I'm reminded of Woodley at this time . It hurt us. Love tj. But
Simple for the NFL perhaps. Just not simple for a team that goes by the beat of their own drum. They have a way of approaching contracts and their stubbornness with them is a double edged sword. It can work magic with money availability yet hinder the process of getting the pricier contracts locked down. In this regard it won't be simple for them if they don't tweak the guaranteed pay out. It is showing that front and center. I think there has to be some sort of middle ground. If I am the Steelers I roll out the red carpet for a new approach for a franchise QB (the next one), an elite pass rusher and Mink as I don't think the team easily finds another FS of that caliber. Somewhat of a case by case basis in regards to the mentioned. If you can lock them up without tweaking their approach sure. But if not get that *** into the lab and start mixing chemicals. This is about a simple a contract as you could possibly imagine. Joey Bosa plus inflation. I'm almost certain the issue is Watt is asking the Steelers to change some landscapes of the way they do business with guarenteed money. And they don't move on that ****.
Pretty much a stand up guy? What is he standing for? Sticking it to the team which drafted him in the first round, turned him loose in a 3-4, and helped make him a superstar? One game missed is one game too many.I don't seeing money corrupting him. He is pretty much a stand up guy. It just is a difficult contract with what his value is. No shocker just would have preferred it to be in the rear view mirror by now. But don't think it will be a significant amount of time missed. I see no more than one game......
Do you mean a 4 year extension on top of his option year? This is a money post. It's a 4 year deal and there is literally no way other than a catastrophic injury that ends his career that the Steelers won't fully honor 3/4 of the deal. So in my mind the Steelers are guaranteeing somewhere around 60-75 million.
The longer it goes the more it shows everyone it is about one thing for Watt....money. Just as it is for most players. A business. Get every last penny possible. Good for him if the Steelers cave. The guy is good but I don't see where he is the best in the league and should be compensated as same. Just like with Bell and all the others, I'd rather not see the Steelers break the bank on him and be hamstrung for years. Just my .02.
I don't think his current contract status defines who he is. I am not faulting him for trying to set up his future with the biggest contract possible. The Steelers wanted to get an extension done so can't buy into him sticking it to his team. At least yet. As despite not being a part of everything one would like on the field he is still there. So in that aspect it isn't even a hold out. There is past Steelers that have held out and returned shortly after doing so. I get it though you want him in the game playing, I want him in the game playing. Steelernation wants him in the game playing. Sure there is a certain element of greed involved, that is the industry. I don't want the guy missing any games either that would be irritating. But I do understand the process. I don't care for it but also can't pretend in some of what the Steelers do could be considered outdated. Not with the times. So ultimately both can share in the blame game until the time where it shifts to TJs camp primarily. Which is drawing near. But let us see what transpires before we get out the pitch forks.Pretty much a stand up guy? What is he standing for? It must be an incredible feeling to be under contract with your employer for an 8-figure salary, and decide it isn't enough.
Sorry. This is kind of worse than Bell's ordeal. Watt is under contract....Bell wasn't. It is about the exact same thing. $$$$$$I don't think his current contract status defines who he is. Yep. The same issue as with BellThe dispute may be about the amount, but I think more likely it has to do with not the raw amount of but instead the amount of GUARANTEED money. Watt does not care that the Steelers traditionally have their re-signed players play almost all of a second contract. He probably does not want that quasi-guarantee and instead wants an actual guaranteed contract for the first three years.
5 year deal. 4 year extension. The parameters should be same as Bosa. Here is where I am with this. He is most likely asking them to change their position on guarenteed money. and in 5 days he will be asking them to change their position on negotiating with hold outs and in season negotiations. The longer this goes on the more I think he might get traded.Do you mean a 4 year extension on top of his option year?

For tge record I don't believe Minkah will be worth this kind of money (obviously not the same amount but you get the point) or hassle next year.
Watt's current contract status is one year for $10,089,000. He is sticking it to the team because he didn't participate in any of the their preseason games. If and when he does hammer out a new deal, he'll be returning to the field in less than optimal football shape. Hanging around the facility is not honoring his contract.I don't think his current contract status defines who he is. Lol. We all knew that from day one. Watt's people also. Amazing the talk of it almost done is/was out there when from the get go this was going to be an issue. It was for Bell and now Watt. Next season Fitzpatrick. If Watt has an issue with it simply play out the contract you signed. Eventually once the Tags run their course he will be a FA. Greed is a *****.Sirius NFL Network with Bob Papa and Charlie Weis just said that Aditi changed her story this morning. Saying she was confident and comfortable last week the deal was very very close. Today she said is the guaranteed money is the problem. Steelers not guaranteeing after the 1st year which is par for their course, and TJ is looking for more guaranteed years.....
Bosa was 135. Watt shouldn't be more than 140.This is definitely a 5 year deal in the neighborhood of $150 million. It's all going to come down to how the guaranteed money shakes out and how much of it is upfront.
This is what I have been saying. The Steelers have an option year and 2 tag years as leverage. All part of the CBA. Hopefully, they are using it(their leverage) and stick to their usual rules of negotiating.Dude played all these years without a problem. **** man. Does he not think he will make it another 4-5 years? He's going to get retard huge life lottery money.
So sit out lose 10 million, get tagged next year, sit out and lose even more.
**** is silly. I'd let him play this year out and tag him next year. This team is ****** after Ben leaves anyway.
