Either him or Eddie Faulkner. Tomlin said he was “really excited” about Faulkner. That pretty much tells me that unless the offense is markedly worse the next 8 games that they likely aren’t going outside the organization.
Well, they've just done something that hey had not in 80 years (fired a coach mid-season). So, I'm not going to assume it's "business as usual" until I see it. It could be, for sure, but it's also possible that the Rooneys are not done making changes and doing something like hiring an OC from out-of-house. If they are sick of this Shades' circus act, they can mandate who the new OC is. We can always hope. Shades had little to do with the Haley hiring nor some others. ACT, Duecie, ACT. Take control of this team, Duecie.

We should have the horses to be a competitive offense. PF, Heyward, and Washington are not bad TEs. Pickens and Johnson are good 1 and 2 WRs and the guys behind should be alright. Our 2 backs are good. The line is an issue, but I think alot of it is mental or communication errors. Too many guys coming through unblocked. We could use some physical upgrades as well, but i think they would be serviceable if mental errors were fixed. I liked Sarge's suggestion of following SF offense. I think our players are our our can be comparable to theirs.
I think they are short a WR. But definitely see the need to continue in the trenches.

if the QB situation doesn't reverse I am looking in that direction as well. (For competition)

Jim Harbaugh. His time in MI might be over after this year. he is a former NFL QB has an offensive mind set. he is the winning-est coach in U of M history. He also coached the 49rs to a Superbowl.

I don't give two ***** about his crybaby brother or the **** that is going on in MI right now. I want someone that can help this team win. I don't have to like someone for them to be successful I will never personally sit down and talk to any NFL coach let alone break bread with them.

Count me out on Harbaugh 2.0, Belicheater, or McDaniels… I want no part of any of them in any way.

And Harbaugh has ultimately been nothing but a problem everywhere he has gone…

For the love of god no more internal hires.

Arians, Fitchner, Canada were all promoted from within when their boss was shown the door because the offense was collectively terrible. Stop the madness

What functional organization does this??

How about we get someone electrifying?
Someone who's proven to be beyond our imagination?
Someone who can provoke an offense and ridicule a defense?
Someone who has been called crazy?
A guy who has given furniture to those lower on the economic rung and praises also God?
A guy who has ran multiple businesses, met with and been humbled by police officers in his area?
A guy who was a generational talent when playing, came from a poor background and is a self-made man?

AND would fit the "hire from within" thingy!

I think you're on to something with this suggestion and I'm buying!!!

Save me a seat on this wagon...
Some NFL HC(s) is/are getting fired towards the end of the season and/or as soon as the offseason begins. Harbaugh will be a hot name for those jobs. Hell, Harbaugh to the Raiders kinda makes sense in an "Al's son is just like his dad" kinda way. Harbaugh ain't taking an OC position.

Why bother?

The last 2 or 3 coordinators have just been Tomlin "yes men".

Same ole ****, different day.

So ... Let's just hire a cheater and lose all self respect AND games.

Awesome!

Saying Tomlin doesn't control the offensive scheme is like saying 44 doesn't control 46. Not meaning this in a political sense, but you get my drift.

I just hope they take their time and do a full search of outside candidates and not anyone named harbaugh, they are all ******* whiny *******

That is imperative to high level success or massive failure. They wasted 3 years on this OC. Hire the best for your organization.

I think you misread what I wrote (and definitely don't understand my feelings on Harbaugh - read the name again).

A "problem" meaning taking bad teams and turning them into contenders, THAT kind of "problem?" Stanford was a nothing, nobody team. He turned them into winners. The 9ers were cellar dwellers before JH and he took them to the Super Bowl where he was a "power outage" away from winning it. Michigan University was nothing but OSU's step sister until JH took over. I'm not saying I want JH as HC, but to disparage his results is not all-together accurate.

There's a little recency bias in that statement. Harbaugh is still only 2 - 5 against tOSU. I know he won the last two, but it's in the books that he lost the first 5.

He would never work under Tomlin. Tomlin will get a young buckaroo, happy to get a shot at OC in the NFL, only to get smothered.

Rooney approves of this method.

I don't think Ben is ready to come back as a coach... maybe after he gets the yellow jacket???
Ben spending 16 hours a day coaching and watching film? Ben couldn’t do that as a high paid quarterback for 4 hours a day. Ben just knows football and is a natural. I don’t think he would be a good coordinator. He’s happy eating potato chips, drinking his microbrews and podcasting with Spencer.

No kidding. Who the hell would want that high stress lifestyle, when he has the stress free lifestyle.

But if he did want to do it, you certainly know it wouldn't be for the money, since they pay chicken feed compared to what he made as a qb.

Plus if **** goes bad ,everyone hates you. You're either hero or zero in that job.

I'd hire Billy Slowik as HC and Klint Kubiak (currently the 9ers passing game specialist) or Brian Griese (currently the 9ers QB Coach)

Here's a short list where I'd like them to look:

Ken Dorsey (former Bills OC), Darrell Bevell (Dolphins QB coach/passing game coordinator), Klint Kubiak (49ers QB coach/passing game coordinator), Anthony Lynn (49ers RB coach/assistant head coach), Kevin Patullo (Eagles passing game coordinator/associate head coach), Zac Robinson (Rams QB coach/passing game coordinator), David Girardi (Chiefs QB coach), Joe Bleymaier (Chiefs passing game coordinator).

Reid, Shanahan, and McVay are probably the best offensive minds in the game and Shanahan and McVay both have a growing coaching tree. Dorsey had a successful offense until Allen decided to turn into a turnover machine. Bevell is more of a veteran option with years of experience with multiple teams. Working under McDaniel should only expand Bevell's playbook. Lynn would add a former HC to the roster and a coach who would help emphasize the ground game.

I could imagine a pissed off AB ripping off his shirt and prancing around after an O-lineman missed his block.

If that don't send a message, I don't know what would.

Peyton Manning. I know, never happen as he makes too much doing what he is doing now, but he knows the game and offensive playcalling.

Even if he was doing nothing, the pay for an OC is peanuts. You have to do it for the love and desire to win a championship as a coach because the money is nothing. Well not compared to what any superstar HOF type qb made.

It doesn't mean he'd be a great OC either. Most great players make for ****** coaches.

The odds are not in your favor it will end well.
