Same ****...different day.

Rookie 3rd string QB: 15/24 (62.5%) for 263 yards and 2 TD, 1 INT
"Franchise" QB: 21/32 (65.6%) for 207 yards and 1 TD, 1 INT

Whatever.

what matters is the W. At the end of the season, you, me and 97% of other fans will not remember what the rookie and Ben did on Nov. 17, 2014.

actually, that rookie is now their 1st string QB and his one interception was a pick six and 80 yards and a TD came off of a massively blown coverage...

The Franchise QB also has thrown, off the top of my head so it may be wrong, for 14 TDs against 2 int. in the past four games and has two Super Bowl wins with a third AFC Championship thrown in... The Franchise QB also has to go into each week with a team scheming to stop him at all costs because he is capable of single handedly winning football games. So.....

Whatever..

Yeah, we SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT why Mike Mitchell sucks so bad. Where the **** was he on that play?

Running towards the line of scrimmage. He smelled some pound cake up there. Mmmm.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Tim Steelersfan again.

As the title states, "same $h1t...different day". Another negative thread after a win...meh...

Steelers will be sitting home come playoff time. Way too many problems with this team.

The worst mistake the FO can do at this point is offer Ben a franchise QB contract. Let him walk when his contract runs out. Burn a high draft pick on a QB next year and let him learn what not to do, then throw him in there like the other teams do - sink or swim. Franchise is as franchise does.

Are you insane? Let him walk? Then what? Oh, we draft the next great QB and expect immediate results. A SB no less in his second season. Do you not see every year teams that draft QB's and expect the same great results and most of these guys turn out to be turds. Take a look at the Redskins as a prime example.

Two sets of numbers:
set #1- 63.7, 93.8
set #2- 63.5, 96

any guesses?

"Franchise" QB: 21/32 (65.6%) for 207 yards and 1 TD, 1 INT

Ex Steeler QB 1: (55.8%) for 14,746 yards, 77 TD, 84 INT (Kordell Stewart)
Ex Steeler QB 2: (51.8%) for 7,801 yards, 39 TD, 33, INT (Kent Graham)
Ex Steeler QB 3: (57.2%) for 8,087 yards, 48 TD, 54 INT (Tommy Maddox)
Ex Steeler QB 4: (53.4%) for 16,079 yards, 88 TD, 106 INT (Mike Tomczak)
Ex Steeler QB 5: (54.6%) for 14,445 yards, 81 TD, 78 INT (Bubby Brister)
Ex Steeler QB 6: (50.9%) for 10,175 yards, 60 TD, 81 INT (Mark Malone)

Ex Steeler QB 7: (51.9%) for 27,989 yards, 212 TD, 210 INT (Terry Bradshaw) (4 Superbowl victories, 0 losses)
Ex Steeler QB 8: (63.7%) for 37,375 yards, 243 TD, 128 INT (Ben Roethlisberger) 2 Superbowl Victories, 1 loss)

Ya, let's NOT offer Roethlisberger a contract! Kinda puts it in perspective when you see the frickin' numbers doesn't it?

Do you REALIZE the NEXT BEST QB we had was Kordell Stewart? May I REMIND you how much you all LOVED Kordell? It can easily be argued that Maddox was the better QB and the numbers show that without question. However when you add Stewarts rushing yards and TD's he easily edges Maddox in production over his career. Regardless that and about $8 will buy you a ****** beer at the stadium.

Dear Lord. Ya. Let's trade Ben and sign a rookie. Cause THAT'S gonna work out really really well!

Ben is 32 and taking far more shots than he should take, even with the "new" offense - 5 sacks last night alone, not including other hits. I was a bit harsh since I still had the end zone INT in my mind and I don't want to downplay the success he has had in our system but I'm looking at the future and I don't see him taking us to another Super Bowl win. Looking at the QBs who have been Super Bowl winners, the drop off is significant after 30. If we break the bank to sign him to a lucrative new deal, we won't have anything to rebuild our defense or the chronically unstable OL.

We seem to have a solid running game but the defense is nowhere near playoff caliber. The fact that we still depend on Keisel and Harrison tell me the new guys are not panning out and we have 2 or 3 more years of rebuilding there. Coaching is what it is and anyone who sees the trio of Tomlin, Haley, and LeBeau taking this team - or any team - to the Super Bowl is entitled to their delusion.

Truth be told, we should have already had a viable replacement on the roster - I don't see Landry as the guy - but I see rookie QBs making more and more impact as the league gets pass-happy. I'm under no delusion that our next starting QB will be anywhere near what he had with Ben but at some point everyone has to realize that we need a QB of the future. If not now, when?

Wait a minute USAF? Are you suggesting Landry isn't the answer? I figured dynasty QB's grew on trees. Why are we going to waste time and more picks on QBs when we have two more on our roster already. Just develop the stupid good talent we already have.

