Steelers @ Jacksonville

I find it hilarious though that not one of your posts in this thread are about any actual play from today's game.

On 3rd and 1, with the game in question, Ben threw to a wide open Miller for a 1st down.

Meanwhile, last week, on 3rd and 5, with the game on the line, the play called was a run that resulted in no gain.

He opted not to bold the next couple of lines:

Why does he need too? He pointed out a particular play, saying it was the same as last week but had a different outcome because Miller wasn't covered. It is what happened lol he doesn't need to defend the fact it never occurred last week.

You want to get technical Ben throwing it today pretty much contradicts his own comment.

You didn't see lasts week either. If you did you would know Heath had a big gain on that play earlier and ben missed him another play wide open. Bell also had a big run on that play.

Tell you what i will continue to ignore you on anything game related since you don't see them.

I actually did catch last week's game. LOL swing and a miss. What makes you think you know which games I watch?

You are the easiest target on here, which says a lot. Ignoring me is probably best for you; football discussion isn't your thing. Might wanna stick to analyzing the Xs and Os of SportCentury DVDs.

Before I go to ignoreland.. wanna comment on Ben saying "the line was run-blocking so it couldn't really be a pass play"? You've dodged it 2-3 times already.

He opted not to bold the next couple of lines:

Because they covered heath which they didnt do before. Which is what i said. So why am i bolding anything else.

THE LINE IS SUPPOSED TO BE RUN BLOCKING. THEY WERE RUN BLOCKING ON THE OTHER TIMES THAT PLAY WAS CALLED TOO. THE OPTION COMES IN IF HEATH IS LEFT UNCOVERED.

Never been so dissatisfied with a W

I just do not see this team making strides to improve.

It is going to be a long long painful to watch season.

no you didnt stop it

some punctuation would make your whining readable.

Do you watch my house or something? If so, get some new binoculars.

you didn't see last weeks game either. That better?

for me, the most glaring play that this team does not listen or care what Tomlin is preaching is Moore's spike after getting a freakin' first down. To top it off, a few plays later Bell also gets a first and does his first down point. Obviously, they care more about style points. I still see an undisciplined and sloppy team that are lucky they were playing a first game rookie. CLE will kick our *****. Book it!

i'm trying to discuss this without meeeeean name-calling btw

your schtick is old buddy so old. Get back to me when you actually watch a game bruh.

And you saw last's week?

Ben admitted he targeted Brown on the late deep ball in order to keep Brown's 5rec/50yd streak going. Unfuckingbelievable.

I've caught 3 of 5 this year sport.

Was that too mean? Here comes ANOTHER PM about it. Yeesh.

Don't waste your time with him. He's from one of the biggest shitholes on earth and probably is a jobless bum that's clueless about the world

Not if Brown was open (wink). As far as the WR screen that actually DID keep the streak going; didn't they do that more than once in order to get Hines to his milestone (1000 receptions)? I don't remember much complaining about it when it was done for him.

And to help you and Andrew in your debate here's how the run/pass option probably works. The play is sent in. Ben alerts the Offense as to what play has been called. Ben then makes a call at the line, based upon what defensive formation he sees that alerts the rest of the Offense which option will be used. Thus, Ben has the option of making the play a run or pass. He probably called the run play based upon the defensive formation last week and the pass play based upon the same this week.

There probably was some. But the fact that it KEEPS happening is the issue. Whether people liked/didn't like that is irrelevant.

I get that, thanks. But Ben himself said the line was run blocking so a pass couldn't have worked there. Which leads us to the origin point of the whole issue: why a run/pass option at all? That's a passing situation and that's that. Unless you're a turtle-ball team who thinks only about field position and plays not to lose (which doesn't work great for them anyway).

The play is called a run, and Ben can option out to 1 pass option - a pass to an uncovered receiver.

That is true of any called running play, by the way. It is even true of the punt team ... if a receiver is uncovered, simply audible to throw to the uncovered receiver.

However, what is equally clear is that the Steelers did not call a pass play, with multiple pass options, and give Ben the option to change the pass play or change to a running play, as dictated. Instead, he had a running play called, with run blocking, with perhaps 1 pass "option" and nothing more.

That is the criticism of the call.

Now YOU'RE the one who's getting a whiny PM about mean name-calling. You asked for it.

Interesting. Thanks for the explanation.

sorry to disappoint you but i have two jobs. AND SINCE YOU'RE FROM JERSEY TOO YOU'RE WELCOME TO COME SEE ME ANYTIME

Looking at the play that was run this week (same as last week I believe). The blocking is definitely run blocking. It appears that what determined/determines whether the play is a run or pass is, as Steeltime said, whether a receiver is left uncovered or not. In this game, the play was run back to back on the last drive. First play was a Bell run when all of the receivers were covered. The second play was the pass to Miller where the Safety was playing deeper off of him. What's interesting to me is that in both situations, there are four receivers running patterns and the Slot receiver kind of stays home as if for a WR screen, freezing the CB and allowing Miller more space to operate in when the pass option is used.

I give Haley a lot of crap, but that's a nicely designed play.

Actually, it's a better designed play than I gave it credit for. Because if that CB decides to cover Miller, the Slot is open and the screen still picks up significant yardage.

Which is what I know is what I said in the first place. IF HEATH IS UNCOVERED.

Is everybody on this thread drunk? The last 3 pages were hilarious. Or maybe it's just me. (I am drunk.)

Anyway, they beat the spread. That means that they did better than the pros thought they would do. And the steelers rarely beat the spread. They have too many fans. And fans bet with their hearts. So they always give the opponents more points than they should to even out the betting.

Anyway, They went into someone else's house and won. The jags may be below average but they don't suck. They've got a rookie QB with some talent and a decent defense that just happens to be a little less diciplined than ours. I can't call this the greatest win in steeler history but it was solid. And after last week that's enough

Good points. And did anyone notice that the "******" TB team went in to N.O. and almost upset the Saints? They put up 31 points on em.
