Steelers 1st Round Pick

Lemon starts week one in the slot, Max is a project. Our track record at developing OL is one step up from abysmal. He was not highly rated, most analysts had him as a 2nd round pick at best, early third at worst.
What track record? These guys haven't coached a single lineman that's played for the Steelers.

The fact is that the Steelers were outmaneuvered by Philly and made to look foolish. They wanted Lemon.
Kahn is a clown. Everyone saw how bad he screwed up last years WR room. Crazy to think he managed to blow it again. The fact that Lemon was on the phone with the Steelers when the eagles took him. Thats a whole new level of embarrassment.

A right tackle. Fautanu to LT? Only thing that makes sense.

Wanted Pregnon there since Vega was gone, but...OK. Here we go Stillers!
Rumors before the draft was that they may move Fautanu to Guard... so either they think Jones will play, they are fine with Cook, or they have another plan altogether

We’re not getting a good receiver in this draft. Hate this pick because we could have gotten him in the second round and taken Cooper or Boston in the first.

This draft just played out poorly for us... there werent a bunch of off the wall picks pushing guys down and the talent pool the way it is 21 was just not a great spot for trading or picking... i think the guys from the bottom of the first all the way through the second are all about the same

My guess is they still have a lot of high end options at WR and OL was less stacked for them to wait till the second pick... id feel better if i was more certain about their oline coach

Steelers were on the phone with Lemon when Philly jumped them and took him…should have traded up 2-3 spots and taken him.
I was so ticked off when I saw the Eagles traded for spot 20. I just knew they traded up for Lemon. The cost of 2 #5's got them Lemon. We took the 7th picked tackle in round 1. Fire Rooney and this coach.

Local media damage control to combat Rapoport's report. So, Khan was just calling Lemon to see how he was doing and then proceeded to use the entire clock before turning in the pick? Sure.

Rumor has it we could have traded down and didn’t. Not a fan of Khan anymore. Perfect opportunity to trade down and likely still get Max.
Have a look at the trades that were done. Teams weren't giving up much to move up. Teams moving down three spots were mostly getting middle round pick swaps back.

It was 2 #4's, the first of which was 114, v Steelers 121. This board would probably have been in meltdown if the Steelers gave up 2 #4's (and possibly another pick to make up the 114 to 121 difference) to move up one place. Moving to 21 v 23 likely wouldn't have had any greater value to Dallas, given they drafted an Edge rusher (granted they would have kept Chargers behind them).

You know, it can be true that the Steelers would have drafted Lemon if he was available, and also true that they really wanted Iheanachor once Lemon was off the board. It's also possible they used the entire clock to generate suspense at the home town draft. More likely when they say the opportunity to trade down was there, means the offers to trade down weren't that attractive. As per a previous post I made, look at what teams were giving up to move up (not much) and where they were moving up from (28 and later).

If there's a player you really like and also a couple of others you also like, you might move down a couple of spots, but not 5+ spots, and you might be willing to move down to get an additional second, but not to convert a third to a second, or a fourth to a third.

Also factor in the steelers dont need more mid level picks in this draft and teams seem loathe to give up 2027 picks for some reason... ... also the 8 minute clock makes it harder to shop a potential trade to a team to counter it, so dallas may never have even checked to see if the Steelers would have...

I think they werent looking to drop down to below the bears if they traded down without a substantial return...
