Steelers met with Cushenberry at the combine and he can play both OG and OC which gives him added value. Pros: Quick out of his stance, nimble feet, good lateral movement, decent hand punch, good anchor (not great) and seems to feel stunts and blitzes well. Cons: Hand placement seems to get outside more than you’d like to see but that is very coachable.

Conner is in a contract year, Snell looked good but I never really saw a burst to make him a homerun threat and he seems to be a powerback and limited to between the tackles. Dillon is a one cut and up back that thrives in the NFL. Pros: Good vision to follow his blockers and hits the hole with momentum. Good feet especially considering his size. Power and forward lean is superb as he doesn’t get taken down with arm tackles and seems to always fall forward for an extra yard or two. Long speed is more than enough in the NFL. Cons: Not the best of receiver and will need to develop in this area to stay on the field all three downs. Pass pro is hit or miss and will need work to become better.

Steelers did sign Ebron and kept McDonald but Ebron could easily be a one year deal and McDonald can be released after the season. This gives the Steelers a young guy to develop. Pros: Good hands, above average athlete, big bodied with long arms and big mitts. Cons: Seems a little lazy at times, doesn’t have great flexibility, boom or bust prospect.

Villanueva, Banner, and Feiler are all impending free agents so Steelers get a developmental guy to hopefully replace one of them. Pros: Unbelievable athleticism for the position. Feet are nimble, hands are powerful, arms are freakishly long. He’s 6-8 308 with 36 ⅛” arms and 11 ¼” hands. Cons: Former basketball player which is where I see his feet and athleticism coming from but he also is sloppy and relies a lot on that athleticism. That is fine at South Carolina State but not going to get it done in the NFL. Will need a season to develop.

Steelers are thin behind Fitz and Edmunds and Robinson can actually play both FS and SS. He is a ballhawk in every sense of the word with 7 picks at two years in college and 2 picks in 5 XFL games. Pros: Great awareness and sees plays develop and undercuts passes. A+ tackler and great in open field. Cons: Suspended from UWV for academic fraud so character concerns has to be an issue. Does take chances which don’t always work out.
154.Pittsburgh Steelers Tanner Muse LB, Clemson
Steelers have some decent coverage options at LB with Bush and Grant but with the absence of dirty red the Steelers are thin at backup ILB and special teams players. Muse played safety in college but his body and skillset looks to translate well to ILB in the pros. Pros: SPARQ off the chart and A+ athlete. Had nice production playing deep safety even though ILB might have been a better position for him. Cons: Position changes are never easy or guaranteed. Will need to show he can be more physical to play ILB.

Steelers are still high on Rudolph but in this draft I am able to acquire enough picks to bring in more competition at the QB position. Pros: NFL caliber arm and IMO strongest arm in this draft. Big hands, NFL frame, quick release and throws effortlessly. Good feet for a big man and can extend the play or scramble when needed but his eyes always stay down field. Very Roethlisbergerish during the beginning of his career. Cons: Feet placement are downright ugly and has a different throwing motion. The feet placement I feel would fix his sometimes arrant throws when he is working from a clean pocket. The good news is when he is scrambling and can’t set his feet he is already phenomenal at being accurate with those throws.

Hargrave is gone and I don’t know if the Steelers really plan on replacing him. From what I have seen and read they let Hargrave walk because he played so few snaps because he doesn’t really fit what the Steelers are trying to do. I think he was drafted because he was such a value that they found ways of getting him on the field and taught him to play NT that could rush. I feel Fotu comes in on those 15% base defense plays and he holds the point and pushes the pocket like a good NT does to free up those inside backers but I feel we play more “sub” packages and pass sets and a true nose is not needed as much. Pros: Dude has a ton of sand in his pants and requires two to move him off his point. Long arms and heavy hands. Plugs the middle and frees up your inside backers to shoot gaps and make plays. Does the ugly work and loves it. Cons: Little pass rush ability and is likely a short yardage player with little special teams value. His teammate John Penisini would definitely be an UDFA target if I didn’t end up with Fotu. Don’t get me wrong Fotu has more upside as a pass rusher and even has some (not a lot) of potential at 5 technique. But when it comes to being a stout 0 technique and that alone Penisini has the higher floor but definitely lower ceiling.

I for one don’t feel WR is a top pick need and here’s why. JuJu likely gets a long term deal and that is Colberts MO to lock up young talent for a reasonable price. JuJu, Washington and Johnson are all 23/24 years old and Washington and Johnson had nice seasons considering who was throwing the the ball. Therefore I feel the Steelers will look for a value player later in the draft. Pros: Bayless has freakish good hands making a half dozen circus like catches last year and he also has 93 grabs for 1,653 yards as a senior. He adjust great to the ball when it is in the air and he is a natural hand catcher who highpoints the ball. Does a nice job hand fighting to create separation.Cons: Not the greatest athlete on the planet and didn’t create a lot of separation with speed or agility. Needs to sell route better. Got pushed around at the LOS a lot and will need work learning to fight off DBs.

Hilton is an UFA next year and when you look at guys like Watt and Dupree he might be low man on the pecking order. Robertson is a clone physically of Hilton which will scare a lot of teams away. Also, Robertson declined to test at the combine and without scouts being allowed to go to pro days that will also hurt his stock. Steelers met with him at the combine so there is at least interest. Pros: Natural football player instincts. He just has a knack for being in the right place at the right time and sees the play before it develops. Quick feet, physical, smooth/loose hips, crazy productive with 14 picks, 23 tfl, 4 sacks, 34 pass defended and all in three years as he is a true Junior at 21 years old. Cons: 5-9, 187lbs, short arms, small hands, not great long speed. I would guess between 4.5-4.6 forty.

135.Pittsburgh Steelers Alex Taylor OT, South Carolina State
Villanueva, Banner, and Feiler are all impending free agents so Steelers get a developmental guy to hopefully replace one of them.

153.Pittsburgh Steelers Kenny Robinson S, West Virginia

159.Pittsburgh Steelers James Morgan QB, Florida International

198.Pittsburgh Steelers Leki Fotu IDL, Utah

232.Pittsburgh Steelers Omar Bayless WR, Arkansas State
I for one don’t feel WR is a top pick need and here’s why.

251.Pittsburgh Steelers Amik Robertson CB, Louisiana Tech
