Some Thoughts on Possible Changes

I am at the point where I wonder if it is in the Steelers - or this board's - best interest for us to win. Winning will give Tomlin the false sense that 1 - 4 was just a glitch and we'll right the ship before season's end. At the end of this season we will still be no better than 7 - 9 or maybe 9 - 7 so Tomlin can keep his streak alive. The only thing that bothers me about continuing to lose is what it might do to those players that really want to win and can see the futility of the coaching staff's efforts.
I hate to admit it but I feel the same way. We've been on a downward slide the past several years. Tomlin seems to do just enough to justify keeping his job.

The Steelers aren't going to make any trades or big moves during the season - especially this season. There is no point to it and no reason to do it. Play with the men you have. Bring in some free or cheap legitimate help if it's out there but absolutely, positively, do not use any draft capital to do anything. In fact, we need more picks if anything. This team is what it is and with injuries, it is obviously worse than without. That is the "season" we are in with the Steelers. We all knew it was coming with Ben retiring. He covered up alot of the teams and Tomlin's deficiencies. We don't have that now. All we can hope for is that Pickett is truly legit and they can build a team around them. Hopefully, Tomlin does not get to do the picking and only has input into the process. He has not done well in any area over the last handful of years.

I don't agree with there is no point in making changes. The point is to start winning again.

There could be a point if the right opportunity is there but this team is absolutely rebuilding. They are far from being the true competitor we are used to. They will make minor changes and should but spending large capital dollars makes little sense and giving up draft capital makes even less unless you can work out another Minkah type deal. But I don't see any of that happening since we are so far away right now from winning much of anything. All of our dead money ($23 million or so) is freed up next year. We will need to use our cap space to keep rebuilding and the picks we do have. This team is not a player or two away. This team is 2 to 3 years away with a lot of people leaving and a lot of new faces.
