So after about 15 years, I've canceled NFL Ticket.

Wanted to let those of you perhaps still interested in a deal on the package know that I had surprisingly easy success when I called DIRECTV today. Hope this helps someone else.

I let my account go past due for about two weeks. Got my monthly bill with a shutoff date of September 24th. They'd already billed me for Sunday Max two months at $65.99. I called in, didn't choose to make a payment, got the regular customer service department, and said I wanted to cancel service. He asked why, and I said I couldn't afford the recent rate increases and I was upset that I was already charged over 130 bucks for programming that doesn't even begin until next weekend. He said OK and transferred me.

Spoke to a no-nonsense lady, explained my situation, also complained about new customers getting the Ticket for free plus no DVR service fees, which I've been paying for ten years. She said she'd see what she could do, and within 60 seconds, offered me $60 (yes, 60!) off my bill for the next 12 months, no commitment. I thought for a bit in silence, then asked if there was anything she could do about the price of the football package. She came back with $16.50 a month discount on the MAX, with two credits for the months I'd already been charged full price. I took the deal, made my overdue payment (with $4.25 late fee), and smiled.

So yes, I'm still paying about $300 for MAX, which is basically the full price for the regular Ticket, but I'm getting $720 back in credits over the next year. The whole exchange took less than 25 minutes...I guess it all depends on your description of things and more importantly, with whom you speak. Good luck.

I might give it a shot...again.

But I've had pretty good luck finding streams during the preseason. Watched parts of two quarters last night. No issues - my computer didn't turn to mush. Not so far at least.

BTW: Whoever suggested going to Reddit to find streams gets major points.

Reddit has all the answers to the internet. They're like the oracle on the matrix lol.

The past few days - and I imagine until the season begins - AT&T is really pushing the Sunday Ticket.

Yesterday I saw a price of $295. That's $100 less than the original price, and $30 less than I was offered about 10 days ago. This tells me that subscribership has fallen a lot since last season.

If it comes down to $200 I'm inclined to go for it. Having to count on a stream from Uzbekistan or Tanzania can be problematic.

The ticket would be somewhat worth it if you could re-watch games when you wanted too.

You can do that with a DVR. Once you get the Ticket, you can tape a game or games as you would for any other program.

Its a pain but I play cable wars by switching providers every year or so to save dollars. I am back on Direct TV and they threw in the Ticket for switching back. There customer service is just awful and Sunday will be a crap shoot, I will have our game through the Ticket and try to stream red zone or a four game mix on another. I have about Steeler peeps coming over and DirectTV can not give me a simple answer can I watch on one and stream to another. I am sure I wont know until 5 minutes before kick.

NFL sells a different product called Gamepass that lets you re-watch every game. It includes a condensed version which has all commercials and between snaps edited out. It’s just play after play so you can watch a whole game in less than an hour.

The big thing it includes is the coaching film of each game. The "all 22" as it’s also called because it is an endzone shot from up high that lets you see all 22 players on the field. Each play is shown twice. Once from the all 22 and a second time from a more zoomed angle that shows the line play.

The TV broadcast just follows the ball, so you can’t always tell what really happened on a play. With the all 22, you will know when the QB gets sacked if it was the OL’s fault, if it was a coverage sack where nobody was open, or if it was the QB’s fault because he did have a guy open but didn’t see him.

Gamepass also includes all preseason games, although it does not give the All 22 for preseason games. I think it’s like $100 for the season. It’s actually a good deal if you are really into football and want to break down games to know what really happened.
