Steelers 2nd Round Pick

I bet he's drafted before round 3 ends. Any takers? No agenda here. I don't pay as much attention to draft sites these days unless there is a detailed report. Typing in name with 2-3 sentences on the player isn't much, even you can almost do that. The value of the better draft sites to me is to giving list of the 10 best prospects or so for each position, then if I think the Steelers need a player at a certain position, I'll do my own research.

But to be clear I do not want the Steelers to take him in round two. No way.

So, you were aware that he's generally considered around the 5th best Tackle prospect in this year's draft. For example, Profootball lists him as number 5. Personally, in a league that is continuously looking for good Tackle prospects, I've never seen the 5th rated Tackle last until the 3rd round.

JONES won't make it to round three. Coach is just jockeying for position of making a bet totally in his favor.

PS slash I agree on the Tackle first then option to guard.

Well Coolie, who should we look at?

I hear Jones at OT is a round 2-3 type of player, though his workout and write up reviews suggest he's raw, and isn't a left tackle type.

I merged this with my analysis of Jones

as usual you are wrong. Lots of talk of Jones going in round one and plenty of talk of him being a left tackle, though some say he may start at right tackle as a rookie if the team that takes him has a good left tackle

if you would take time and watch a player before offering an opinion, people here might actually pay attention when you give your thoughts.

as I said earlier in this thread, if he is there when the Steelers pick in the 2nd...they should definitely consider him

Okay here is an analysis of Josh Jones

reposting these to hype my boy out of UH

most of what I've seen point out some technique issues which should be improved with good coaching. He played under 3 different coaching staffs at UH and the lack of consistency probably hurt his development some.

Most state he is a high ceiling player

Ugh, I have to click on links? Can't you just tell me the low down...

LOLZ...

If Jone's is there at rnd 2 pick, I'd be disappointed if they didn't take him. I know a lot depends on who is there but our OL is aging out and Josh would be a great infusion.

WHAT say Ye ?

udfa Ohio ST or South Carolina P

Priorities rnd 2 RB OL Wr
hopefully at 26 Houston goes Wr/DL/LB if RB Swift is the type of RB that fits thier system or Akers
if so the next team we have worry about taking taylor is Chargers, than I see ATL with many D needs so if Dobbins or Taylor are there I see them adressing the D.
top 3 3 RB
Taylor
Dobbins
Akers
than Dillon

OL Jonson
OL Ruiz
OT Jones
OT Jackson
OT Adams

WR
Pittman
Mims
Claypool

rnd 3 I am highly focused on OL so these guys
OG/C Jonah Jackson
C/OG Matt Henessy
OT/OG Calvin Thortonthon
OT/OG Saddiq Charles

the only WRs I would consider at 2.49 are Jefferson, Shenault (health is a big concern) and Higgins. Mims has hands issues and isn't an instant plug and play player. I'm on the fence with Claypool, right now he seems like a one trick pony that could develop to much more but needs a lot of work too. Pittman is a possesion receiver, not what we need to compliment our current group, also those kind of receivers are easier found later on and especially in a deep WR draft like this one.

regarding RBs I would only be happy if it were any of Swift, Dobbins, Edwards Helayre or Taylor (the last one is a fumble risk) in that order. Any other RB should wait for later rounds as their apparent talent isn't worth the spot.

if the draft goes as expected heavy QB and OL, WR CB early rnd 1 We can see Miami taking Swift or Akers we just have to hope both taylor gets by LA , and Houston, I expect with the mess ATL has they will take Kmet or a top end CB or if Quen falls him but I expext the rats to take Queen to replace mosley

The draft is also heavy at WR.

Steelers should draft players that will help the team win NOW and help Ben win NOW. Forget about getting his heir in this draft.

100%. They had a first round grade on Mason Rudolph. Now there are some things to both support and refute that grade from last season. However, who is to say what you would get at 49 is any more than a project possibly better than Rudolph.

I haven't soured on Rudolph. He was fantastic before the concussion in the Ravens, that we ended up losing in OT. Then he got brained by his own helmet a few weeks later. He looked way more timid in the pocked and the Steelers were right to Play Hodges at that time. When Rudolph worked back into the lineup, he looked good again, until he was again hurt and wouldn't play the rest of the year. For his first year of action, I thought his overall performance was quite well. He has room to improve, and I expect improvement in training camp.
