The Pittsburgh Steelers are continuing their slew of roster moves by officially releasing Allen Robinson II in a much anticipated move. He showed his age in a not so productive 2023 season, and his release proves that his veteran presence in the locker room was not enough of a reason for the Steelers to hold on to his big contract. The move officially puts the Steelers in the market for a starting-caliber third wide receiver, whether it be through free agency or the 2024 NFL Draft.

Thank You Steelers! That’s what, a 10 mill cap savings?
Wonder where that leaves us now with this slug gone and Patrick Peterson!
In addition to Chucks and Mitch.
Got to be around 25-30 mill under I suspect.
Anyone know for sure?

About 26 million per my guestimate.

Please, spend that money wisely Omar and Andy and no Russ Wilson.
Should be able to free up more cap space if they do something with Larry O contract and add some years to Cams to spread it out some.

I wasn’t on the Wilson train when it was going to cost something, now that it could possibly cost nothing for year one, I say go all in. They can reevaluate his deal next offseason, after a year of seeing what he has left.

Tomlin Buddy released? I guess he was not that much of a "buddy"

New sheriffs in town have to have them happy and focused on the improvement of the team. Tomlin knows he has to give nod to this with feeling some heat.

Tomlins master plan is taking shape.

It better have included some "off the record" talks with agents of FA players before the legal tampering period. Because, so far this offseason they've: created a bigger need at Center, WR and CB. Not that any of those positions weren't worthy of an upgrade.

I will not paint this with a broad brush. They were junior varsity all of them, obviously. In the process of turning over every stone we will not seek comfort. We will defend every damn blade of glass in route to the lab. So volunteers only.. hostages will be escorted to the door.

I mean worse case the cap space rolls over,

Though I guess real worse case is that we sign some two bit no one player to a massive overpriced deal then have to cut them next year 🤣

I'm thinking the same way. Since Wilson is expected to sign for the vet minimum, thanks to Denver paying him around 38 million to play for someone else, why not. Even if he has lost a step, he's still a better option than what we have now. If it doesn't work out, it will cost less than bringing in some other average vet for a few million.

Let Picket sit behind him and keep learning for another year at least without the pressure. I worry the pressure will be too great on Picket next year with all the negative comments about him this off-season. If he starts out struggling at all as the starter, media and many fans will be calling for his head. Let him sit behind Wilson for a year, or bring him in if Wilson gets injured with lowered expectations off the bench to build his confidence.

Yep, Khan wants to actively keep improving the roster and leave the greatest coach ever less excuses for yet another one of his years in the groundhog cycle.

will the magician be able to do the impossible trick? Tomlin proof a roster??? Sure as hell can't with old overpaid under-talented players.

If the goal is to put Pickett behind Russ then ya may as well shop Pickett now. Russ ain't leading any team to the promised land and they might be able to get some idiot team to cough up a 4th-6th for Pickett with 2 years left on a cheap QB deal.

Vet minimum and Cancerous Russ as the backup option (I'd hate to see him on the team) but it makes a ton more sense than KP needing a watch year at this point in his career.

Robinson just didn't have it on the field anymore. It opens up space to bring in some hopefully more dynamic players.

No, this is a make or break year for Pickett, you can't go to his final year without knowing if he is your QB of the future

We can not cut everyone......In our secondary we basically have Porter and Minkah. Rest of the CBs are iffy or question marks at best. ILB we should be OK as long as we stay healthy, but we could use an upgrade. OLBs we are good, DL we are hurting. On offense we have one QB who most everyone hates, 2 disgruntled WRs and no real WR3 unless you are counting CAIII. We have no center, one OT, and our OGs are OK. We are alright at TE/FB/RB, and we have no punter. Im not mad at the cuts exactly, but now we have so many holes its going to take some magic to fill them w/ competent players let alone try to find depth.
