So is the last go around for Taylor

Mitchell bit on the underneath route leaving Taylor on an island.

Time to give Blake, McCain, and Webb the chance. I wouldn't mind seeing Ike try safety. He sure as hell can't be worse than Mitchell.

It depends. Ike is still our best CB but that's Colbert's fault, not Ike's.

With all due respect Ron, you're kidding right? There's no way you can seriously think he's our best CB. Gay, McCain, and Blake are MUCH better. Hell, I think Allen is as good (not saying much)

Ike's and Tebow's careers both really ended that game.

Somebody forgot to tell Ike.

Evidently, somebody forgot to tell Ike and the front office, and Tomlin.

True, Gay has come on strong this year and last. Point being that they have't drafted anyone to replace him (or most anyone else on the defense).

Strangely, he was our leading tackler yesterday according to the box score...

It's not really all that strange, considering the guy Ike was attempting to cover was catching balls in front of him all day.

As a professional athlete it shouldn't take Mitchell a year to figure out not to let a guy run by him wide open game after game..

At least Blake looks back for the ball and tries to make a play on it. Other than Gay (when he's been in position), all our other dbacks act like they're waiting for the receiver to come down with the ball and then make a tackle...and that includes Troy & Mitchell. The safety play is absolutely atrocious. If you get a receiver open that far downfield, you just have to pray it's overthrown or the receiver drops the pass because neither safety can ever defend a pass thrown in their direction. They're all about the "hit" afterwards, which is rarely successful.

So exactly what happened to Ike? I thought he was benched for ultra-****** performance. But I hear that Blake came in ONLY because Ike was injured. If that is the case, this is very disappointing (although I would expect that from this coaching staff).

They need to sit Ike and ride with Blake the rest of the way.

I won't fault Troy for Green catching that 56 yarder, I'll fault him for not tackling him after he caught it. He lost the ball in the air, and did what he was supposed to do, not let Green get behind him. He was pointing to Mitchell to look for the ball, and he just ran right by Green after the catch. I think it's time to drop Troy into a traditional safety position, and let Mitchell be the "run support" safety. That's what Mitchell is good at, making hits, and blitzing. He doesn't have the ball skills to be the last hope out there, and with Troy losing a step, he's best kept back where he doesn't have to make up as much ground.

What I have read Ike pulled himself from the game due to injuring his shoulder, and a leg. He came out because he could not run which has always been his strongest asset. Ike was also in the game when the Bengals were shut out in the first quarter. He gives it his all and will not fault him too much for getting beat on occasion, The steelers only gave up 21 points on the day not a bad performance. Worilds looked like a fat head stuck out on the turf with the carrot top running by him for a touch down.

I'm not going to blame ike for being brought back, but he's not good anymore, not really his fault, but the coaching staffs fault for not seeing it, and for not found a replacement for him in the past few seasons.

Ike is done. Its reality and its time to move on. Maybe move him to safety and bench Mitchell.

Love Ike and Troy, but are both done like dinner. Both players have contributed a ton here and will be forever grateful for their services, but it's time to cut ties. It will be a sad day not seeing #43 on the field, but when Andy Dalton flat out outran him and he seemed out to lunch, it's time.

Troy will retire as his wife has been lobbying him to do all year. Ike will be cut if he doesn't retire. Mitchell sucks but they just signed him so I don't know what they will do with him. As I said previously, we need to draft the best CB and S available in the first two rounds. No more BPA as we can't afford that luxury any more. It is a glaring weakness and has been. The Mitchell signing has done nothing to help. The only good surprise in our secondary this year has been Willie Gay. He is playing much, much better than last year.

Ike is only under contract for this season. He isn't going to get cut, he will probably just not be re-signed.

Steelers are in deep **** concerning the secondary. Cortez so far looks like an over-paid bum right now.Ike clearly isn't the same player. Troy looks washed up. Not making plays anymore, making bad decisions in reads, always late to the play. Mitchell is a bum that should never have been picked up at safety. That leaves Blake and Gay as our best. There is no way our secondary gets fixed next year. They are going to have to draft replacements and pick up someone that is actually good for a change in free agency. Shamarko is hurt every week,. I don't know what think of that guy. Maybe if Shazier didn't get hurt every week he would lead the team in picks. He has the skills that you can't teach. Shazier would have more picks than the secondary combined.

It's not really all that strange, considering the guy Ike was attempting to cover was catching balls in front of him all day.

Then it confirms he can't cover, but refutes the claim that he can't tackle.
