There is zero chance that Colbert wanted to trade up for Bush, that's a Tomlin pick, trying to get his LB that can cover other teams WR's in his Dollar General Tampa 2. I'm always putting more of the blame on the coach than the GM. IMO the coach says who they want the GM makes it happen. The manager of a restaurant isn't going to go buy the ingredients if the Chef says no.

That 5th year option would have a little over 19 million dollars guaranteed.

I think I’d side with you on this one.

You can’t blame the whole debacle on Broderick as Tomlin jacked him around his first two seasons.

He played decent 3rd, till injury. Had no injury occurred…… who knows his ability to date could be way better.

I always hate to see when we decline a fifth year option on a player…
That indicates a failure in your organizational process… either the draft process, player development process, or coaching failure… or all of the above..

We may get a glimpse as to whether the problem lies in coaching this year. No one was praising the developmental process from the previous staff. What has happened to Kevin Dotson (another thread) gives hope that Jones can be salvaged if healthy.

We kinda screwed Jones around, but his attitude didn't help either. When he played he ranged from serviceable to awful. I don't recall any games were he looked like a franchise tackle. I think coaching / scheme certainly played a part in that, but I agree that he should be on a prove it year
