Steelers D is rated 20th, which feels about right. But I was surprised to see that our rush D was ranked 6th. That is much better than I would have guessed.

We are gonna need it to stop Hill this week, as he has been heating up and destroyed Denver's D.

We are 25th in YPA... total yards is a smokescreen because A>) our secondary blows so people prefer to pass on us. b.) Our offense is good so teams must abandon the run quickly at times. and C.) in short field and short yardage situations the D is actually above average this season, so teams opt to pass in rushing situations in the tighter areas like the red zone.

none of that points to a good rushing defense, but if we choose to, we can eliminate one aspect of any offense, as most teams can. last week we sold out on the run and made Alex Smith try to beat us, and he couldn't. Im not sure we will sell out against cinci's run O the same way.

Denver needs more meat in the middle they did not make the proper adjustments vs Hill, thier interior lacks a solid NG

I think our defense has been getting better all year. It has gone from pretty poor to somewhat decent most of the time and at times pretty good. It is nowhere near what it has been in the past but it seems to be hitting more than missing of late. They already slowed Cincinnati once enough for our offense to stay in front. They held KC who were pretty good to 12 points stopping them numerous times. They have played decent for parts of games in the past but of late have been hanging in there. At this point I do not expect them to take over games like they have in the days of old, but they might just be good enough to get a few stops so our offense can get ahead of whoever we are playing, and that will be enough to win.
