Rodgers Signing with Black n’ Gold

I see Rodgers taking matters into his own hands and improvising, much like Ben did (with some success) at times later in his career. This guy knows what he's doing out there; he's not going to allow himself to be shackled by Tomlin or anyone else. What are the Steelers going to do if he doesn't comply? Bench him? Unlikely.

Maybe Rodgers and the Steelers can find some common ground in the middle, but I don't see a player with his ego coming in and being restricted within a system that has proven to be ineffective when it counts.
Totally agree Top. He’s not going to spend his last season handcuffed. There could be some fireworks. He took 40 sacks last season. That worries me. I sure hope our Oline improves. Rodgers is well known to have huge expectations in his receivers running super crisp routes. He is all about timing. DJ Metcalf is certainly not known for his precise route running. There could be fireworks here as well. DJ is certainly not shy on the sidelines. I haven’t seen Roman Wilson play one down,so I have no clue what he’s all about. All reports I’ve read is that he’s working his *** off to seize this opportunity. Let’s hope he’s our wildcard.

It all starts in the trenches. Our new RB hopefully will do his thing. Shall be interesting.

I actually looked that up for some reason a while ago.
Did you know in winning the MVP that year he threw for 2915 yards…..28 touchdowns and 20 interceptions. 20 interceptions. 56.3% completion rate.
Stats like that could get you benched in this era. Unless of course you are offset by a great defense.

Those aren’t bad numbers for that era of football.

Kordell Was the first STEELERS quarterback ever to throw for a 60+ completion % on the season. I think it was 1997. (60.3% i think).

Salute the nation

Ben's last season

Ben Rothlisberger
Age 39
64.5% completion
3740 yards
22 tds 10 ints

Rodgers last season

Aaron Rodgers
Age 40
63% comp
3897 yards
28 tds 11 ints

They forced Ben out. And got on their knees and begged for Rodgers to sign. Ben had to deal with a horrible offensive system to boot. Curious to see what Tomlin does offensively this season for Rodgers.

Don’t forget how horrible that OL was as well. Green at center amongst others. Tomlin did so little effort to try and give BEN a great last season. His 7 come from behind victories are proof that he was the catalyst amongst the walking dead.

Rudy / Russ / and i doubt Rodgers would / will be able to even come close to that fact.

Maybe the great Aaaa-Ron will be leading and not have to bail out the ineptitude.

A diminished Rodgers at even 60-65% of what he was a few years ago is still better at what he does than Tomlin and way smarter about offense and functional intelligence than Tomlin will ever be. Whatever hopes the season has hinges upon Tomlin getting out of the way and discarding the dumb rules of engagement and attrition football he's chased hard after the last 3-4 years and in many ways since the formative Mason-Duck season of 2019 when he felt he discovered the cheat code.

Rodgers is a tool, a cancer, and hasn't been a great QB in a decade. It's a waste of money and another wasted "reload" season

And how about Watt?

And you played like a hero in every Superbowl. They went deep a lot. I'd say it worked out well didn't it?

He called his own plays. No OC in his ******* ear. Defensive players absolutely wrecking you.

The quarterbacks of this era wouldn't make it half a season.

He also has the greatest pass in SB history and maybe all time with the 74 yard laser to Swann in SB X during which he was knocked out. Favre and Elway are the only other QBs I see as capable of making that pass.

He was MVP 4 years ago. Want to try again. He was not terrible on a terrible team last year after the first few games.

And that's why I'm not worried about Rodgers being handcuffed like Wilson was. Although Wilson has an aversion to throwing over the middle anyway. AR made Tomlin wait, and AR will air it out when he sees fit. I'm sure there were demands made if he was going to play here. I'm sure because Arthur Smith acknowledged as much.

Meh.....Ben never did either. I would take Ben over Rodgers every day.
Meh?

You don't win four NFL MVPs without having incredible talent, and an ego to match. I wasn't comparing Rodgers to Ben, I was talking about how AR has more credibility and stature now than Wilson did coming to Pittsburgh last year. He will most likely be given more leeway to run things the way he wants... certainly more than Russ ever did. And for good reason.

What a stupid statement.

Rodgers is only three years removed from back-to-back MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021. He had 85 touchdowns and 9 interceptions in those two years combined, which were both in the last five years, not ten.

Yeah, nothing great to see there.
