I don't understand why NFL teams are resting starters in week 3 preseason. I get it that they always used to rest for game 4 to be fresh for the regular season, but there's a bye week after the 3rd preseason game. Most teams will have 14 days off between preseason game 3 and the regular season. I think teams should be playing the starters a full half in game 3.

because game 3 is TWO weeks before the season opener just like when there were 4 games. Dont wanna play the starters 3 weeks before the opener, defeats the purpose of staying sharp time wise.
