Obesity is a massive problem. The average bodyfat% for the general population is just off the charts. That is in my opinion our worst health epidemic combined with a sedentary lifestyle. Not a good recipe for staying out of the hospital. Half of the population will be diabetic in the 20-30 years at the going rate. No amount of health insurance will save that from happening. Only lifestyle changes.

No kidding! Probably the biggest reason I've never been able to "eat healthy" for more than a month at a time. There are healthy foods I like but it is ridiculously expensive to buy the ingredients on a regular basis. It's more like a treat every once in awhile in between all the junk foods I can afford.

Agree!!!! And with as perishable as the fruits and veggies are, I have to eat them pretty quickly. I restock the fresh stuff at least twice a week. It's ridiculous.

I think two things. 1) national healthcare, and hence more control over the citizens, has been the Democrats' dream for about 60 years so their piece of **** healthcare plan has been making its way through different desks in Washington for that long with ever more unworkable dreamware added to it and 2) the Republicans in Congress didn't think Hildebeast was going lose any more than the Democrats did so they never bothered to come up with a serious replacement plan.

I'll keep this simple. When it comes to single-payer healthcare, always remember three things:
1. High quality.
2. Low cost.
3. Easy access.
Pick any two. All three ain't happening, I don't care what the Democrats tell you.

The bill sucks. There are no provisions for competition across state lines, giving states more control over Medicaid, allowing people to band together and buy insurance as groups. None of the cost saving measures Republicans have proposed are included, and the subsidies are still there just under a different name.

The only things that will help my family are the fact that perhaps we can buy a cheaper less comprehensive policy and have more pretax dollars to spend on our out of pocket expenses. But nothing to decrease the overall cost of healthcare.
