Steeler VS clowns game day thread

The get off the throttle thing is nothing new for us. The twelve yard cushions with a lead after being aggressive early in the game isn't either. Why they refuse to punch a team in the face when they can end a game is beyond me. It's been an issue here for twenty years or so. ****, no matter who was responsible for the fake punt, the damn offense wasted it with predictable play calling right after. It was a huge momentum swing for us and the morons sat on it. I couldn't stand Arians, but there's no way in Hell that offensive sequence would have followed that play.

How soon we forget the Steelers last possession, playoffs, 2007, against Jacksonville ...

Notice how far apart the linebackers and how deep the DBs were on the Browns' first scoring drive of the second half.

Follow that up with a pathetically vanilla run, run, sack and punt sequence by the offense, and one gets a picture of what the mentality of the coaching staff was at halftime. What type of message does that send to the team.

"Let's stay healthy and get ready for Baltimore?"

The 3rd down QB sweep, combined with the 12 yard two-point conversion attempt, with the ultimate margin of defeat being influenced by the failed attempt, is pretty much what made me anti-Tomlin

Ugly game no doubt. There were some positives. Offence was good in the first half. The first score was possible because we did not do back to back big sacks and take the team out of field goal range. The clock management in the second quarter getting the team into field goal range with time was the best I have seen from this bunch, coaches and players.

The second half was horrible. Clock management in the second half was horrid. Execution of assignments on both sides of the ball was terrible. The players not being focused is the fault of the head coach. Poor adjustments in the second half were not effective for much of the second half

I'm listening to Batch on the post game; he says the let down comes from the players NOT SCHEME also give the Browns credit they adjusted and took advantage of our players being over confident thinking it was in the bag.

Also the Browns D line stepped it up and whooped on our O line.

The most interesting thing he said was, no matter what anybody thinks the fake punt call DID NOT come from the sideline, it's an audible made by Golden when in the process of making his reads he sees a guy uncovered. Batch was asked again in disbelief (I guess) and he said again NO WAY does that call come from the sideline. So if it had failed Tomlin would be a goat, if it succeeds he's a genius.

Either way everyone is wrong.

Tomlin in the post game PC says he called the fake that means Charlie doesn't know **** or Tomlin is lying. I'm finding it hard to believe that came from the sideline, how did Tomlin know the guy was going to be uncovered. And if he did call it from that deep in your territory, he's an idiot.

Was the fake punt your call or the up-backs’ call?
I called it.

Hard to doubt Charlie, but I find it hard to believe that Tomlin or any coach would trust a player to make that call especially under the given circumstances. If Charlie is right I also do not know why Tomlin would lie about it other than to make himself look good. It was a risky call, but I personally did not mind it. We had zero momentum at that point and I thought the fake would jump start us, but it did not work out.

Just like Cowher taking credit for the on sides kick in Super Bowl XXX when it clearly was Bobby April's idea.

And once again, this team can not come up with a turnover................long season ahead.

That's exactly what Tomlin is doing - trying to take credit for it. You think he would have claimed it had it not worked? No freaking way. This whole team is a clusterfuck from top to bottom.

On the specials team call with the motion and the movement, Tomlin may have told the players to watch for too many people to move into the line of scrimmage and leave the gunner open...

who else was nervous when that ball was in the air, btw....

He's a moron, plain and simple - but since the Rooneys will keep him for decades, we'd all better get used to it and keep pretending he's a great coach.

I don't care if it worked, it was a stupid call, and if that's the kind of **** you need to beat the BROWNS, you're in big trouble.