You've already suggested we don't extend Roethlisberger. So we simply let his contract expire, allow somebody else to sign him as a RFA or URFA. We get nothing, but that's ok cause we save HUGE on the cap and as my previous post showed, Roethlisberger is BARELY better than Mark Malone. We're bound to do as well with an undrafted rookie qb that we can sign for league minimum to a ridiculous long-term contract. Dump Gradkowski because he's going to start getting expensive as a vet. Keep Jones through his rooking contract which should be another year or two, (He'll be our backup QB.)

Then, as soon as those guys contracts expire we just let them go and replace them with undrafted phenoms who can easily fill in with 64% completion rates and high TD to INT percentages. ****, this GM stuff is EASY! If **** gets tough we'll just go into the Madden player profile editor and up our QB's attributes. No problem man. I say we get rid of Colbert too. I'll work for way less. But I need EA to hack me a PC version of Madden. That console **** is stupid. I need me a real keyboard. I'm a developer.

So Ray Hortons answer to throttle Ben was to blitz on every down. Ok I get it and it's a good gamble. I just can't believe it took Tomlin/ Haley and everybody else that long to figure out the answer to the relentless blitzing. It happened in the Rats game in the Burgh; the Rats dropped Ben on three consecutive plays then BOOM, Ben starts lighting up the Rats secondary. Apparently Pouncey & Co went into the huddle and said: "that's enough no more waiting on these guys to get open we got this- give the ball to Le'Veon and get out of the way"!
Whatever, I liked it.

The issue is we are not smart. we should have been running and when not running we should have been hitting Bell on traditional RB screens or Heath 4 yards past the LOS in the void where the LBs blitzed from.. that is how you stop an all out blitz, not patterens that take 4 seconds to develop

USAF, Ben is 32 and could potentially have 5 solid seasons left in him. His best football may still be yet to come as this offense continues to evolve. He didn't have the best two games these last couple weeks and now you want to let him walk? Come on man! Ben is the only reason we have a chance year in and year out. We got damn lucky when he fell in our laps in 2004, and can you imagine where this team would have been the last 11 seasons without him?

Teams draft QB's every year and as you probably know, it's always a crapshoot. Look how many flops that have been drafted the past 11 seasons, some very high picks, even #1 picks. You know the Bens, Rogers, Lucks, Rivers and Eli's are few and far between and you want to let Ben just walk? As I said to you earlier, then what? We have no one on the roster that's a starter so that leaves F/A and the draft.

No, the Steeler plan will be to extend Ben 5-6 years and use a high draft pick, maybe a number one within the next 3-5 years to be Ben's back-up and learn from him. The Steelers do some crazy **** at times but they're certainly not fools and won't let Ben walk.

I said we should have Ben's replacement on the roster - we don't. And don't make the ridiculous comparison with Mark Malone. Neil O'Donnell was a better QB and I don't even see him mentioned in this thread. My point is simple - if we are going to take 2 - 3 more rebuilding years with Tomlin as head coach, keeping Ben is an expensive luxury. It may take years to find his replacement but we need to start looking sooner rather than later. I don't know if Ben will take a cap-friendly extension to stay with the Steelers but we simply can't afford a franchise deal.

Tebow put up amazing numbers against the Steeler D that was ranked 1st in points and yards. What a great star QB he turned out to be. This year's D is ranked 18th in points and 14th in yards, I'd severely hesitate before using them as any kind of measuring stick as to how good a QB is.

Why? Money isn't the reason the team is struggling, it's due to piss poor drafting. You don't get rid of a franchise QB until you have someone better or he can no longer play at a high level. Paying Gilbert big money was stupid, not paying Ben would be full retard. You never go full retard.

Exactly. I've had this discussion before. The team struggles because of bad drafting not because they don't have a ton of cap space. Also their cap isn't that bad to start with. Even if they had $100 million more in cap space what good would that do them? Extend Lance Moore? Extend Cam Thomas? What good does the money do when you have no one worth paying? Hell they wasted money on Gilbert and Allen. How's that working out? Without Ben this team wins 4 games tops. Ben hasn't played great lately but he's working with a rookie in Bryant, a 2nd year rookie (hurt all last year and couldn't go to rookie camp) in Wheaton, and Lance Moore who is new to the system. Ben needs to be resigned.

Ben did not make a good throw to Archer it was behind him and he was running away from it, The Brown throw was behind as well, Throwing it away instead of trying to force it would have been smarter.

I give the coaches of Tenn credit for the game they played three of them were long time Steelers coaches and it looked like they did all they could to get the win. I have to give the steelers coaches credit for a change as well they did not panic and found some things that worked and stuck with them.

in what can only be described as a throwback fan situation...
i lost fantasy football by 4 points, with ben as my qb. i was screaming at the tv to feed bell. ******* guy was unstoppable last night

Well said, mate...
