Steelers' George Pickens Seemingly Sends Strong But Simple Message To Pittsburgh's Front Office On Social Media

I would not trade Pickens, and do not get the talk of wanting to trade him. He is an elite WR. We have wanted 2 ...at least 2 WR that were capable of drawing attention, and the talk in here is trade one of them??? Why? pay the man.. We need as many weapons now, what is it that everyone is going to do with a 2nd round pick that is better than GP? I am concerned with peoples mindset, honestly....I live near Cleveland, and it surely sounds like Browns fans in here..lol...Lets get rid of him, he whined more than I like... :) He is a kid that is in the spotlight, that is great. Yeah he wants the ball more, I would too, but with no talent on the other side of the field....yeah we need DK so GP can shine too. I personally do not care if their hair is blue or they whine at not getting the ball...if they open the field up for the other..let's go! In fact let's get us a slot reciever to go with them, so no matter who is throwing the ball, someone is looking at him with wide open eyes!

Wait...BLACK KNIGHT said we were the Jets this morning...You both can't be right...But you can both be wrong

Yeah you’re right
The Stains have had more playoff success than the Steelers lately

The Steelers need a makeover to look sexy like the Stains with that “recent” playoff win…heck the Stains have back up head coaches outclassing Tomlin in the playoffs so we’d need a HUGE upgrade at HC to be that sexy when we look in said mirror.

And Kupp still would not be that second receiver, sweat pants model…sure. Viable 2, not so much

Tell me you’re right when it happens
Then I’ll truly be shocked and give ya your kudos

They’re not paying two WR, especially for an Arthur Smith offense, and Pickens is a lousy teammate who quits on the field when he’s not getting the ball. How do you think he’s going to react being demoted in his contract year?

Hope he’s a draft day trade.

It's funny that you say a bad teammate...because there are several interviews and articles floating around claiming the exact opposite. And without actually being in the locker room, you can't make that assessment. And again with this demotion talk...where has ANYONE said that he is getting demoted? In fact, Khan said they wanted to PAIR DK and GP. They didn't bring DK in to take GP's place, but to help him out. Right now it is 1a and 1b. They will both be starting WR's. And enough of this "we aren't going to pay two WR's" nonsense. I've already shown that it is being done around the league with Hill and Waddle, Chase and Higgins both about to get paid, St Brown and soon to be Williams. This isn't 10 years ago where the cap is 143m (which by the way, we were able to have Ben, Brown, Troy, Harrison all on large deals), the cap is 280m. Which is why you're even seeing the 30m per for WR's.

If I don't have WR's that are complaining that they are not getting the ball enough, I don't want them really... I think he is going to get the ball more! He had to fight being doubled, with no real threat on the other side of the field. There was no need to worry about Najee catching the ball, half the defense met him at the line on screen passes and on the Arthur Smith favorite play half back toss....to Najee..just why? , so no extra db's needed, just cover the biggest threat.

I kinda hope we trade the "lets ***** about everything we don't do, but when we get help to do it ...let's trade him for someone else or a draft pick and start all over like the Browns do" ...on draft day....

I'd doubt Arthur is here next year to run that offense. With that in mind, having DK and GP would be very enticing to any up and coming OC.

Problem is, we'll dust off some has been nobody and bring in their small rb up the middle and fat back outside offense as long as the foward laterals are on the perimeter of the hash marks and close to the sideline.

Forward laterals are a penalty, we can't risk penalties or turnovers.

We ain't the Stains & we ain't the Jets...This is a ridiculous convo...

Never said we’re the Jets
And the Stains have been more successful in the playoffs…so we ain’t that good with Mikey either

So yup we’re somewhere in that grey area between the Jets and Stains

Thank you Art Nutting

Can you imagine the nightmares this DUO is gonna give DC's ???

This is why Aaron makes more sense...AR will spread the rock around to both them guys...I guarantee it
Garret Wilson and Davante Adams aren’t too shabby and it didn’t help the Jets win many games.

