The Pittsburgh Steelers offense in 2023 is responsible for averaging just 12.6 points per game. Many believed that Offensive Coordinator Matt Canada would be fired immediately after the game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 5 if the unit sputtered. There have been no reports of that happening as the team enters the bye week, but a shocking report came to light on Monday morning. Pittsburgh might just be all in on Canada after all.

Not sure how anyone could say that Leftwich is definitely "not the answer".
Why not?
I am assuming many people think his success in Tampa was really The Bruce running the Offense. I don’t know either way. But I sure can’t see why he couldn’t be brought on as a consultant at the very least.

Not sure why he is unemployed right now though. Maybe the right opportunity for him has not presented itself.

Byron likes to throw every 3rd pass between the hashmarks, which is way too many.
Lol I don’t think you are that far off…

It’s what we have been saying since Fitchner left and The O more or less stayed impotent…..

The O is exactly what they want it to be… they just want it to magically work better….

They want a safe ball control offense with all the passes outside the numbers except for a couple preordained deep shots and whatever happens in the 2 minute drill before half and the end of the game… they don’t want quick strikes and they will happily trade off scoring points for few turnovers…

Bro... kick his tires. Our OC didn't even realize Pickett to Pickens is an option in this offense!!!
He would be an improvement over Canada but so would a literal rock. I want someone new and innovating not someone who rode Marcia's coattails. My cousin at PFF says he is not well regarded for the position. There is a reason he doesn't have job currently and is begging for one.

The issue is and has always been with the HC Tomlin. This is his hire to run his offense the way he wants it run.
Ball control, low risk, extremely conservative, win with defense. That his signature all over this thing.
The problem is you cannot win today with that philosophy especially against the high caliber teams in the AFC.
His type of football will grind out some wins against the bad teams in the league, slug it out against rivals like the Browns, Ravens. Just enough to squeak out 8 or 9 wins and keep a non losing record in tact. And maybe just maybe with the added wild card spot, pick up a playoff spot.
Then life is all well in Rooneyland and he’s had a successful season. That’s how Steelers football works today.
I was watching 49ers dismantle the Cowboys last night and so wished this was the Steelers.
We used to be like this a long time ago but we completely lost focus and now non losing seasons are good enough.

Matt Canada has been so bad how could anyone else taking over not be a positive?
Because if they hire Lefty or anyone else as OC or “offensive consultant” that would be admitting that Shades was wrong and the fans were right. As we know, Shades never EVER admits a mistake. He would take being winless and scoreless the rest of the season and losing his precious “never a losing season” streak before he’ll fire his guy and admit he made a mistake and a bad hire. After the season when Canaduh’s contract is up it will be Shades telling Deuce and Omar that he wants him back.

Leftwich didn't go to William and Mary.
Leftwich is smarter than Tomlin.
Two main reasons Tomlin won't take the calls.
Being they are skimpy with how many coaches they have I was thinking that was more in line with why they won't give him a shot. Just guessing of course...

It’s odd how Tomlin receives all this love from the main stream media but a coach like Mike McCarthy who has a similar coaching record with the Packers has already been fired. And with the Cowboys has had as much if not more success than Tomlin and most likely will get booted again.
Very strange that Tomlin can be so shielded and insulated after mediocre results. Very odd!

If this is even remotely true... I'm going to break something else this week!!!

😡😡😡😡😡😡
Eh, what exactly could Leftwich do at this point? It would still be Canada's offense/play design. Leftwich would just be another voice in KP8's head (Sullivan, Thomas and Canada right now). And, if he were brought on and the offense still was **** (most likely to happen), he could actually do damage to his aspirations to become an OC again.
If they're interested in Lefty, bring him in to interview for the OC position at the end of the year.

Eh, Cowher could have stuck around longer if he wanted to and his coaching record was similar to Tomlin's too.
The "Rooney Way" and all that.

Why not?

Did the Buccaneers feature jets sweeps and receivers running 20-yards on patterns that wound up 4 yards beyond the line of scrimmage and as far away from the QB as possible? Huh? Huh??

Well there you go.

Well if Tomlin is going to shill for Canada to stay, then he should go with him.

I just don't get it. Is it ego? The results are definitely in. The entire NFL can see it. It's a completely wasted season again in mediocre land.

They can talk about wanting to win championships all they want to the players and media, but it's absolutely nonsense.
