Strategy for the win in NY

I hear ya Vader. Thing is, that game was close 24-17 at the half. As it turned in BUFs favor in the second half, they were still held to 2 yds/carry and 68 total. In fact, the Jets out-produced in yards against most of the teams they have faced. Watkins alone accounted for more than HALF of the BUFs yards on 3 receptions.

They CAN play defense. It's hard to keep teams from scoring if it's your offense that is putting them in easy scoring positions too. They rank 8th in yards allowed/game. We haven't played a team yet in the top 20. Balt is 21st and Indy is 24th while...as bad as we have been, are 22nd.

I'm NOT trying to sound like Tomlin but these guys can play defense. Their offense on the other hand...they've given the ball away 18 times! 11 picks and 7 fumbles

I think most of that bad offense occurred before Vick and Harven were starting. They are both dangerous big play guys who can turn a game around if we get inconsistent on defense.

Not sure what a half time score indicates. They were still blown out at the end of the game. Their defense is good against the run but horrible against the pass. Does it really matter that Watkins accounted for more than half of Buffalo's yards on 3 receptions? Just shows how bad the Jets defense is against the pass. The Jets offense had 6 TOs in that game. The Bills couldn't rank up many yards because they had a short field. How can you blame them from not having many yards? Orton had 4 Td passes. What else could they have done?

That's the reason they rank 8th in yards allowed is because they turn the ball over on their side of the field then give up TDs through the air. Doesn't make them a good defense. If Kyle Orton can throw 4 Tds against them what can Ben do? The Jets have a good DL and decent LBs. So they stop the run ok. But their secondary and offense are terrible. No reason the Steelers shouldn't beat a team with no offense and only half a defense.

Somehow convince the players the Jets are 6-1 and not 1-6. Problem solved.

Have Joey Porter bring his pit bulls...

One was a pitt bull, the other a Mastiff, they had two separate incidences and if I remember right, were put down after the second one. But I say bring his new and improved ones.

Salute the nation

If we can go out and beat the Jets down like we should, that will be compelling evidence that it's not the same old Steelers, playing down to the competition. We need to score early and not take our foot off the gas at all. No mercy.

Cannot argue with any of this. My point is, we cannot take THIS game to reestablish our running game (game planning should reflect obvious deficiencies of team we are playing WHICH has not always been the case). I hope we come out with a similar attack as we have had in the last 2 games BUT play calling has been suspect in the past against perceived bad teams.

We should be able to score often with our deep threats on offense and we have no excuses but to perform in this one. THIS GAME to me will tell the tale of this team moving forward more than the last 2.

I totally agree. I wouldn't take any game to establish the run. I'd try to pass them out of the building. I'd score 60 points if I could.

We have the pedigree to go out and make splash plays. Obviously. We'll have to focus our energy to score more touchdowns than them and ride the wave. Obviously. After that we'll break out our super special QB draw them off-sides on fourth down play. I just love that one... Obviously

Run blocking use trap blocking vs Wilkerson @ Richardson, run tosses and sweeps, vs that DL hb dive and smash plays should be limited more zone read, counter toss plays to the outside with both Bell and Archer.
D blitz often play a S over Harvin, press on Decker, give Tuitt more reps esp if early they with Ivory or CJ are getting good runs with ease to the edge.

Feed bell and blount let ab create gaps for mb and heath, d disrupt pocket make vic make bad decisions. Game baby!

Dri Archer up the middle. They will never expect that...again.

hell with that,, let him pooch kick it... thatll really fool em.

Sit Cam Thomas. Win

The Jets have a stingy rushing D that's currently ranked 8th in the league giving up just 3.5 yrds per attempt and 88yrds per game. Just as long as Haley doesn't try to force his will with the running game and keep the play-calling like it's been the past several weeks, we win this one easily. Ben just needs to keep spreading the ball around along with the utilizing play-action fake and the Jets will be on their heels all afternoon which will inevitably open up the running game. The Steelers can only beat themselves in this one.

I guess it depends on how you characterize "blown out". They got hammered by the Bills 43-23 just 2 weeks ago. They've given up over 30 points 4 times this year and have only held one team below 24 points... and that was the Raiders in NY on opening day. Their defense is giving up a 63.4% completion, 24 Td passing to 1 interception. They may not give up a lot of yards but that's because their offense gives you the ball on their side of the field. They are 31st in points scored.

This is a seriously bad team that can't stop teams from scoring and can't score themselves. The offense is 30th in points scored. No reason not to pummel them this week.

Guess I disagree. They are not a bad team-they are a team plagued with turnovers- and the QB responsible for most of them isn't playing today. They have some things that can really hurt us-a mobile QB, a good running game, a couple big play threats, and a good pass rush. I' say an upset is as likely as a blowout and as in all our other games think we need 4 TD's to win. Hopefully our defense will evolve by next year like the offense has started to this year but till then I think nailbiters.

Lions, Packers and *'s beat the Jests by 7 or less. Not a gimme.
