I dunno Slash. Here's how I look at it.
My oldest is a HS QB now. I tell him, if you make it to College, any level - even Division III - you're an elite QB. Yeah, even Division III. What's elite? Well, consider there's about 360Million people in the US give or take all of the illegal aliens. 52% are women, give or take, 48% men. That's about 173Million American men. Give or take there are 245 college football programs. With 3 QBs each, maybe four. If every one of those programs had 4 QBs, that's less than 1,000 QBs playing in college. 1,000 QBs out of 173 Million men. If you play college football, regardless of position, you're elite.
Here we are in the NFL. The Steelers are one of 32 teams, 32 NFL teams all with extra-elite talent. And that team is a mere half game out of first in the AFC North. With a 7-4 record. With a HC with a career winning record and a Super Bowl ring. With an OC with a solid (by all counts) career. And people want to call them dumb and dumber.
I've seen teams with Romeo Crennel as HC, or Steve Spurrier as HC. I'm really ******* glad I'm not a fan of those teams. No...if 8-8 a couple seasons in a row is as bad as it gets as a Steelrers fan, and we cry this much, then I'll say we're ******* spoiled.
I'll take it. As much as it pains the plumbers and accountants and lawyers on this board, these guys are elite in their craft. Like it or not.
I don't always agree, the team gives me heartburn, and I often say "WTF!?" after plays and play Monday Morning QB. But really...really? We're pretty ******* fortunate fans.
