Maybe they're also considering moving him back to safety. Interesting pick.
Hybrid lb/s for the nickel

He has a history of shoulder issues. During his UW career, he has torn the labrum in his left shoulder twice and torn the labrum in his right shoulder once, require four surgeries.
Didnt this guy convert from Safety? this is the kind of guy who can add defensive play flexibility if he can play the LB position well... until then big fast special teamers are always needed
He cannot rush the passer if the USC game is any indication. The only time he got near the QB on the pass rush was when a RB was assigned to block him. When an OT took him on, Feeney was disappeared. it looked like a little kid trying to get past his big brother on the pass rush.
Maybe they are going to go full Carnell Lake with this guy. Put him at safety?
He's got a frame to put on weight, and the overall instincts to play OLB in our system.
Again, we're only talking about 15 pounds and some edge bending technique here. He's got EVERYTHING else we'd want in a rush linebacker. Let the coaches and Harrison have some time with the kid.
Well I hear ya. I just don't see very many "Projects" come to fruition. Hines was a success. So was Ike. Bother drafted by "others". I guess moving Timmons inside could be considered a project success.
IMO, he don't have the *** to hold the edge.
Incredible athlete but 4 shoulder surgeries while in college. Freaky workout numbers, runs a 4,41 forty at 6' 4" tall
James Harrison wasn't a project?
What round was Antonio Brown picked in?
Brett Keisel?
Aaron Smith?
Come on man. Give our coaches some credit. They've made some very good starters out of some 3rd day picks.
Sweet titties Parker, Hoge, Stallworth, Gay, Beachum etc etc etc
Steelers are known to be one of the better teams for picking late round and undrafted gems and having them produce...
I guess everyone is assuming Feeney will be an OLB. Is it just me or does anyone else think he might switch to ILB.
I agree - if the kid adds 15lbs - he won't have the same speed as he does now. That's just the facts. More below...The conversation in this thread, is what I'm referring to. He's not prototypical of our outside lb's or our inside lb which is what I believe zumwalt is assumed to be. If its stupid to wonder at his purpose is, so be it.
Wait for it - it's coming....Sounds like a Shazier type player. Damn good size and range. Hope this guy can make the team and stay healthy
And there you have it. I know Coach Porter is signing off on Feeney to be an OLB; but, methinks (and I know, I know, this ain't my paid job) that Feeney is Timmons heir-apparent. Just my gut feeling...I guess everyone is assuming Feeney will be an OLB. Is it just me or does anyone else think he might switch to ILB.

How about let him make our roster first?
