Rumor: Steelers looking to trade for WR

I still think the best move is Meyer. Give up the 3rd, give him an extension. You have WR1 and 2 locked up for a few years and if you bring in a young QB or Howard and if Rodgers returns next year, you know what you’ve got.

There doesn't appear to be a QB in college worth trading up for, so spend the extra 3rd now and get a WR2. Where we missed it was not offering Darnold the kind of money he's showing he deserved.

Im not sure how this team would be with Darnold. Maybe 4 and 5? Who knows. Rodgers is playing lights out, knows when the game needs managed and knows when to push the ball downfield. He’s also the mature leader that the team has been lacking for years. I can’t say enough about Ramsey on the defensive side. He hasn’t been the shut down like he has been in his past, but he’s stepped up as a team leader and yesterday, lit a fire under the whole team.

Yeah Rodgers is a great fit for THIS YEAR. Who's up next? Darnold is a top 12 QB in the league. He had to overcome being drafted by the Jets is the only smirch on his resume.

Darnold found the right fit in Seattle, much like Purdy did with the 49ers and Mayfield in TB.
Who knows if Darnold would be faring as well in the Steelers system or not.
If Rodgers stays healthy and he enjoys this year, he may have another one in him to mentor Howard to see what they have in him.

Same could be said for any great college QB prospect.

Well-looks like MVS it is. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it. I just hope he didn’t drop the pen while signing
They dropped Beanie to make room on PS.

He should run Tackling Class 101 for most of the team. I really appreciate the way he plays and leads.

A third would be highway robbery. Fourth would still be too much. 5th or less.

Yes, the Steelers need a legit WR2, but when you're $30 million man is 57th in the NFL in receptions...
Part of that is scheme part of that is lack of a threat opposite him and part of that is he isn't a route runner extraordinaire who can get open every play we need that skill set in someone bigger than CA3 for the number 2.

If your WR1 is ranked 57th in the league in receptions, then your scheme sucks.

The Dolphins traded Jaelin Phillips to the Eagles and are reportedly open to trading Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Bengals want a 1st for Trey Hendrickson.

If you are suggesting bringing back Minkah, we are not allowed by league rules to trade for him.

To be fair part of the problem (not that it excuses any concerns or perceived deficiencies) attached to Smith pre Steelers was that he rotated in too many players taking away reps and cohesion with his main players. It may or may not apply in this case but it was a concern that was on the table. So it isn’t out of the realm of one of the potential contributors to his multi factored outcomes statistically.

doesn't do anything to hurt us in any real way either.
That does appear to be true. i dont see where any draft picks had to be given up for him or where any compensation was talked about. It will be interesting to see who has to give up a roster spot for him which it may just be Ekuale's because im not sure who took his spot. If it was up to me it would be Thornhill or Clark since they really bring nothing to the table. Both are real fortunate the Steelers are so thin at their positions.

Teams are obviously going to be focused on DK. We have more weapons that we get credit for. Washington and DK are large humans. PF has shown he can go for 100, Smith is no slouch, CAIII and Wilson have also had decent games. We just need to take what the other teams give. Hopefully DK keeps his head in the game. I think he is at his best on the slants where he can break tackles or use his speed. Slant to DK is tough to stop without committing multiple defenders

Valdes-Scantling isn't on a roster (San Fran released him a couple of weeks ago) so he's a free agent signing. Given Steelers are apparently signing him to the practice squad, it looks like he is probably just a warm body, in case of injury to a currently rostered wideout (the current receiving warm bodies being a guy with 60 catches for 634 yards across 5 years and a converted quarterback who has never played a down in the NFL).

DK has played about 89% of the snaps. I think it's more about Rodgers taking safe throws a lot. Smith and Gainwell are next two in line for targets and both are averaging under 7.0 YPC.
