This place has gone through a lot of things in the ten years plus I've been around. A lot of the core group of posters I've known and met have either tapered off, or gone away altogether. I've been to draft day summits a few times, and multiple games both in Pittsburgh and out of town. I can tell you honestly that I've met some great people here and have never been disappointed when we've gotten together as any kind of group.
Thing is, that same group is getting older, and with that the give a damn is waning too. ( I ran into Stainless the other night and we talked about just that very thing.) Where it used to be fun to get into these meaningless scraps about Dri Archer, Timmons, Tomlin, or whatever other debate of the moment was, now it's just a waste of energy. Nobody here for the most part changes their stance on anything so you get your Hatfields/McCoys bickering back and forth ad nauseam. Even though I've crossed the line a couple times over the years arguing with folks like Idioteque, for me it's never personal. Banning obvious trolls is one thing, but I'm not so sure banning long time posters is the answer even if you think they are a walking hemorrhoid. Having the team struggle the last few years hasn't helped.
I plan on being a contributor again, I just hadn't gotten back around to it after the last reset. This place isn't for everybody, nor should it be. It's what made it different to begin with. If they put another big summit together I'll be there as long as it doesn't happen during one of my son's lacrosse travel tourneys. Sometimes people just move on, no rhyme, no reason. Good luck to you guys on what you're trying to do. If it gets some of the old guard back that's great.
