Rumor: Steelers looking to trade for WR

Yeah, Tomlin definitely didnt think Fields was the long term answer. He was hoping he would be a steal from the Bears. Didn't turn out that way....much to my chagrin since hes a Big Ten guy.
I'm not a college football guy, i am suprised with how well Dart is playing despite being on one of the worst offenses with No Wr's. Looks like they may have something with that kid.

Didn't they offer fields money to stay? Maybe I got confused, but I swore they tried keeping him
Yep. And it was reported less than the $$ Jets gave him. He just wanted a guarantee that he would start. And Tomlin would not give him that.

Tomlin and Aaron Glenn both though Fields was the long term answer. Shocking
Both should be fired on those grounds alone.

Thank god Fields saved us from the disaster he is in NY.
Age aside, Rodgers has played better than I though he would. Most of the negative press on him comes from the woke media that didn't like him exercising his freedom of speech, had little to do with football.
So, you'd fire Coach Tomlin for going 4-2, w/ Fields, last year???

Shocking...

yeah, even first ballot HoF QB AAron Rogers couldn't un-**** that organization's level of suck...Fields going to be different? Nah. He was with the loser Bears, came to the Steelers and did a pretty good job, then goes to the loser Jets. Kid isn't a bad QB, he just needs the right team.

Tyler Lockett is expected to be granted his release and free to sign with any team on Wednesday after 4:00.
Berm has been investigating and thinking more about this...

Lockett, at 33, brings 'what to the table that we already have in house'???

Methinks - naddah.

So:

Olave - scrambled eggs HIGH RISK; but definite #2 and better than everyone but DK on the roster
Lockett - OLD but dependable (can he get separation anymore?)
Waddle - great fit but the cost is going to be 3rd round or higher PLUS a player IMO
Shaheed - I don't see #2 written on this guy - CA3 is already here. Maybe less injury prone???
Cooks - see Lockett and again - OLD
Meyers - meh...light bulb on? Light bulb off? Not so sure he's a #2
Lazard - I'd rather play the Geico lizard at #2

Which brings us to the available WR Free Agents. I will go on record and say Gabe Davis would be my 'all in' choice; but pick one and share your analysis:

Schwartz is interesting too - 4.29 speed...

Waddle would be my first choice, but he will cost alot. Olave would be second if the price is right. I would not give more than a 5th. Not sure what Boyd has left in the tank but I would take him over Davis. Meyers has much better stats than I was expecting, but he just never seemed to quite put it together. I would not touch Cooks or lazard

did you actually type this with a straight face? what are you watching on your tv screen? he absolutely IS a bad quarterback, and I'm a Buckeye fan saying this. He's horrid, he's not getting better. You could trade him to the Chiefs and bench Patty boy, play Justin in his place, and the results would be less than optimal, I promise you.

I would have kept starting him last season over Russ. They tied his hands running the offense and he did what they asked. I would have gradually opened it up for him though. When he ran the ball he gave up chunks of yards by sliding when anyone was within 5 yards. We didn't give any TOs though. In a structured system even one as limited as ours was on offense he did have some success. I wasn't for signing him or Russ. You can not deny his success here last season though.

If these are our choices after the obvious choices have been snatched by other teams or negotiations deaded then I'd rather trade for #1 corner or LT and ride the wave at WR and acknowledge Khan blew it for a second straight season getting a reliable #2 receiver. Should never have let Pickens go. The Steelers had all the leverage.

Don't kill me for this but I think his success here should be partially at least accredited to Mike Tomlin, He got more from both of those guys last year than anything they have done this year overall. You can win some regular season games with Fields in Tomlins safe style but likely never a playoff game.

I disagree. Was he a bad QB with us? No. He was better than average and again - you should know this - the kid hasn't had the same OC consecutively since he's been in the NFL. That's a tough pill to swallow both as a player and fan...

I think, had he stayed here (for less money obviously) he would have built on the foundation that he was building, but I choose to see the best in things more often than not.

He can do that with any QB because of the style. Unfortunately, it’s a QB-driven league, so hiding yours eventually fails against good teams.

Rodgers didn’t play poorly for the Jets, Fields is.

Outside of Garrett Wilson, who is he throwing to? A bunch of no-names who couldn't get open if you stuffed a rocket up their collective *****.

Both Russel Wilson and Justin Fields had a better Quarterback rating than Aaron Rogers last season.
