Defenses will take their chances with Ben running at this point in his career, though even in his prime he was never the level of rushing threat Allen is.

Allen is one of the best overall athletes in the league.

Carr is not it. He’s a decent QB. You can make the playoffs with him but he’s not a killer. Josh Allen is a killer. You can see the difference in the two of them. Playing against Carr means you play disciplined and don’t give up the easy stuff and you can stop him. Allen makes you defend every inch of the field.

Carr looks for the safe play. Allen looks for the best play.

The Steelers are in the market for a QB. I don’t want a Cousins or Carr who will just waste maybe 10 years of a franchise being pretty good but unable to get over the top. I’d rather roll with Mason as a placeholder and swing for the fences on a great QB rather than draft or sign a merely good QB.

Part of me wonders how accurate that is - statistically he's not bad. However, the Raiders haven't exactly been a model of success if that makes any sense. If you put him on the Steelers with that defense, and a few weapons, he might be good enough to take your team where you want to go.

That being said - if you're the Raiders and you hire a new coach, do you hire a coach who will be forced to work with Carr like Miami is intending on doing with Tua, or do you hire a coach and let him bring in his own guy? If the latter - you might be able to get Carr for less than a first rounder, which in that case, is worth taking the risk on.
