Pound the Table - Love or Hate

I was watching one of the NFL shows and they think the Steelers would even grab Milroe in the 1st. They are in a bad spot with no 2nd round pick. I hope they don't reach for a QB in the 1st and just take what's there in the 3rd or 4th. We need a top end DL very badly. Try to get a 1st round QB next year.

No QB in the first. D-Line or Jeanty if he miraculously fell to us. If a partner appears for a trade down i would take it as long as we get a possible Cam replacement. With a Trade down and the right guys falling I would consider Hampton late first or early second if the right deal to also get a DL. D-Line is far and away the most important since we let Ogunjobi walk and we couldn't stop the run when Cam was off the field. We have to get two.

With other first round picks playing at their natural positions
Every single tackle drafted last year in the first round was played on the opposite side from college.

These are highlights but you tell me what you see wrong w/ Sanders game at QB. Everyone loved how Ben stayed in the pocket and created plays - I see the same style...

Watch it all but DEFINITELY start from the 11:00 min mark:

I don't know how anyone can be upset w/ selecting the most accurate QB in the draft, if he's available...

I have been up and down on him and not for any other reason trying to figure out if his game will translate to highly productive Sundays.

I have been a high proponent on having to swing until you get that home run. I like Dart and Howard for various reasons. Sanders is a wild card. I think he will be off the board by 21. So if the Steelers love him they will have to trade up.

Also in the group that thinks next year isn’t guaranteed to be “the year” to draft a QB.

In regards to drafting a QB the here and now should always take front and center over what might be in the future.

Swing batter batter swing.

Harmon, Grant and Nolan would all help the most significant need other than QB and I don’t see anyone worth taking that would be around pick 21. I won’t throw things if Dart or Sanders is the pick but both need serious coaching, Dart focusing on one receiver, Sanders holding the ball too long and deep ball.

Emmanwori would be a nice get, does many things well and could see him playing everywhere in the defensive backfield and linebacker, except corner.

I don't want the headache that is Deion Sanders, I hope Sanders is gone before we pick so we can't take him, I don't think he's going to do anything in the NFL, Kenny Pickett 2.0, not a big arm, takes sacks, doesn't have pocket presence. I'd much rather try to trade into round 2 and get Milroe instead of taking Sanders in round 1.

Would love a beast DL, but Tomlin refused to use a legit DL, 85% he's just using 2 DL, of course if they can find a rookie to start right away and be real good next to Cam, maybe that will force teams to stop dedicating so many guys to Watt

100% agree...who knows what the future holds...

Amen. I'm really liking Sanders quick release on the short and intermediate passes. His deep ball is pretty accurate too...

Since he played in an NFL style offense I'm feeling better about his translation to the NFL over the other prospects ('specially those in a 'system' offense).

What is his daddy going to do? This team is already in disarray not sure Sanders can add more to it. Would the downside bring a HC change? Not sure that is a negative.

If I don’t want Sanders it would be for what he couldn’t do on the field not what daddy brings. For me the QB position is on life support. We just need to not close our eyes until it is fixed…

I see your logic here.

I am still hearing Milroe will be a surprise early pick so let's see if that comes true. I'm warming up to Sanders as I've stated all morning.

Here's the thing about the DL - we're no longer a 3-4 team primarily. Our base defense has shifted to nickel and subsequently we need two DLs on the defensive line. Benton is coming along nicely and I'm sure the FO has done their work in this area. So, I'm not panicking if they miss on the top 3.

QB, however, is a whole 'nother animal. I believe most want us to float Rudy out there (and I support him 100%) just to see if the "non-losing season streak will end" or potentially be the spark to get a new HC. I don't see it that way and I don't mind being wrong, if the following statement is untrue:

"Coach Tomlin will leave on his terms but will try to leave his successor in a better state than the current state of the organization is."

Like @slashsteel, I'm swinging for the fences trying to find that QB to 'win now'...

Sanders does some things that I like, his pocket presence for one, he steps up and scans, unlike Pickett who seemed to always roll left, losing sight of his receivers and getting sacked. I’m worried about Sanders’ arm strength and will the Steelers allow him to do what he does best, accuracy over the middle. That ball slap before he throws needs to go as well, it’s an unnecessary split second delay that could be the difference between a defensive back or lineman deflecting a pass or sack.

People love the KP comparisons but it just isn’t true. KP drifted into pressure and had one good year. With a long college career. We knew the risks we just had hoped he arrived. He didn’t.

Fans are nervous about failing but these prospects are completely different.

What I like about Sanders is his accuracy.

If he can maintain that at the NFL level he can be productive. It wasn’t like the Buffaloes OLine inflated his college success, they didn’t. He has enough athleticism to scramble in the pocket. His arm strength looks like it might be adequate. But **** you are going to have questions regardless. Just because he isn’t my favorite prospect doesn’t make him my least.

I like bigger QBs which is why I like Howard as he has some similar traits. I like Dart for his yards per average increasing yearly.

Sanders for me again isn’t a favorite but I wouldn’t lose sleep if they gave him a spin. I always value accuracy as a high intangible… Sanders has that going for him.

I am sure they will eliminate that ball slap or maybe that will be his passing game fake RB handoff. For me not really a concern. That is fixable.

True, but who knows with him. He is getting his sons jersery retired at Colorado LOL. You're right, how much worse can it get here LOL. I'm building the roster this year and taking my shot at one of the QB's next year, everyone is saying the QB crop next year is much better than this years.

Because daddy has a say in anything Steelers do? Yeah he can do dumb things at Colorado because he coaches there. I would worry more if the Steelers hired him as a HC.

I know the majority think next year is the year. But there isn’t a guarantee that Manning is even coming out, declaring. Then who is a stud behind him? I have been zooming in. Some potential to like. But potential is that until it turns into repetition.

That still might be the majority thought when it is all said and done when next years draft approaches. Damn sure will have better draft capital if it does pan out.

If. Playing if games and not attacking the here and now is a dangerous game.

No he doesn't have a say, but supposedly he and Tomlin are pretty good friends, and I've had enough of "Tomlins friends"

Those friends you disliked he hired or not? I would worry more if they hired the guy.

We just don’t have the perfect situation. Many think the team needs a reboot and we aren’t getting that.

I just think you always have to focus in on talent, the Steelers will have huge areas of concern no matter who they bring in at QB.

For me just keep bringing that talent in. Do I want a trade up? No. I think that lack of a 2nd is going to make your concerns a moot point regardless. I just don’t see the Steelers trading up. I also don’t see Sanders falling to 21. Too many needy QB teams IMO for that to take place.

Emmanwori's size and speed are very intriguing. I could easily see Tomlin going for him over a DL. I still think DL should be our pick at 21 but Emmanwori would be fun to watch.

And Shadeur is a head case, said "he changed the game and turned Colorado into a winning culture, that's why he deserves to get his jersey retired" LOL
How did he change the game? Wasn't he 8-10 as a starter at Colorado?

I thought it was ridiculous to retire his jersey. But Shadeur doesn’t carry that blame. That is 100 percent on daddy.

Agreed, but to say he changed the game? LOL that's ridiculous and he has a losing record, but turned colorado into a winning culture? Again, ridiculous.

He's 13-12 as the starter for the Buffs. 9-4 this last year. They had ONE win the year before Deion showed up and brought his sons and Hunter. That's pretty impressive for a smaller school to improve that much in just two years. Let's not forget that team is NOT littered with NFL talent. There's Shedeur, Hunter and then anyone else is most likely an UDFA, including Shilo.
