Steelers 1st Round Prediction Thread

If no Bush it will be Savage.

That's what I'm thinking. If Bush is in range, heard Miami is open to trading down.

Then again, who knows, maybe they'll pick a target for Ben.

I really don't want Rock Ya-Sin either but that's based on some combine numbers and only a little video watched. If anybody knows about this guy, sell us please.

There's NOTHING TO SELL - I just spent 10 mins reviewing some of his game tape - and YUCK. He's slow and can't play zone coverage---his tackling is slightly better than Greedy Williams.

I'd take ANY of the top 3 DB's over Rock Ya Sin.

#IhopeI'mWrong

Is Rock Ya Sin who Tomlin is supposed to be so in love with? I heard, close to a man-crush. . .

Yeah I'm with you, I'm not sold on him at all. His 3-cone time was like 7.31, for a CB that's a big red flag. And he's slow and heard he's weak in zone coverage (which the Steelers like to employ). And I heard he's 23 years old or about to turn 23. They typically like their picks younger than that.

A tight end from Iowa.

Someone riddle me this: How much better are Hockenson and Fant than say guys like Sternberger, Warring or Moreau?

It seems we're always dreaming about that Heath Miller type player, but seems that only comes around once in a generation. Not sure any one of these guys warrants a 1st round pick, but did Edwards, Bud or Artie? So who knows if the Steelers have one of these TE's ranked up there at the very top of their board... I don't have a problem with a TE pick in the 1st just hope they've truly identified the 'right' guy as 'the' guy.

Anything can happen in this draft. I'm hoping for Bush just like I wanted Watt a couple years ago. If it's Rock and Tomlin likes him, that means he will suck in the NFL. I go Greedy if Bush is gone.

I think I have settled on Greedy being my favorite of the CBs. Obviously, doesn't like to tackle, which I would prefer, but if he doesn't let his guy catch the ball, he doesn't have to tackle him. I would NEVER EVER blitz this guy.

Short answer: much.

Well, I guess if there's no move-down possibility with the top corners and Savage gone, same w the two Devin's.... we may indeed be drafting our next Heath Miller.

Which wouldn't be the end of the world as long as we pick-up a few impact defenders the rest of the way.

Any player Tomlin has a man-crush with, then I'm not interested. Those players seem to not pan out. Jason Worilds comes to mind. I think he had a woody for Jarvis Jones also.

I try to trade up for White and maybe for Bush if he's within reach(4-5 picks out)

If White, Bush, Ferrell and Hockenson are gone, I trade down if possible.

If no trade with those players unavailable, I think Savage is the guy @ 20.

I hear ya. I just think , we cant expect to go into this season with just McDonald and Xavier grimble. The ILBs after two devins don't warrant a #1. So if they go with BPA and hock is still on the board,, He fits.

Hockenson is quite possibly to most COMPLETE TE in the last decade.
He is an upgraded Jason Witten.
He blocks as well as catches, and he does both of those things EXCEPTIONALLY.
He is a freak. A beast.
A "brings his hardhat and lunchpail" kid that is a more than willing blocker and also a nightmare matchup for defensive coordinators.

His teammate Fant is just another WR. His blocking is nothing to write home about.
Hockenson is special.
He will NOT make it out of the top 10.
To me, there are 2 players that are least likely to bust and have long productive careers.
Quinnen Williams and TJ Hockenson.
Highest floors and ceilings of all possible draft candidates.
I would do my best Redd Foxx if we landed either of them.

I'd settle for Devin Bush, though.

I HOPE WE TRADE UP because this Rock ya crap is starting to piss me off before we are even on the clock....

So THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS is to trade up for Fant or Hockenson....We will need to trade up for either of them....

Well, just heard that Kevin Colbert said this is deep draft for CBs, so that's a good sign they're not going to reach for one in the 1st. Hoping.

I don't want them to trade up for Fant. Hockenson, I would.

My gut thinks they will be all in on White and make a bold move to secure him if he's around about the 10th pick.

Don't see him lasting until 10...The cost would be enormous to get him

As a team we hardly ever play rookies, barring injury to the current starters or spot duty. The Devins and TJ Hockenson are guys that I think would be able to insert themselves into the lineup early just because their talent level surpasses the existing players on the roster. The other guys you mentioned are all options at TE but I don't see the team going after Fant. I would rather one of the others in the 3rd or later if Hockenson is unattainable. We did sign some free agents this year that hopefully will allow the team to draft BPA to build a solid roster going forward. Defense should be a priority but a guy like TJ helps out James Conner with the blocking capabilities and would help to replace some lost AB production. You can't tell me that there is any WR in the draft that Ben Roethlisberger would prefer to see drafted ahead of a possible talent similiar to what Heath Miller brought to the team. We have Ben for 3 more years barring injury so unless the DEF playmakers are still in their reach draft BPA.

To me, the worst case scenario is that the Steeler's actually make a pick at 20 as I'm afraid they're going to reach on a player such as Ya-Sin. If White or Bush go in the top 10 you need to consider trading down and gaining picks. If either White or Bush hit #12 the Steeler's need to start looking to move up and get one of them. It only took a 3rd and 6th pick to move up from #27 to #16 to pick Troy so it shouldn't take much more to get from #20 to #12.

But what do I know...I'll be on the couch in my Dirt Jersey drinking a nice Scotch and eating imported Italian meats with a very sarcastic and bitter attitude knowing in my heart of hearts that Tombert is going to **** this up completely.

I don’t think we trade up for the devins... I think somewhere in this draft we get David long inside linebacker West Virginia... another Ohio linebacker to add to the list of steeler greats. we had everybody but the water boy at West Virginia’s proday ya they have a wr we could use, but mostly they were there to look at long. 5-11 230 4.4 tackle and covers everything I think we get him somewhere in all this... born to be in the black n gold. In fact we could get David long linebacker would and David long db Michigan in third round!!!! I wouldn’t cry!!! Go steelerrrrss!!!!

ditch the meats and go heavy, often and early on the scotch. it will make that 2nd round reach at #20 more palatable..........

My guess is that no matter who they pick, it will be almost universally panned by the members of this forum.

That's a crappy post. You SHOULD have traded down and then you could have gotten a COUPLE decent posts. What? You couldn't even entertain offers from other posters? Instead you reached and posted THIS? And if you HAD to post, why not make the Best Post Available?

Typically the Steelers first-Round pick will be someone no other team would take until the third or fourth round, so Rock Ya-Sin sounds about right...

I get the joke, and it was true with a guy like Edmunds last year, but Ya-Sin is clearly in the group of CB's slated to go 1-2 rounds.