The Pittsburgh Steelers made the NFL world go crazy on Sunday night when the decision was made by General Manager Omar Khan to trade with the Seattle Seahawks for wide receiver DK Metcalf. As if the move wasn't enough, the organization is giving him a new contract that is worth $150 million over five years. Many have speculated what this means for 2022 second-round pick George Pickens. The team could simply have him play out the final year of his rookie deal and allow him to test free agency, but trading him, or offering him an extension are also options that remain.

I am not sure it matters with no QB to throw to them. I don’t think Rudolph is up to the task.

I blame Ark for this.

The Jets D was the reason they lost so many games. Towards the end of the year, the offense started to click a little more, but it was too little too late. Also Garrett Wilson, for all the hype that he gets, isn't the matchup nightmare that either DK or GP is.

I'd pay him, and I'd pay him big, but I'd put so many qualifiers for behavior in his contract if he acted like he has so far he'd end up owing me money.

Joe

Well, he missed 3 games, had no one opposite him to take the constant doubles away... But I guess you can make the stats say anything you want.
You can make all the hypothetical excuses in the world for #2 WR production.
The guy opposite him was the #1 WR, 40% more catches, more yards and more TD's.
Thats what the stats say.

Something to consider. The Steelers have never paid two WRs top money.
When Hines and Plex were together they let Plex walk and paid Hines.
When Mike Wallace and AB were together, after Wallace turned them down they gave the money to AB and Wallace left.
They won’t pay George they will trade him and my guess it will be at the draft to try and recoup that second round pick.

When asked about George showing up late for the Xmas game, several players said he’s late to everything. He literally loafs on the field when the ball isn’t coming his way and doesn’t block on run plays, he throws tantrums when he doesn’t get the ball enough.

Would be a ridiculous Bengals-level move to pay both him AND Metcalf.

The Steelers have room to pay both, a situation they haven’t frequently been in…and a new GM that doesn’t seem scared of bigger contracts.

If they draft a QB early and don’t waste money on a douche like Aaron then they have plenty of cash to make it happen.

In the past when those scenarios unfolded it was not a no holds barred passing based league. Seeing how hard they had to work to get DK after many other failed attempts at bringing in a receiver I wouldn’t put tagging GP or extending him with a contract similar to DK off the table.

The NFL is flush with cash from all the revenue sources and the cap goes up drastically every year.

It is definitely a different climate in the league now.

I’m not saying it’s a sure thing, but most definitely a possibility.

You may be right! Depends if or not they’ve had enough of George’s antics. We shall see!

Meh

If by Bengals level move you mean having two threats in a passing league and trying to actually get to a SB sure…having two good receivers would be a move in that direction.

It is way too easy to shut down 1 guy and take him out of the game.

Pretty much every SB contender has two good receivers in today’s passing league.

Now they have to figure out the elusive QB issue they been lacking in for years.

I’m hoping the contract year makes him focus in, if that doesn’t not sure what will…maybe a HC that runs a disciplined operation?

When asked about GP, Bishop and Elliot said he's a great teammate and is extremely misunderstood. Also said the media treats him differently.

GP, and the misconceptions about him, is a case largely manufactured by media hacks searching for clicks to keep there sorry careers alive cause they aren’t nearly as good at their jobs as GP is at his.

He is an easy target for click bait hacks and he frequently deals with them as well as you could expect from a young guy.

If the click bait hacks were worth their salt they could come up with some actual legit content but instead the hacks go for a perceived easy target and people lap it up…so GP deals with a boatload of unnecessary BS cuz his idiosyncrasies are beyond the realm of contemporary comprehension.

But what is much worse is when your game is so irrelevant nobody is talking about you…looking at you Van Jefferson and all the other “good guy”scrubs.

The Bengals OL and defense are keeping them from a Super Bowl, they had all those receivers and Burrow last year and missed the playoffs.
