Steeleers 3rd round pick = RB Kaleb Johnson

You know my feelings on it. The defense philosophy will change when the offense starts putting the defense in better positions. I would argue the draft already shows a commitment to fixing the issues.

But we NEED the offensive philosophy to change to put the defense in better positions. So the defensive philosophy will remain playing tight, conservative and scared…just like the offensive philosophy. 95% of us refer to a tight, conservative, playing scared philosophy as THE Tomlin philosophy.

Maybe script some awesome first drives that exploit the opposition’s weaknesses? Maybe start scoring more in the first half in general.

The offensive strategy never changes until it’s too late and there is nothing to lose.

Until dippy realizes this he will keep putting his D in a lurch and will continue to hamstring the entire squad. He hasn’t realized it in over 5 years so I’m not holding my breath on ANY significant changes beyond that the new sideline ornaments will be better cheerleaders/depth for the guys on the field.

It’s the old chicken or the egg…
We need better Offensive philosophy for the D to shine (the egg)
Wait we need better Defensive Philosophy for the O to shine (the chicken)
Which comes first?
Screw it, we’ll just keep strutting out the same kindergarten philosophy on both sides as the HC stands there confused hiding behind his shades so you can’t see that “deer in headlights” look he has pondering the solution.

Happy Groundhog’s Day!

Eagles and Bengals are doing it. He doesn't have much leverage yet. Before you make these claims why don't we wait and see what happens. But if you want to go jumping off bridges, I won't stop you.
We’ve already seen Pickens act detrimentally to the team again and again. If you don’t want to see reality you be you

Why? He will now have far more opportunities with single coverage. He may very well thrive this year.

And just a factual point here, but didn't Pickens' best game as a pro come with Rudolph at QB? And didn't Pickens catch 11 passes for 326 yards and 2 TD's in the first two games he played with Rudolph?

This was a very good pick with great value later in the 3rd round. He may be our RB1 this year and if not this year, definitely next year as Warren will be a UFA.

I think our talent is there I just have 0 confidence in the coaching. Our line should have been improved last year, but was mismanaged along with a injury. We had owned the Bengals D with Kenny, Mason, and Russ. Then we inexplicably literally run every 1st and 2nd down till the 4th Q the last game. The Ravens game we came up with some idiotic defensive gameplan. I feel like we could have all-pros at every position and still not win. I feel like Rodgers won't take any BS and do what he wants which is sadly what I think we need. I just don't know if Rodgers is good enough anymore
The Bengals D was the 1 D Harris consistently destroyed. If only he did that consistently against other teams the outcome may have looked different. A head coach that couldn't win with 5 years of the Killer bees is capable of losing no matter what players he has. and to journeymen QB at that. On the Brightside on paper they upgraded at RB, And WR even if they way overpaid. Even an old Rodgers is an upgrade over the picketts, Wilsons and Fileds. No doubt about that. Rodgers had decent stats last year and had the highest dropped pass rate in the league, a bad line and a bad running game.

Totally fine with Rudolph getting pole position in camp and battling with Howard. Block A-A-Ron’s number and move on.

i really hope we don't resign pickens. i hate having to root for him.
I don't see us giving big money to 2x WRs.

But, we're very likely to select a QB in the 1st next year. So with a cheap QB maybe they'd want to have two good WRs?

Seems to me like we'd want an elite route runner / AB type for a rookie though. But maybe having two very good combat catchers is good too. Especially if we remember that PF is on the team when we play teams that aren't CINCY.
