Steelers put in bid to host 2026/2027 NFL draft.

Going to Kippenheim. It is a vacation/ family visit. As my sister and her husband lives there. She has 3 dogs and 4 cats. So a lot of walking, a few deli's and restaurants and a lot of visiting. Done the travel around Europe thing it is so easy to do from Germany. This time I will just be glad to see her and hang with her.

If any of yinz need a life coach I will just send you there. 😅 She is always coaching me up. A lot of Germans are all about staying healthy...
Driven through Kippenheim while going from Heidelberg to Frankfurt. Also nearby in Colmar, Keyserberg, Strasbourg etc while in eastern France. Beautiful area. Actually conceived not too far away at Ramstein AFB

I was born at Landstuhl their major medical hospital.

The problem is not the number of people attending the event, but the number of those people who will need several nights of accommodations. It’s not a drive in and out in the same day event like a game.
Downtown Pittsburgh has plenty of capacity to handle the requirement the League office requires. Plus, peripheral areas around the city will have room. I think the minimum is 400k capacity for rooms for the draft. I went to the 2019 draft in Nashville and it was fantastic all three days. Blew away all attendance records at the time. Nashville just closed four downtown city blocks right there across from the river. Centerstage on Broadway, with all the clubs and cafe’s in those blocks within walking distance and most had live music when the draft wasn’t going on. My brother enjoyed it immensely too and he has been to a SB at Jerry’s World. Nowhere near the volume of people than at the SB and SB week, but that experience was different. Only two teams fan base were there (at least true football fans, most of it is corporate fodder.

Having all 32 teams fanbases in a host city was unique and for the most part the majority of fans were “respectful”. However, my group got into it with some Philly fans and my son and I had some Stain fans claiming they were going to own us. Their typical modus operandi.

I‘d would love to go again, especially in the Burgh. I’ve got family there so hotel reservations wouldn’t be needed this time. It is expensive, as there are all kinds of vendors there. Having stage at Point Park maybe? IDK, downtown isn’t a perfect grid like Nashville.

Your group had words with those classy folks from Philly and Cleveland, hard to believe. You guys must have instigated it, probably wore a Steeler jersey or something outrageous.

They didn't exactly say it, but it sounded like they'd set up a stage somewhere outside the stadium. I assumed North Shore Drive in a setup similar to Nashville (on a side note, they should've included housing in the North Shore development to blend the destination bars and restaurants with some everyday businesses all built around the transit station). Again, the beauty of this event is it doesn't have to be a record crowd, instead the size of the crowd will match the size of what the city can hold.
