Sounds like Trubisky is taking hold of QB1 Job

I say go with mitch out of the gate see how it goes. If he does well let him out there. If he and the team struggles start the pickett era
The Pickett Era will begin in training camp... He'll earn the position at Latrobe... Mitch won't get paid (well, except for signing bonus... but his contract is hardly front-loaded...) unless he gets so many (I don't remember the exact percentage, but it's more than 65%...) snaps, and the Steelers won't show him the money if he doesn't play well... He'll be the iron that sharpens the fresh iron that is Kenny Pickett... Competition raises all ships... or a rising tide.... or something...

No worries, Trubisky will be great! Anyone from Ohio or OSU playing for the Steelers has been great. Ben, Lambert, Harrison, Heyward, Holmes, Shazier...

"Benny Snell football" is a University of Kentucky product, not Ohio...

Benny Snell football began at Westerville Central H.S., located in a suburb of Columbus, OH.

The TM term began at UK....
Benny Snell is FROM Ohio. Stewey didn't limit his statement to those who played college ball in Ohio.
Did he really TM the term "Benny Snell Football"? Hilarious!

Like I said from the get go… At qb the Steelers prefer to make rookies sit and learn for a season. Pickett could tgrow for 500 yards a half and not be qb1… barring injury or Rudolph being traded, Pickett will probably
And what evidence in the past 18 years has shown you that??
Mason Rudolph sat because Ben was better, not because Mason was a rookie...

True but as it was shown, BEN was clearly better than maddox and I believe BEN would have been starting by week five regardless of injury.

I hear yaz BUT highly doubt Pickett is clearly better than Mitch.

Salute the nation
agree 100%

Tgey totally planned to do that with ben andcevery backup qb they drafted started out as a third string plus multiple insiders reported it… going back as far as i followed them tgey never started rookie qbs in any position of substance… Ben only saw the field because there were two injuries ahead of him and he was far more talented that those guys even from day 1

Its just the Steelers way

I was excited to see what Trubisky could do as a starter until we drafted Pickett. Now I want Pickett to win the job and start right out of the gate.

Riiiight... the 'I meant to do that..." excuse.....
Which one was it: was it he started because of injuries or because he was more talented??

Are you even a Steelers fan you dolt? the story of ben starting is legendary… they absolutely were going to sit him regardless of his talent level . Thats again a franchise philosophy to sit qbs a year. Ben was amazing during preseason yet they planned for him to be the THIRD string qb regardless

Charlie batch was the backup, but he got hurt and never played that year… maddox was the starter and by the way miffed they drafted Ben to eventually replace him… Maddox started game one. he got hurt during the Ravens game week two and Ben replaced him late in the game. They were losing 20-0 when Ben took over and ultimately lost that game, but he threw two fourth quarter tds and almost brought them back before finally throwing a pick dix with three minutes to go. That was the only regular season game they lost that year…

Im pretty sure if you don’t know the storyvtgat led to Ben starting you are probably just an off-season troll. So enjoy the history lesson and good luck not getting eaten alive here. Minced troll meat is a favorite of many here lol

I know the story... repeating it doesn't change the fact that both answers cannot be the primary reason... Primary means "single most important..." There's more trolling in your name-calling and fandom challenging than in my initial reply, so I don't need to troll to make minced meat of your "point..." Two can't be one.... you dimtwit.... Claiming that sitting a rookie QB is franchise philosophy is myopic and anecdotal, at best, "you smeller of other people's bottoms.... I blow my nose at you...."

you are new around here.

Madinsomniac is not. He may not always be right, but he is 90%++ and is thusly respected by all.

So enjoy yourself here, or not. But you seem to relish in engaging other longtime posters, and then devolving into personal insults. If that is your purpose, than you will probably find that you can get your fill quickly here.

So you dismiss the history and the long term philosophy and the reports before the draft that they planned to sit any rookie for a year regardless… you don't sound very rational . Good luck with whatever narrative you are trying to push.

Who called who a dolt, and challenged the other's fandom?? Here, I'll quote it for you:
"Are you even a Steelers fan you dolt?"
So if that earns him your respect, then you two deserve each other. I didn't devolve, I simply lowered myself to his level, much like someone "dumbs-down" his vocabulary so he can be understood by a two year-old...

Obviously he has the pedigree to paint the barn, he’ll make the defense defend every blade of grass and never blink while doing it. He knows the standard and won’t live in his fears, as obviously, he was never used properly before and will look great in the black and gold.
IF the Steelers have red paint, obviously they'll paint the barn red....

So Benny Snell is from Ohio, but "Benny Snell football (tm)" is from UK, (as I said....)
So, Benny Snell is from Ohio ... As I said .. I couldn't care less if he trademarked the term "Benny Snell Football", or where he trademarked it. Although technically, "IF" he trademarked the term, he did so with the USPTO, at the federal level; not at UK.
Hey, again, thanks for playing slick. But, holiday weekend and all that. I've got better things to do than .... well, this.
Enjoy yourself though.

*Sigh* Go enjoy your holiday.... Admit that what I said, the product that is "Benny Snell football" got it's start at UK, at a patent office in Lexington... Benny Snell, the person may very well have been born in OH.... I didn't mention the person... I simply stated that "Benny Snell football," the product which was sold to the Steelers for millions of dollars (I'm pretty sure there's a law against selling people....) started there. If you have to spin and contort to make yourself feel good, have at it...
I'd rather be Kentucky slick, than Buckeye slime....

Sorry, I didn't read what I'm quoting ... that you wrote ... that paragraph above this. I didn't read it because ...
