Let me begin by saying that I think he should go down as one of the best DC's ever. In fact, as far as our coaches go, I would give him the lion's share of the credit in our last two Super Bowl victories. Even in the loss to Green Bay, the defense only gave up 24 to one of the best QB's of this generation who, at the time, was on an unbelievable hot streak, even for his standards. He was torching everyone in those last 4 or 5 games that season, so you can't be that surprised that he did it to us. Actually, our offense out scored their offense that day... albeit by one point... but they still out scored them. Two horrendous turnovers were the deciding factor in that game.
But all that being said, I think it maybe time for DL to get on with his life's work. Sure the defense looked pretty good yesterday, but that was against team that runs a high school offense. That soft coverage he likes to play is no match for the really good quarterbacks in this league. Brees and Luck were the two best QB's we faced and they both lit the Steelers up, and if we end up having to face Manning or Brady... especially Brady, they're gonna light us up too. Brady ate our lunch when the defense was really good... I shudder to think what he could do against this defense.

Give DL a Greg Lloyd, Rod Woodson, Troy or Harrison in their prime again, along with the supporting casts in their day and DL once again becomes a genius. I know this is all about the defense, and they can be terrible against the pass. Recently they've gotten to the QB a little better, and they have even picked off a couple passes this season which is a new thing for them. If they can make one splash play, and if the offense can play like they are capable we have a punchers chance. Make no mistake though, the offense will have to put up at least thirty a game to make any kind of run in the playoffs.

Let me answer so what first, they can be beat and have been beat they are not invincible can't make it planner than that. The team we are seeing now is playing a bit differently than the team a few weeks ago. The team a few weeks before that would have likely beat the saints in a shoot out. They beat cinci solidly recently and cinci just put one on the great pManning and the escaped savior col.sanders. The team has been steadily improving not with flashy stats but with focus and staying in games. If and it is a big if they can continue they are capable of wining this year. They have been playing better than their opponent each week and that is the most important statistic. They have been playing with out devastating mistakes that turn games around. Breeze and company played a really good game against Pittsburgh and seems to have managed to **** the bed in a big way for the rest of the season.

The Steelers are in the playoffs and may not be the odds on favorites to win any games in the post season. But to use a common phrase they have a punchers chance. They posses some very good offensive weapons and have enough that can allow them to keep plugging away and score points. The defense has been quietly getting better. They are not great and might even be a stretch to call good but maybe they can be good enough. Right now they have a much better chance than they have had for the last 2 years which was really none at all cause they were not in.
