Steelers Add 10 Players To The Practice Squad

Team resumes practice on Monday in advance of their Week 1 game versus the Cleveland Browns at Heinz Field.
The Steelers have signed 10 players to the team’s practice squad, the team announced today.

The Steelers signed wide receivers C.J. Goodwin and Derek Moye, offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva, defensive backs Shaquille Richardson and Ross Ventrone, defensive linemen Josh Mauro and Nick Williams, running back Josh Harris, tight end Rob Blanchflower and linebacker Howard Jones.

The Steelers resume practice on Monday at approximately 10:45 a.m. in advance of their Week 1 game versus the Cleveland Browns at Heinz Field.

I'm surprised they didn't add any of the guys they cut prior to the game Thursday. Guess it wasn't a smoke screen. Glad HoJo is on there though.

Great news on getting Mauro, Jones and Williams back. Villanueva is the 6`9'' ex Army player

Well good to see Mauro make it thru waivers and signed to the PS. As well as Howard Jones...............

Pretty much those first cuts before the 4th Pre Season game are the guys that have zero chance of being asked back.

A little surprised about Goodwin making it. Isn't he the kid Mel was pimping that was injured through a good portion of camp. Also, I thought Villanueva was a Defensive Lineman while with Philly during camp; they're asking him to switch?

No... they were.

Alejandro Villanueva didn’t make the 53-man roster in Philadelphia, but he found a job with Pennsylvania’s other team.

Villanueva, who played at West Point and served as an Army Ranger in Afghanstan before returning to football, has been added to the Steelers practice squad. The Steelers list Villanueva as an offensive lineman, which he played in college before making the rare move from tackle to wide receiver, while the Eagles were trying the 6-foot-9 prospect as a defensive lineman.

He is the one. Probably the most athletic of the non-roster receivers in camp, but also one that didn't produce like some of the others. Would rather take a risk on size and speed on the practice squad than a more dependable option with little to no upside.

I was legitimately worried that HoJo would not clear waivers, alot of other franchises need help on special teams. He could realistically be James Harrison Light in a couple of years.

We are trying to turn Alejandro Villanueva into an OT.

He played OL in College, He also played WR too. Maybe he becomes Ben's big receiver. 6-9 tackle who can also catch?

How can you not want a guy who's fired live rounds at terrorists?

And some think our coaching staff and FO have no idea how to make decisions...

You mean the front office that wasted a #1 pick on Jarvis, the front office that wasted a pick and another roster spot on Landry Jones, you mean the front office that employs an idiot as our head coach or the coaching staff that loses games constantly against the bottom feeders?

Is there anything you like about the team that you root for?

Yeah love the 8-8 mediocrity the con man Tomlin has turned us into.

Ahhh Sarcasm ... that didn't answer the question though.

I don't owe you **** but keep up the arrogant better fan than you ****. This team is heading in the wrong direction hasn't won a playoff game in 4 years and counting and has a con man that has no clue on how to right the ship.

blah blah blah ... Tomlin ... blah blah Con ... blah blah ... Sorry, not being drawn into the name calling, argumentative, etc. flame war thing. But hey, thanks for your input and opinion.

Again, you're cherry picking facts.

Tomlin's worst record is 8-8, and he's never had a losing season. Bill Cowher went 6-10 TWICE before he won his first SB.

Tomlin is still the youngest HC to win a SB, and the youngest HC with two appearances. And he did so with the same team that Cowher went 8-8 with the year he retired.

And what was last year's record again?

That history says the Steelers are right on track.

You're just an angry fan with unreasonable expectations...

Jarvis, while he wasn't my favorite choice when picked - and everyone knows how upset I was about it; but, he's a Steeler and his ceiling was just too high to pass up. He was thrown into Coach LeBeau's complex defense as a rookie and he'll get a chance to play, in his second year, with the game a bit slower and more knowledge of the system.

I can't explain why Landry is still here, but, I don't get paid by the Rooney's to provide analysis on the subject - so, he's a Steeler too and I just have to accept that.

I suggest you go back and look at Coach Tomlin's record. Idiots don't last long in the NFL.

Did you have these same complaints in the Noll and Cowher eras???

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Steel Not A Player again.
