Report: AB hurls slur toward Mayock, then offers ’emotional’ apology

Because it's a new season we are 0-0 we don't have that distraction anymore. We got a great LB using the pick we got for Brown.

And we are looking like the toast of the league right now for getting the picks for him.

But hey don't let me stop you from hating on Tomlin , carry on.

Here We Go Steelers, Here We Go !

You still don't see it? Let me make it clear. The reason why you think this year is going to be great is because the locker room is clear of the cancer. So that means before this year there was a cancer right? So Tomlin kept the cancer on the team for years wasting the HOF QB he had. But somehow that is a good thing? Now Tomlin is great because AB finally blew up and forced them to trade him? That's a good thing?

But hey don't let me stop you from praising someone who basically wasted almost a decade of a HOF QBs career. Carry on.

Tomlin did the same thing Gruden is doing except it was kept in house. He allowed him to miss meetings and practices. He'd show up late and Tomlin did nothing. It wasn't until JuJu won that stupid award and Ben criticized him on air that AB went public with any of this. After that all the other stuff that Tomlin let slide came out. It's not Tomlin's fault AB is a moron. It is his fault that he let it infest the locker room for several years. Yes, he did a great job covering it up and letting AB run the ship. But when AB was ready for it to come out Tomlin couldn't stop it. That man on man talk was years to late. You can't sit him down now after letting him get by with it all this time. AB probably asked him WTF he's talking about.... you going to try and get tough now? That's why he expected to play against the bungles. He knew all the other times Tomlin caved.

That’s a good point. I also think we’ve downgraded in leadership from our captains back when we had Ward, Miller, Farrior and more veteran guys that led by example, especially on defense. The team decided to focus their investments on the offense and AB’s role became more prominent. He got a lot of breaks because he worked hard and put up numbers. The only one holding him back was Ben until it got out of hand and went public.

At the end of the day, it all starts from the top.
They should have put AB in the doghouse the moment he yelled a LeBeau back in 2012. The whole team would have backed that move and set the tone.

That’s why Belichick is the greatest coach and GM of all time. They set the tone with leaders and back them up. Anyone interested in that should watch the Willie McGinest and Lawrence Taylor “A Football Life” documentaries. Good stuff.

How so exactly? Thru the draft, we have invested heavily on the defensive side going back many years.

Gruden and Mayock set the tone, how did that work out?

Didn't cost them a dime and if he screws up in NE they'll do the exact same thing. The only difference is that people know NE won't put up with it as long as the Raiders did.

Also there is a difference setting a tone when you have a 6th round pick that has just signed (and doesn't have much guaranteed money) his second contract and a vet. Something about old dogs and new tricks. Maybe if Tomlin puts the hammer down AB can be stopped before he gets started. I know it didn't work for the Steelers. He's been a diva longer than just last year. Tomlin hide it well but it was probably fracturing the locker room for no telling how long. Clark suggested it started the day he got his $$$ on his first contract after his rookie deal.

Gruden and Mayock set the tone, how did that work out?

You call that setting the tone? He came late and didn’t show up to practice, didn’t pay attention when he was there, and acted like a total fool. What did Gruden do? Absolutely nothing. Instead, he praised the guy in the media and kept making excuses for him. All is fine, etc. bs. They supported him 100% throughout the helmet crap.

They didn’t take action even after he threatened to hit Mayock and called him a cracker in front of the team. Gruden was still going to start him!!! Unfreakingbelievable!
It wasn’t until he posted Gruden’s conversation that they finally did something. The only reason they did that was because they knew they would have to pay him the $30m if he played.

It was all a business decision. Nothing to do with a coach and GM setting the tone on discipline through respect and solid leadership.

Patriots don’t **** around from Day 1. Not even Brady shows up late for meetings.

Check out James Harrison’s comparisons of Tomlin and Belichick. The way they run their business is like no other and that’s why they’re consistently the best.

How in the world has the league not looked into the threat and racial slur . The lady covering the Raiders said this happened and no one but Brown said the racial slur did not happen

The GM is white and the player is black. That's all you need to know.
