Steelers/Texans game

What does everyone think Metcalf will do? Will he be a difference maker? Will he open our O up? Or will we just throw screens and 4 yard hooks/outs to him all game?. Will Muth be a bigger factor in the passing game? Or will Austin or Gainwell out preform him?

DK at minimum will draw protection away from the others mentioned, that in itself will help.

I see 4 nice mid-to-longer passes his way with success, that will aid in the running game as well.

Not a break-out huge game, but enough to turn the tide in a degree for a win.

Tomlinization will be the determining factor on win/loss.

No foot on gas will result in a loss.

If the Steelers utilized their TE’s a lot more, they would be decent on offense.

Don’t know why since Ben and Miller dropped off they have been allergic to the middle of the field

This game is all about the start. The Steelers have notoriously started slow for a long time now, including in the 6-game playoff losing streak. Tomlin has famously downplayed this in public, I hope behind the scenes they're doing something different.

If the Steelers fall behind early and become one-dimensional against this pass rush, Rodgers may not finish the game.

What should happen is we come out firing. I don't mean 40 yrd bombs. Just slants, TEs down the steam, crossing routes, etc etc. What will more than likely happen is 2 yrd outs, and some variation of lateral passes then punts. I think we can hold the Texan offense down so I believe the game will be close and could go either way. I just can't put faith in the coaching staff to not do the same things we have been doing. I had no hope of beating Balt or Buffalo the last 2 yrs, but i feel this game is winnable

I like the match up tonight. I hope they keep CJ upright. Call me crazy, but I'd rather the Steelers face CJ vs Davis Mills-I get the Kelly Holcomb vibe from him. I like the Steelers defense matchup vs the Texans offense. The defensive backs have played solid. I like our CB matchup vs the Texan receivers. Collins vs Porter Jr will be fun to watch. DeSean Elliott hinted at possibly being back we shall see. Having him back could be huge-though I think Ramsey at Safety (with the exception of the Ravens game) has been a plus.

Getting Metcalf back rested is huge. I liked what they were doing in Detroit with him along with MVS and Thielen. Metcalf was moving around more from split to slot (I've noticed Rodgers moving him to the slot when he was seeing zone). The Texans play a lot of zone so I expect Rodgers to move guys around more to exploit them and try to catch them in man coverage. Moving DK around will cause the Texans to decide whether to cover DK or Muth on the inside. I also expect to see more pony from the offense. Gainwell and Warren on the field together also causes some issues. They are mostly the same style of running back so Rodgers a run a tempo offense with them as well. Gainwell is a best in the slot and can flop with Warren. I also like the Steelers rush vs the Texans defense. This has a lot to do with how the line has been blocking and setting up the run. Both Gainwell and Warren are excellent at taking a fraction of a hole for positive yardage vs what we have seen from Najee. The pass rush might get home to Rodgers a couple of times tonight. They are that good but I hope the offensive line can step up like they have weeks past.

I thought I read Mills was a non-injury scratch. Didn’t make the trip.

He didn't because of personal reasons. I don't know who the backup qb will be. They might need him.

I think the winner of this game will be the team nobody wants to play.

I think New England is more beatable then Houston.

I think what he's saying is that the odds of the Steelers winning twice in New England are not great, especially considering they had to force a ton of turnovers to win there by just one score earlier in the season.

Unless the Steelers were to look completely dominant in a win tonight, they would most likely be 5-7 point underdogs next week.

He’s supposed to rejoin the team yesterday or today. I just read that the team allowed him to stay behind an extra day with his wife and new born son.

I think the opposite.
I feel a win at home on Monday night against the Texans would be easier than winning in New England next week.

It wouldn’t surprise me if everything goes go our way tonight, but next week we won’t be able to do anything right looking like clowns.
That scenario has been played many times before.

I believe that this will be a defensive battle. The Steelers front four vs their bad offensive line is a solid win for the Steelers, but the Defensive line of the Texans vs the Steeler's Oline is a slight advantage for the Texans. Rogers gets the ball out quickly, so I don't see him getting hit often, but the Steelers are a one-dimensional team, run first, short throws, stack the box and be predictable. Tomlin turtles in big games going ultra conservative and the Texans D is going to eat. The game will be decided by 4 points or less.

Spot on.

I think our defense has to play great all night AND force 2 turnovers minimum to give us a chance because I’m very confident the Texans defense stifles a conservative Tomlin/Smith offensive game plan.

If our defense plays average we lose, if our defense plays below average we get blown out

Here’s hoping we eek out the win.

I think after Mike Vrabel coached team plays into Tomlins straight up wheelhouse.

Im literally pulling out every mojo stop possible tonight. Mom's 70's onion soup chip dip with 70's boxed old Dutch chips. 70's appetizer smoked oysters. Steelers last SB win chilli caso nachos and a 26 of Gibson's Finest, which will ride me through the ups and downs of the game. Im not even sure Tomlin can **** this up.
I've got the cost of a big drunk night with my buddy who has a golden ticket at Championship Sunday where the winner goes to the SB on the line. If the Steelers win a playoff game before Tomlin gets fired I owe him a drunk. Ill gladly pay.
