make the games entertaining. I also like their grit so far. Every game could have gone either way but they pulled it out. The bullpen needs to wake up though

Most of the bullpen is made up of young guys without much major league experience. I expect them to be up and down for awhile. Glasnow, Neverauskus (no idea how to spell it), Santana and Feliz are all pretty green still. I've been pretty thrilled with the starting pitching so far overall. That's what I have been most concerned with.

3-0 with 159 to go lol.

One question mark might have been answered yesterday. Taillon looked awfully sharp, looks like we can check the box
for, Will Taillon have a better year and begin to dominate?
 
My biggest concern for this team is their middle relief....
Starting pitching is ok...and our closer is outstanding..

I believe our offense (El Coffee is percolating!) and defense will be better than last years version.

Hoping for an 85-90 win season...I believe its not out of reach..

Starting pitching today looks like he's fizzling.
Minnesota is getting hits on Nova now.

Pirates have a good defense. Harrison is everywhere.
Josh Bell hit a homer earlier. Could be a fun season

Nova was doing fine until he came out for the 6th inning. Didn't look like the same guy. And the bullpen continues to be erratic.
 
Serage needs to get Glasnow to reach his capability...

The kid has all the tools to be an outstanding pitcher...

BTW---looked like a late season Steeler game last night at PNC...

With "spring" weather like that...is when I dont miss the Burgh...

Glasnow has a nice curve.
Tall and lanky, his pitch doesn't have to fly far.

The weather was crazy.
On and off snow.
Would have been a fun game if the Pirates didn't melt down
 
Hopefully the weather is influencing the pitching. Not going to win many games if we have to score 6+ rund
 
Only the first game was really a gift game. This team is better than most think. Frazier is a good bat and they don't have a place to even play him.
 
Tonight in the top of the 8th, 14 runs and counting for the Buccos. Staring 6-1 right in the face.
