The all hate Steelers team

Like most Yinzers, I was disappointed that they didn't take Marino.
There were a few mitigating factors since I'm old and remember stuff (Marino graduated from Pitt in 1983, I graduated from another local college in 1982)
1. At the time everyone figured Bradshaw had a few years left and he would recover from his elbow injury. He didn't.
2. Statisically Marino's senior year at Pitt was not as good as his junior year, due mostly to the fact that HC Jackie Sherrill left and was replaced by DC Foge Fazio. Foge was a good defensive mind but didn't know jack **** about offense.
3. Rumors that Marino was doing a lot of coke his senior year. May or may not have been true but I have never heard from reliable sources that it was true.
4. Rivera wasn't a bad draft pick and may have been a good addition to the team if he hadn't got drunk and paralyzed himself in a car crash his rookie year. He passed away last year.
5. Mark Malone was Bradshaw's heir apparent drafted in 1980 and may well have been a good QB but he tore up his knee in his second or third season and was never the same after that. The first Mrs. Burgundy worked at a sporting goods store in Cranberry in the 80's and he would come in all the time to buy fishing stuff. She allowed that he was always very nice, although he would normally wear a ballcap and sunglasses so people wouldn't recognize him.

Don't try to confuse me with facts, Ron. My mind is made up.

Cliff Stoudt. And I second Kordell. I have never cussed at another player even 10% as much as I cussed at that mfer.

But yet you probably cheered him on as "slash" or not? You don't get one without the other.

Yeah that was the thing. Wasn't his fault. I always thought he was doing the best he could.

Or that OC's kept getting fired or leaving under Cowher on an annual basis. Luminaries like Kevin Gilbride and Ray Sherman. We learned why Buddy Ryan punched Gilbride on the sideline when they were with the Bears.

Kordell, only player to have

80+ yrd TD pass
80+ yrd TD run
80+ yrd punt

How's them sweet potato's

As I've attested to.....grearest in "slash" role ever !!!!

Salute the nation

I agree about his slashing abilities i just thought he should be a WR with an occasional gimmick play thrown in. But no, he was a QB! Period.

I can't believe i missed Mike Mitchell. Between him and Ty Carter that #23 jersey has been pain. I mean that whole Garrard run thing. :(

Dri Archer!!!! That little SOB somehow tricked his way into the NFL. I have a feeling Terrell Edmunds is going to make this list...

Can't believe it took this long for Dri to be mentioned, lmao.

Ya Cordell wasn’t the most accurate of qbs to ever wear the black n gold but no qb ever ran the sweep like he did.. was truly a thing of beauty to watch. And given the cold hard facts about New England patriots cheating he could have took us to a Super Bowl and we can probably say without the cheating probably would have. I think you need a different qb in there. Blackledge was pretty disappointing beat out by a guy named bubby.

Kent Graham was the worst QB, hands down. He moved like he was molded in cement and Dan Rooney had a stronger arm.

That' why around most campfires he was more commonly known as Kent "cement shoes" Graham.

A-N-D

He was worse than Neil O.

I want to name Chris Kemoeatu. **** that fat retarded ****.

Edit: Man, I didn't know there was a censor still. I am also surprised to find out that this board is full of PC lefties.

How can we forgot of the never dressed or used Senquez Golson? I still think he was a ghost and vanished into the night.

Don't forget the Philadelphia Eagle sweat pant model as well...........

I was told by a source with many NFL connections and expertise in drug testing that (without mentioning his name but letting me know who he was talking about) Marino failed a drug test during his NFL career but because he was the NFLs biggest star at the time, it was swept under the rug.

Not surprising, he was a known coke head at Pitt.

I'm glad Mike Hilton came out of it though (thinking of any positive from that debacle). What's weird is Senquez IIRC was pretty sturdy in college.

Good list. I would only take issue with Vrabel. He was pretty good but he had some REALLY good players in front of him. Went to the Cheats and was a starter for many years and played a little bit of TE too.
