Rodgers Signing with Black n’ Gold

My take, which is worth nothing except to me:

Did I want them to sign A-Aron; no, because I have doubts that it will make much of a difference.
But they did, and he is now a Steeler, and with each and every game I wish success for him and the team.

From an entertainment value it will be an Iuptick, but the overall philosophy of the team won't change much.
I caught Matt Williamson’s podcast on the DK YouTube channel and I really liked what he reported. Rodgers was the best looking quarterback of all of them, of course it’s in shorts. But what made me happy was he was working with the coaches as well as coaching up Howard and the offense on routes and blocking. He wasn’t slacking off at camp and just stepping up like a leader should. Regardless of what happens this season with him, this is positive. Anytime you get a quarterback of his caliber helping the offense out, this is a bonus.

Popcorn you say……………..

Two night ago I went to make this Jolly-Time pack of popcorn. It was a three pouch pack, oil / corn / topping salt and the instructions said to use 1/2 at a time.

I was making the popcorn instead of supper so I made the whole pack at once……………….. mistake

My giant sized kettle became over full and yes….. I had a small mess.

W-A-I-T, there’s more…………………….

I get done popping and put all the popped corn in this HUGE mixing bowl, topped with powdered ranch & smoked paprika sprinkled over. Tasted great

B-U-T

I went to grab the bowl and head into TV room to watch and lo and behold I knocked the bowl off the counter…………………………… Miraculously, the bowl landed upside down on the floor and caged the popcorn inside underneath. I just lifted slightly and scoop the corn while turning the bowl upright.

I lost about 1/6 of the popcorn, but overall still had way plenty and enjoyed the viewing.

**** Happens, laugh and move forward.

I got this, Omar.

I value you.

Thanks for all your great post(s) ZonaBurgh, appreciate them.

The potential for entertainment has risen as the two personalities seem opposite in philosophy.

I’m in your boat, always want success and improvement.

Some here say they can’t wait until there is a full blown clash on the sidelines……………. I hope that’s never becomes the case as to the detriment it will cause to the team. Coach Tom Lin hits here to stay at the least until his contract runs out.

Yesterday coming home I’m at a red light wanting to turn right. Waiting for the pedestrians to walk over to my side. As usual there is the one bimbo who has a life altering text she has to type out while crossing. Making sure the world notices her importance. As she goes slower and closer to the all mighty Ford Ranger she trips on the curb, landing on her ample butt cheeks. She looks quickly to see if anyone notices and stands up with a scowl as she notices me roaring in laughter. It made my day,and I’m still laughing!

This comment describes probably half of this Steeler Nation site. Including myself sometimes😉😉

As I’ve gotten older I prefer some of these people with a bit of character. What exactly has he done that gets you so riled up off the field? Who gives a **** if he thinks the earth is flat or whatever. Pretty harmless. Bet you I’d have a better time get **** faced ,shooting the bull with him than the usual strait laced boring numb nuts that you obviously prefer. Hmmmm…..I wonder what type you are.

Mann oh Mann ,the guy hasn't even played a down for us.
Let's begin by establishing that the Earth is not flat. That was common knowledge 3000 years ago

Rodgers doesn't "rile me up," as you out it, the FA-FO irks me. They refuse to create and execute a viable plan that results in 7.

I do not want to have a beer not so I prefer nuts but I don't judge you if you do. I want professionals who are dedicated to improving themselves and their team.

Ask me out to dinner if you're curious about my "type."

.You're the guy who said you were going to come looking for me. That's why.
.
Context missing here, as usual. Enjoy the discount double dork and the FO that doesn't think it's necessary to implement a plan for long-term success. And have a fun weekend

You are letting your personal dislike cloud your objectivity. He has been none of the things you claim since arriving and by all accounts from teammates none of those things in previous Lockeroom's. Something tells me this about his opinions on non-football topics and not about actual football.
Since arriving where? A week ago? Are you fking serious?

Do you have a reading comprehension issue? I spoke of previous stops as well as here. I challenge you to find much if any negative coverage of him as a teammate. SO yes I am ******* serious. You seem to have an axe to grind with him and it feels personal not football related. You aren’t the only one. He will be the best QB we have had on the field since a healthy Ben even if he won’t be the same guy who won back to back MVPs just a few years ago and played pretty well on a bad Jets team. Yes he is weird but I see no issues with the way he plays the game or carries himself with his teammates.

The stocking of draft picks for next year along with the rebuilding of both lines seems like a hell of a good start to me on a long term plan. Better than doing a Cleveland and putting the cart before the horse and getting on an endless cycle of draft a QB prematurely and poorly, He gets a coach fired they get rid of the QB and repeat. WE made a mistake with Kenny and instead of just taking the next imperfect draft pick right away they are building the team and the draft capital to do it right.

Did you stick to the 3 second rule when retrieving the popcorn?

**** no, scooped and ate with no problem.

Oh, was laughing while I did it.

Yep, I'm a fan of the team no matter who gets a helmet.
20-0 until proven wrong.

That’s my stock prediction every year.

Eventually I go through the schedule, after final 53 is announced, and make my “EXPERT” picks on win loss.

