Steelers @ Jacksonville

http://espn.go.com/blog/pittsburgh-...lers-roethlisberger-clarifies-run-pass-option

PITTSBURGH – Ben Roethlisberger elaborated on the critical third-down play late in last Sunday's game that resulted in a 2-yard loss and forced a punt with the Pittsburgh Steelers nursing a 24-20 lead.

Roethlisberger
Technically, it was a run-pass option, Roethlisberger said, but the veteran quarterback said the only way he was going to throw the ball was if the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t cover one of two receivers.

Heath Miller was one of those receivers, but the Buccaneers covered the veteran tight end.

“The line was run-blocking all the way, so it’s not like you can drop back and throw a pass,” Roethlisberger said. “If you want to call that a run-pass option, I guess it is. But it’s pretty much a run, and we have to believe that we can get that when it’s called.”

Running back Le'Veon Bell was thrown for a loss with the Steelers needing 5 yards to get the first down that would have closed out the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay drove 46 yards for the winning touchdown, scoring with seven seconds left to stun the Steelers.

Roethlisberger said on his weekly radio show earlier this week that the Steelers need to get tougher. He reiterated that on Wednesday but also said the 2-2 Steelers also have to take a bigger picture look at where they are a quarter into the season.

“Well, you’re definitely a little disappointed in our record,” Roethlisberger said, “but you look at the silver lining in that, ‘Hey, last year we were 0-4.’ So we’re doing better than we were last year, but we’re still going to be disappointed where we are. We’re starting over now.”

exactly what i said.

You lie like Tomlin coaches, like ****.

That link doesn't support your argument at all lol They covered Miller last week, they didnt this week, simple as that.

The men played situational football after we turned over some rocks back at the lab obviously with just enough splash plays to win the game if you will, obviously.

Don't forget " Such is life in todays NFL"

My fav. you know since we need to be reminded that it's really hard being a coach today as oppsed to back in the day when those guys had it easy, so lay off me.

Good thing were not into style points

A win's a win, I guess. I will be surprised if we beat Cleveland next week especially now that they have Tate back.

Network switched over to the Dallas game. Haven't shown Jerry Jones once. Surprising.

That speaks pretty clearly

they are supposed to be run blocking..

At this point, with this team, I don't really care who we beat or how it gets done. We aren't good enough or coached well enough to be picky.

Only idiots who are too stupid to see reality and defend Tomlin at all costs think it was a pass/run option, shocking his biggest nut sucker would be one.

Colts beat the Rats.

Yes, on a running play

Its same as on some of the quick hitches. Only the wr and Qb know its a pass. If you spent some time watching football instead of just talking about it you would know these plays are a big part of football now.

Moye doesn't take a spiking penalty and then get into it with the coaches on the sideline. LOL.
"PSU, PSU, PSU......"

What? A hitch is one of several pass options for a QB, but the key to the play is that IT IS A PASS PLAY, and the offensive lineman are not pushing defenders down the field while run blocking.

If you are saying that Ben had the option of changing the play out of a running play and into a pass play, okay, yeah, I guess. But it was called as a running play, not a "hitch" or a slant or a seam route to the TE.

From the QB's own words

From your own article

This is why you're not taken seriously

It was called what it was Run/pass if Heath (or a second Receiver) is left uncovered like he was earlier in the game Ben throws it. what the hell he says it right in the link i provided. The oline is run blocking because that's the way the play works

exactly what i said in my orignal post. if left uncovered. I said that.

I find it hilarious though that not one of your posts in this thread are about any actual play from today's game.

Right, because I couldn't watch it. Why would I post specifics on specific **** I haven't seen?

that was the play call last week except the bucs didn't leave miller uncovered. so they ran it

End of discussion.

JJ you call him out for lying then post a link that backs up exactly what he said.

He opted not to bold the next couple of lines:

You didn't see lasts week either. If you did you would know Heath had a big gain on that play earlier and ben missed him another play wide open. Bell also had a big run on that play.

Tell you what i will continue to ignore you on anything game related since you don't see them.
