In the Pittsburgh Steelers community, it is widely known that they haven’t had a losing season since 2003. However, not everyone seems to understand how impressive that is. The Steelers now have 17 straight seasons without a losing record, and in a tweet posted yesterday by reporter Warren Sharp, it was shown that the next such streak isn’t even close.

The next closest team is the Seattle Seahawks at nine seasons, and that eight year gap is insane. The list also shows that there are only three teams in the entire NFL with a streak that is more than five seasons.

Interestingly enough, this streak also perfectly coincides with Ben Roethlisberger’s career. Since being drafted in 2004, the future Hall of Fame quarterback has managed to keep the Steelers with a record of .500 or better in each season. This stat says as much about the Roethlisberger’s success as it does about the Steelers organization.

There have been talks about the Steelers lack of recent success in the playoffs, as well as several media members expecting a down year in Pittsburgh.

The lack of playoff success hurts, but being in the conversation year after year is the first step to eventual playoff success. And to the media members writing the Steelers off, keep going with it for the clicks as it will only help fuel the fire under an extremely talented team.

Whether or not you are happy as a fan of the direction of the Steelers are headed, there is no doubt that the fans of the Steelers have had it best over almost the last two decades.

To me the surest way to be a non championship team is to live in the middle. Ask a Toronto Maple Leaf fan about that one. When this team constructed its Super Bowl teams was some pretty lean years between 2002-2004. You have to go to the bottom to get to the top.

We haven't lived in the middle! We have lived in the top half or better. Even bad years we were the last team out and we won how many games and Divisions and went to how many Super bowls in that time frame? 3 winning 2. It sucks it has been awhile but I wouldn't trade what we have as an organization for any other one out there including the Cheatriots. They might have more Trophies but we did it honestly and with better character. I honestly have no complaints as a fan despite my desires to see them win the Superbowl. I try and live my life as a glass half full type of guy. We have honestly been totally spoiled by this team and it shows sometimes. I have said it on here a time and time again living in Ohio the reason most fans here hate us more than anything is the fact we sometimes don't appreciate just how ******* good we have it. **** we have the most wins in the entire 16 game era!

That's a nice record and all, but I really wish we held the record for most playoff wins in the last decade or something a little more meaningful like that.

I know, I'm a spoiled fan for wanting more out of such a talented team with a HOF Quarterback so I'll just have to work on my optimism.

the streak the streak
it is still intact
but we can't buy a playoff win
that is becoming
a fact

fans just have to temper
down, down their
expectation
or yinz
just might
come away
again

EXCELLENT POST !!!!

We are the most winningest team since the merger and that included the 14 game seasons as well. the cheatriots are not worth mentioning due to their cheating ******* ******* ways.

What most fans feel with this current coaching regime is that they are being short changed yet being told you are in the bonus money. Many here feel the STEELERS have been the MOST talented overall team in the NFL for the last decade and yet has so little to show for it. NON-losing seasons are A-ok but you need Play Off wins to go with that to actually make them special.

I am a life-time fan of my beloved STEELERS and never under appreciate them. I to look at the bright spots and always positive, hell my Blood type is B + (positive) so there is that

BUT

I can fully see the "short changed" feeling.

It takes at least three wins in the playoffs to win a Super Bowl. The Steelers have 3 since 2014. You call that the top half or better man. Really???

YOu have to be in the top half or better to get to the Playoffs. Yes I call it that. I want them to win every year but I appreciate what we have. Do you? Is there a team with more Super Bowl wins or total wins than us since the merger? That is worth appreciating. If we won every year would it really be that damn special when we do? The suffering and complaining and bitching makes it all that much more worth it when we win because it is rare to win the Lombardi.

I'd prefer us win at the highest level. The playoffs take a different kind of resolve, tunnel vision and a little health luck. Just ask the 76 Steelers about health luck at the end of the season. Probably the most dominant team they've ever had that fell short. ******* dirty raiders.

I'll definitely take winning over losing anyday, but last year was as deflating as a Tom Brady football.

That left a mark. We haven't been competing in the playoffs for a long time. It's been embarrassing to watch. From Denver&Tebow, to the Jagoffs, to the Browns this last year.

I'd trade a few mediocre "non losing seasons" for a team that plays like a champion when it's championship time!

Second place is first loser.

"The standard is the standard"

I find it funny some here don't think we as fans that we shouldn't get upset with the desired outcome of the last 10 years.
Our playoff record resembles that of the lean 80's years. The talent of the roster could be compared to the highest in the league of the past 10 years. The talent of the 80's not so.
But yeah. We all should be happy that we have underachieved these last 10 years drastically I guess. I would rather have a HC coach up a less talented team than a HC coach down one of the most talented teams.
This is simply why sometimes you have to move on from a HC. I look at Andy Reid when he was with the Eagles. Above average coach. Simply never was able to get over the hump and win that SB. They part ways and in the end it worked out well for both parties.

I’ve been thinking that I will take a different approach to Coach Tomlin this season. See, I started by not calling him cool shades. I’m going to give him another chance in my book and see if he can guide this team to more than just a non losing season. Get into the playoffs and win at least one and God help me, two playoff wins. I’m going to try and go with the mindset of Art II who obviously has a vision with Tomlin and look for the good things. Maybe it will change our luck especially in the playoffs. Hay, what do I have to lose here.

So you guys are quoting stats that include the 1970s to today to say the Steelers are on track at this current moment.🤣. Ok. Yes the Steelers are the most successful franchise since the merger. 100%. What does that get you next season? Maybe the Deuce can sign Tomlin's son to be in line to take his father's job when he dies in 35 years cause Mike has been so successful. How anyone believes Mike Tomlin should still be coaching this team much less get a contract extension after the last three years is literally beyond me.

I will say this team shouldn't get credit for the 70s stats. Not when it concerns Tomlin. A more fair comparison is his playoff record vs everyone else.

everyone else as in past STEELERS coaches or everyone else as in current head coaches. I'd say current head coaches, the standard is the standard.

I truly hate the Cowher/Tomlin comparisons. This though seems to fit the discussion....I remember how it felt when it seemed every year Cowher would get us to the AFFC game and we would have a big let down. He got us over the hump eventually. We trended upward. Tomlin with the last 10 years seems to be trending downward. Even with the very talented rosters he had. In the end it is what your HC does with the talent. Tomlin has failed miserably with arguably some of the most talented teams in the NFL. Change isn't always a bad thing. Even Cowher walked away.

I guess it is how people view that .500. Some fans might be ok with it and some might be disgusted with it. I tend to hover somewhere in the middle. But that drops when I think about having a HOF QB year after year. But if I think about regular season wins vs like losses it goes back to that somewhere in the middle way of thinking.