Did you find some stat showing yards we gave up with Cam vs yards we gave up without him? My memory remembers us giving up yards with and without him. Just curious.

Edit: Also it just wasn't our run defense that was/is the problem.

Just a few other issues.....Our soft zones and our CBs consistently playing 10 yards off the WRs on 3rd and short. We consistently just rush 4 players straight up the field. Our nonadjustments all game long.

The scheme is dated. When a WR from 10 years ago laughs that we are still doing the same thing and loved it when he played us......change is needed.
The stat was from Williamson and Lolley. Our run defense was atrocious with Cam off the field by a huge margin. Close to a yard and a half according to Dale. Top 5 when he is on the field and bottom 5 off. Speaks volumes to his ability and volumes to why we drafted a DL over a QB. It also looks like they ended the experiment of using Leal outside and had him bulk up. Having Black won't hurt either. The 2 DL thing is really a misnomer as it is really a 4 man front with Highsmith and Watt as the ends. It was effective with Cam and not so much without him.

We now have two QBs with more offensive acumen than the HC..:when the HC is as offensively challenged as Mike is that is a huge positive.

Hopefully Rodgers is on a mission to get that 2nd ring and his presence actually becomes a bridge to Howard as the future. Having him in the room is a huge positive for Howard’s development this year if he chooses to be the mentor he can be.

It’s super early on in the process but the arrow is pointing in the right direction for some hope for the present AND the future.

I didn't realize the disparity on the field weekly...but obviously it was there. We still need to change up a bunch other stuff though. We run a dated defense that while it is good enough vs average to below average teams....against the elites we do not stand a chance.....whether Cam is on the field or not. Whether even Watt os on the field or not. Change is needed of we ever want to move forward as a franchise from the mediocre state we are in.

for a guy that doesn’t rile you up you sure mention a lot of non football stuff about him. But let’s get past that.

Why don’t we put the money where the mouth is. First of all, personally Rodgers for me was the best and cheapest choice to win the most games this season. I am not the fan that believes In tanking.

I didn’t want Fields or Russ last year and wanted neither this year. But I understood the signings on the cheap.
Last season i said we would be going through the exact same QB search this year. And we did. And we will be doing it next season and no doubt the next season if we draft a high rookie. They won’t throw him in right away.
I’ve been saying we needed a future QB since Ben’s 5000 yard season. Which was not popular. I flippantly said we should draft Lamar when we were on the clock to develop for the future. I hated the signing of Mitch and said so on here when he signed. I fully was on board for Mason to start that season.

I did not mind the draft of KP. I watched many of Pitts games his last season and he had a magical season. So for me he was the top ranked QB that draft. Where we usually draft when were we ever going to get the top ranked Quarterback? I thought it was definitely worth the risk. I was wrong.

That brings us to present day. You say they refuse to create and execute a viable plan for #7. Perhaps they just have not found their player where they have been drafting. I’ve said on here many times they have to draft their future QB. For me it’s the only way.

Let’s hear what you would have done so differently in this time frame. Drafting where we drafted of course.

Sure all of that COULD be true, except you are ignoring the reason for the greatest problem, MIKE TOMLIN. He. BELIEVES that his 2 DL scheme works, not blitzing and sitting back is the way to go. He BELIEVES that only scoring 1 point more than your opponent, so as to not upset them, is a good plan.

Our defense is so far removed from the nuances of blitzing, it isn’t even funny.

Our teams of old knew that somewhere there had to be a double team drawn, Our guys knew secrets, such as putting the wrong hand down, white knuckles when actually not coming, fake side steps to get the 2nd to bite…….. very numerous more……. Casey Hampton didn’t just bull his guy straight back, he bulled him into a second blocker making that be 2 occupied, allowing a blitzer through.

With us not using the blitz in a regular form, these tips get lost along with who should be faking and not. I know some here may scoff, but James Harrison faked his way into the greatest defensive Super Bowl play all time……..

I know our current defense has retained some of the blitzing protocol, but the more blitzing, the better they become at it. It’s those little things that makes one spectacular and a champion.

EXCELLENT post Steelmann, appreciate you.

There is a lot that makes sense with the Aaaa-Ron signing. I’m hoping for the best.

The Tomlin is going to have to make some changes to accommodate Rodgers and maybe that action will slide a little into the defense as well. Tomlin has acknowledged change is needed, let’s see how far he will go.

Thanks again for the great post(s).

There's no missing context. You said what you said.

Enjoy sitting around all summer and fall and early winter hoping for Rodgers to fail, just so you can come look for me and tell me that you were right and I was wrong. Sounds like a lot of fun.

That old man is bringing home a championship this season to Pittsburgh!!!!!!!🤪

Change up your **** Tomlin. You have your QB now. Don't waste the talent on defensive also. Us them to be GREAT!!!!

That dude is a troll, doing troll stuff. I think you nailed it his beef with Rodgers has nothing to do with football.

Rodgers has a history of throwing teammates and coaches under the bus-not ideal. Hey maybe he will keep teammates and coaches on their toes in a good way, they need some sort of shakeup. Or it could be a train wreck
