Something has got to give

That's why I said the other day the Eagles game I didn't see us winning. I remember one season with Big Ben,we played them in Philly, and they sacked him like 10 times. It was awful.

If they do two things really well the chances of breaking that long streak are very high.

Pass protection is No.1 and stopping the run, which is Barkley.

Not overly confident in this one. Seems like a matchup even across the board. I think their D is solid against the pass and run but more vulnerable in comparison to the run. So the run and play action should be the gameplan.

They can beat you both ways on D but their specialty is the run so you have to minimize Barkley as already mentioned. Try to make them one dimensional which won’t be easy.

same gameplan as against the ravens, make them pass

I'm thinking it's because we haven't changed our playbook much since then.

That's a HUGE part of the overall problem. It's much easier to beat a team that doesn't change jack ****. At least the good teams with tactical coaches and players who study hard.

The pats***** are the biggest example of that. When you know a team like that has all of your stuff memorized forwards and backwards, plus your calls, and you still don't change ****? You're the dummy and you deserved to lose.

I was probably more pissed off at the coaches Cowher&Tomlin for being hard headed and getting made a fool by the pats*****, than the cheating.

So far, so good.

We need to get off to a faster start, finish early drives for TDs. Hard to wait till 2nd 1/2 to start adjustments, against these more top tier teams.

Salute the nation

What gives is that we win.
All that needs done is for the coaches to let the players know we haven't won there since 1965.

Put a 1965 sticker everywhere. All over the locker room...on bulletin boards, in the cafeteria.

Worried? No but I will be cautiously optimistic over the next 10 days...

KNOW THIS - if the Steelers come out of this 2-1 - we're going to make noise in the playoffs.

Oh and Coach Tomlin should be in high consideration for Coach of the Year.
2-1 is definitely a possibility, 3-0 may be necessary to get out of the #3 seed though

Just feels like we’re gonna be the 3 seed and get either the Broncos or Chargers in first round, both teams we’ve beat…but both teams that should be improved from when we played them last. It’s hard to go 2-0 vs good teams.

This begs the question if we, who have also improved since last we played them, will have improved enough to finally post that elusive playoff victory everyone is craving…hopefully followed up by stacking some playoff victories in pursuit of the real standard.

It was either after that game or the giants game that year, where we also gave up an idiotic number of sacks and hits, that Arians made those press statements that pissed me off so much... about how the deep stuff was open and slants dont work in the NFL..
Either he or Tomlin refused to use quick slants to counter that pressure... the plan was to hope Ben could beat the pressure and hit deep passes...

When I saw this game on the schedule immediately thought not good. They simply do not win in Philadelphia even when the Eagles have bad teams and we have good teams. I don’t know what it is but they seem to just collapse when they play there. Different story when the Eagles play in Pittsburgh we seem to play well and beat them. Maybe the boys fill up on too much Philly Cheesesteaks or something but man they are jinxed in that city.
Seriously the Birds Defensive Line is really, really good and I’m afraid they will be just too much for our young still progressing OL. I see Russ getting hurried all day and sacked. Won’t be able to run on them. Will have to get the ball out quick, screens, quick hitters.
The other side of ball they have really good receivers and we all know about Saquan and what he can do running the ball.
Not looking good here boys! This probably will be a SB team.

Every time I look at this thread, this song starts playing in my head...

Hurts is hot and cold, some of his receivers were not happy yesterday (Brown) and I expect he'll make an effort to include these guys more next week. This has happened a few times this year and Hurts has been less than impressive in some of those matchups.

According to Dulac from the PPG, Pickens will probably sit this game out as well with a grade two hamstring pull. Don't know how accurate that is but the Eagles have a defensive backfield that can play one on one with all our remaining receivers and concentrate on stopping the running game and getting after Wilson.

I'm just gonna relax watching this game with low expectations unless of course we are in it in the final quarter, then the heart rate will rise. If the off target Hurts appears and Pickens plays, the Steelers have a legitimate shot.

The worst was when they lost to Bobby Hoying in '97. Bobby Hoying. I was at that game. The prior home game for the Eagles was a Monday nighter against San Fran, the Eagles stunk, and someone shot a flare across the stadium. For the next home game they put the court room in the stadium. if you acted like an idiot, they'd take you right down to court. All week on WIP they were saying cops will be undercover in Steelers gear. So my brother and I geared up. Nobody said a word to us.

And the Steelers lost. Cowher would lose to shiity teams on occasion, too.

One of my old MySpace songs. Page was filled with Steelers animated gifs with a short song list that would play upon pulling up the page.

Except they have better WRs. I think they have a purer passer too. Will IMO be the hardest matchup to date.
The Eagles also have a better D, best in the league

They’ve been reassembling that crazy dominant GA Bulldog defense over there (Carter, Davis, Dean, Smith, Ringo) and not surprisingly now all those guys are doing what they did in college at the NFL level

I’m not sure who to root for next week 🤣

I will give you a hint.

Chew tobacco….

All valid points that will not go 'unchecked' this year. The Steelers are willing to play in any style of football during any type of weather condition.

Do not think that our coaches won't be dissecting 'how the Panthers slowed the mighty Iggles down yesterday'...I'm just praying that George's hammy isn't a Grade 2 strain - we're going to need him...

It’s going to be a tough task to beat this Eagles team in their stadium. Possible, of course but probable I would be very surprised.
If Tomlin can pull out a win there it would go a long way in quieting his doubters that’s for damn sure.
Chuck couldn’t win there, Bill couldn’t win there and so far Mike hasn’t won there.
I think that distinction goes to the late great Buddy Parker and QB Bobby Lane. That’s almost sixty years so I’d say Newton’s law of averages is long overdo here.
