So after about 15 years, I've canceled NFL Ticket.

Understood totally..

If it wasn't for some lingering interest in my home town football club and NFL wagering....

My interest would be basically null and void..

Go Irish!

Sept 1st - Michigan vs Notre Dame.in The Big House!

Love me some college football...

Game is in South Bend

GO BLUE!!!

I'm pretty much in the same boat (minus being able to go to camp or a game in Pitt). I just love my Steelers too much. Streams can be found, but the key is quality streams. I think it was Cope who was generous enough giving out the USTVNOW information last season, but I also found a decent stream in sportsarefree.xyz I think. I never had any lag/buffering issues and never had any other overwhelming ad or malware issues.

Looks like USTVNOW cut out Fox unless you upgrade to a paid subscription. Hopefully most of the Steelers games I would need to see with that service will be on CBS.

That sucks about USTVNow making Fox a subscription channel. At least it's only 2 game for the Steelers. It sucks though, I used to record the Eagles games and watch them on the Fox channel.

Replay is ruining sports in general. I hate when the refs take forever on deciding a goal in the nhl too.
The difference is football has stop & go flow compared to other sports which makes the game viewing tedious as hell.

Another thing I dislike is the number of TV commercials. Just plain horrible.

I have Playstation Vue ( you do NOT need a Playstation to have ) for about a year now and I LOVE it. Five simultaneous streams at no additional cost. On all platforms except XBox. I run on my Roku TV, my Apple 4K TV, my PS4, my iPhones/iPads. No issues. You can travel with it. Most like cable/satellite. 4 packages to choose from ranging from 45 - 75 dollars/month. Locals included with all packages. Unlimited cloud DVR. No contract. No complaints.
But compare and contrast with the others. Everyone’s devices/interests are different. But just ditching satellite/cable is the way to go...

Thanks for the good info and referrals.

Sounds like a very smart way to cut the cord but not be without key programming. Will definitely look in it.

Dumb question, but I'll ask anyway: We have several HDTVs, but haven't bought one in seven or eight years. To make all the magic happen that you described, we should spring for a Wi-Fi-capable TV, correct?

Thanks again.

From one week to the next, can you count on USTV Now carrying the Steelers - when they're playing on a Sunday afternoon? Or is it pretty much hit or miss?

Thanks.

.. I still watch most of the Steelers' games, but I rarely watch anybody else. You couldn't pay me to watch the Jags and Titans...ugh...

That's pretty much where I am. I don't think I've watched more than five snaps of a Tampa Bay game in years, unless it was against the Steelers.

With the Sunday Ticket, when the Steelers weren't playing, I'd bounce around from one telecast to another. But I just didn't care that much.

It'll be tough to give up the Ticket. But if I can get a regular fix of the Steelers, I'll get through it. And my bank account will appreciate the effort!

What's the ticket selling for this year? I think it was around $120 back in the mid-90s.

It's popularity definitely skyrocketed. Probably moved a lot of cable subscribers to satellite but satellite was the only game in town for me at the time. Getting a signal over the air from TV towers 30-40 miles away was a challenge but no problem getting a signal from 33,000 miles. Seemed like technology had advanced 100 years when the dish beamed in that signal. I was a TV junkie at the time. I had a separate dish and about a 1/4 mile of coax for trips to the beach, camping, whatever. Had to keep up with Pittsburgh Sports. Who remembers Sportsbeat on KBL before they got bought out? Good times man, good times.

The broadcasts are out of Harrisburg, you'll get most games but sometimes the Ravens get priority if they play at the same time.

S-13 is right. Harrisburg is a Ravens market, so if they play at the same time, the Ravens will be the broadcast. If the game is on Fox, the Eagles get priority, but outside of that, the Steelers are the next up to be played.

I usually check each week and let the site know if they are on.

The only time I even see commercials now, is when I watch live sports. They are so foreign to me now, that I can't stand even seeing any commercials. It's also why I will never us Hulu. Their format is as bad as watching the show on TV.

There are no commercials on Hulu, if you're willing to spend a few extra bucks a month.
Whether it be fees or advertisements, nothing is free. Even with these piracy streaming sites, you're exposing your devices to a bunch of nasty **** that will ultimately cost you one way or the other.

Remember back in the early days of the ticket and occasionally when the network broke to commercial we just saw live video of the field. No commercials. I think they fixed that pretty quick. :)

Those were the days of the big dish in the backyard, finding a live feed, and listen to the comments when they went to commercial. "Do you believe what that **** did?"

And I cut the ticket last year and didn't regret the decision. They were on national TV a lot, and those games where they weren't I was able to stream it on USATV or find a Stiller bar close by.
$360 or whatever the damn rate is now will buy a lot of beer.

Not sure what the NFL is thinking regarding the Harrisburg market, even though there's likely a few Eagles fans there I doubt there's much interest in the Ravens. I'll bet most are Steelers fans.

Damn I'm jealous. All the streaming options, but I'm **** out of luck with terrible internet options with ridiculous data caps. Maybe someday us living out in the country will get connected!

I was quoted $399 (as if pricing it one dollar less than $400 makes it reasonable).

The rep was friendly and polite, but wouldn't budge a penny.

We had the Ticket last year, but went to a bar for a game (vs. the Colts) that was on when our realtor was hosting an open house.

I guess I'm too old, or something, but the thrill of watching at a bar was gone. People walking in front of the screen, no announcers, stuffy inside etc.

But if I have to do it once or twice this year, it isn't the end of the world. Beats forking over $400 - sorry, $399 - to AT&T. When I dropped our landline earlier this year, I cut AT&T out of my (living) will (!)

That was interesting, and sometimes funny, back then. Before getting a home dish, I'd go to the newspaper I wrote for and watch there, or sometimes to one of the local TV stations.. Saw most of Barry Foster's runs that way in the season he ran for 1,600 yards (which I think is still a Steelers record).

During one break I heard Todd Christensen tell partner Charlie Jones, and the rest of the production staff, what he wanted a video of - and planned to say - when they came out of a commercial. Jones' reply: "Whatever."

Data caps are enraging bullshit.

Living ins the Shendoah Valley in Virginia...it is hard to pick up all the games on regular TV. I hate paying out the moola to DirecTV for the package but its still cheaper than going to a sports bar every Sunday.

It was created for overseas troops and the military. It just happened to start in the Harrisburg market, which is why it has all Harrisburg local channels.
