Pickens>all other Steeler's WRs

Basically, if this guy touches the ball he brings it in.

Claypool.....Well he has overrated himself to the point that he simply is very overrated. By everyone.
Johnson. ....Our 2nd best WR. He gets the most targets ...now he simply needs to make the most of them.
The rest.......I would rather see one of them than Claypool trotting out there play after play.

I think one of the moves on offense is to sit Mr.Claypuff down for a game or two. Let’s take a look at Steve Simms and Myles Boykin and find out if they can make an improvement.
Also, let us see if the rookie Cal Austin III can open the top off the defense with his speed.
As for DJ, simply too inconsistent for my liking. I’m working Pickens into that no one spot making him my primary guy.
Also, need to use both Gentry and Muuuth more in this passing offense.

I'm all for seeing more 2 TE sets, I wouldn't mind trading DJ for a 1st rounder either, or claypool for a 2nd, especially if CA3 gets to see the field this season. Get on with the complete rehauling

Pickens is already head and shoulders better than Johnson & Claypool....and it's not even close. Claypool is an awful route runner and Romo pointed that out several times today and you could see exactly what he's talking about when he says Claypool is not helping his QB out there with the routes he's running. Johnson just has sub par hands....he's a good route runner but it's 50/50 for him.......when it comes to being able to complete the catch. Johnson has regressed back to his former self in 2020.

I'd like to see what we have in Calvin Austin III. He sure as hell can't be any worse than Claypool or Johnson.

Exactly this. Exactly.

Also, for the record, i am still very worried about Pickett having his *** kicked all day long this season negatively affecting the kid's development. He's a bundle of energy but goddamn, you march his *** out into an abyss. Don't want to see the guy's confidence get wrecked cause the O Coordinator and the rest of the offense suck.

Miles Boykin gives us everything that Claypuff gives with size and speed, but Boykin must have better hands.

Maybe Claypuff should try catching with his feet.

They may have to try to play Austin but with him getting no practice in camp or the preseason, his chances of even making the 53 and getting a hat are slim. But, they may have to try something.

I’m honestly so done with Johnson! He drops multiple, sure catches in every game, often at critical times! When he does catch passes in critical game situations, he fails to drag his feet in bounds??? He is FAR from the AB clone they thought they were drafting, still being unpolished in all the technical areas that define great WR’s. He’s simply not a #1. Claypool is the softest of big men WR’s and benefited in his rookie season with designed plays for him, along with Ben’s ability to get him the ball and opponents’s lack of tape on him.

Steelers can lose just as efficiently with Boykin, Austin III, etc.! Johnson should become a casualty of the rebuild he spoke of, as well as Claypool! Load up on draft picks and build around the base of Picket, Pickens, Harris, Warren n Muth.

Regarding Freiermuth, I appreciate his potential, but based on Steeler’s lack of or inability to make him a major weapon in the game plan, passing on an arguably generational Center for him was a mistake. IMHO, a player that anchors your line and touches the ball on every play should be valued more than a 4-7 target player. The line should have been built with urgency and when it’s a strength, you grab a luxury piece like a field stretching TE if the opportunity then presents itself! No one can stretch the field if the QB has no time! But we have him, so him I’d keep at this point.

I had him making the roster before injury. If the odds are slim that will be less on him and more on coaching inability to make the proper changes/ decisions.

I think DJ is still the best all around WR, but drops are definitely an issue. Pickens has a great catch radius and if he can improve his seperation he will be great. I had hopes for claypool, but he is just not getting it done. With Claypool some can be fixed by coaching which we don't seem to have. I would give someone else a shot though. Heyward and pickett seem to play well together so i wouldn't mind him being on the field more.

Not that he won't make the roster eventually but when any young player has missed as much of the preseason as he did and goes on IR, he usually doesn't come back off. With Austin, the top 2 results I would think is they don't see enough from him since he did miss so much time and they put him back on IR for the rest of the year or he does make the 53 but rarely sees a helmet. I hope he is more option 3 where he looks good and keeps improving so he can get on the field and see more and more playing time. But, again, that would be the rare option. He may also get an opportunity to return kicks and that could get him a hat early on but I don't recall if he was a return man or not and since we didn't see him in camp or the preseason, there is nothing but his college tape to go by.

Never in my life will I include the word "best" when describing someone who can not do the most significant part of their job on a regular basis. I don't care what routes he runs, how fast he is or anything else. Its all useless if you do not catch the ball. That's like saying a guy is a good QB cause he reads defenses better than anyone and understands the offense better than anyone but he can't throw well. its all useless if you aren't good at doing the most important part of your job.

IMO. Johnson would get, at best, a 3rd in return. Claypool would get a 4th or later. They see what we see so let's not pretend they are top-of-the-draft talents.

Claypool goes ALL OUT on effort.

It is definitely time to reduce or mostly eliminate Chase's playtime and get Sims and Boyjin involved. Hell, I would rather see Vaughns over Claypool at this point.

Why do you think anyone - except maybe the Raiders - would be stupid enough to give up a first for DJ or a 2nd for Claypool after seeing them play?

When you are losing and your game is stopping drives you will get fan criticism. It is obviously bothering him, but that is the nature of fans VS players.

I like DJ and know he's capable of more than he's showing this year, but this is a loser mentality when you start coming after the fans.

"if ya’ll are so good, come out here and help us." We do help. Who do you think buys your jerseys and game tickets?

As you said, there's always the Raiders.

He's not even close to being the best. He can run and shift direction fast. I haven't seen him break anything big. He also goes down easy. He also drops a lot of balls. His sideline awareness with his feet sucks.

Pickens should hold class for him on how it's done.

Sorry but I think his attitude sucks. I'd move him in the offseason if it doesn't get better.

This season will reveal what some of these guys are truly made of and just how passionate they are about getting better and winning.

Nobody has broke anything big. Our longest pass play was 36 yrds by Pickens and Gentry had a 31 yrder for reference. DJs longest was 25. The sideline catches were near impossible yesterday I am not sure why people are so hard on him for those. He certainly did drop some drive killers though. I am also looking at Johnson as a whole, not just this year. Johnson has shown he can be highly productive while Pickens has only had 5 games so far. Here is an interesting article from a few weeks ago

Here is how it is calculated

Pickens has been coming on lately so it will be interesting to see how these numbers are now
