The Coronavirus thread

Disrespect for authority by young punks aside, don't you think that minor acts of civil disobedience, like this, and small businesses opening up, are better than overt acts of violence against the governmental (employees)

That was an overt act of violence. He shoved a man into a pool of water. That's assault, pure and simple.

What do you say to these closed minded people who won't, WON'T, listen?
Tell them to give 50% of their money to their local church and if they don't HAVE a church, they can give their money to YOUR church and if they aren't willing to do that, then tell them to go **** their greedy little selves.

But, but, but there’s no proof that social distancing and the lock down mitigated the threat of the virus, TIm! Right???

Dipshit....provide proof that the lockdown mitigated the threat of the virus. Then provide proof that in countries like Sweden it did not. I'll wait.

HINT: There IS no empirical proof.

Also, keep glossing over the fact that I'm high risk. I'm an asthmatic. I take extra precautions the majority of us don't during flu season. I take extra precautions during allergy season. I'm taking them now. My choice to push out my PT has nothing to do with my ideas on where we are. The facts show, 80-90% of victims are over age 65, and that my wife and kids are at more threat of dying by being run over by a random herd of stampeding buffalo crashing through our front door than they are of this virus.

Can you imagine being that delusional though and what he feels like when he hits "send" on his 'gotcha' posts?

I read that 33.5 million applications for unemployment have been filed in the past 7 weeks.

Read that again. That's 1 in 5 of all people in the U.S. workforce.

People overlook - you've got say average 3 people to a family. So for each person who's lost a job, 2 more are DIRECTLY economically and emotionally impacted. 33.5 Million really means over 100Million Americans have been negatively, directly affected by unemployment. Nearly 1/3 of the country.

Let that sink in.

In his/her breathless attempts at 'gotcha!' moments at every single turn, he/she forgets about the logic and reason pertaining to that particular discussion.

**** (She + Him + It) is an idiot. Always has been. Just far more elevated now. What's most disturbing is it's becoming really clear that the saddest day of ****'s life is going to be when the lockdown ends. **** has been the biggest cheerleader behind the knee-jerk destruction of America.

I confess... I'm probably not going to take the word of Dr. "ZDoggg" too seriously either.

Just sayin'.

66% of new hospitalizations in people who were staying home-retired and unemployed
59% age 61 and older
96% had co-morbidities
Only 4% of them had taken public transportation

Think of all the healthcare workers who spend all day every day around Covid patients. They are not getting hospitalized. Grocery store and pharmacy workers who are around hundreds of people every day are not getting hospitalized.

I can go to Lowe's with 500 other people but I can't walk into the local boutique or coffee shop where I might encounter 2 or 3.

These restrictions make no sense anymore. They need to go.

I already did provide proof. When comparing Sweden to similar countries (controlling for variables), their death rate is 3 to 5 times greater. You dismiss that as coincidence?

What is the difference in reasoning behind state governments shutting down non-essential businesses and you choosing to avoid PT?

That's proof? What passes for science with you libs is really amazing.

Glad to see the Texas Supreme court ordered the hair salon owner released after the governor modified his executive order to remove jail time for offenders. Glad to see some places doing the right thing.

I keep waking up thinking this **** show is just a bad dream. It's not.

Still working like nuts, but they scaled us back a few days to recoup before about 20 million in merchandise starts rolling in when things open up. I've never seen so many cases of gloves and multiple types of disinfectant in my life. A big win for those manufacturers. Though some of those are from ******* China...cocksuckers.

Uh... You don't need to "control for variables". The cleanest, most obvious benchmark is deaths per 1 million folks. It doesn't matter WHERE the folks are, if they're all huddled up in somebody's living room, or spread out aaaaaallll across the country. Ultimately, deaths per million is the equalizing factor.

Sweden is doing just as well as the Netherlands, better than Ireland, UK, France, Spain and just about every other developed country in the world.

No need to try to **** with stats to show that Sweden is somehow suffering terribly. Out of 1 million of THEIR people, so many died. Out of 1 million of OTHER countries people, so many died. It seems, death is the controlling variable.

Yeah, not really. Sweden, Norway, Finland are contiguous, and Belgium, Denmark, the Netherlands are very close neighbors and long-time trading and travel partners. The death rates per capita for those six countries:

Belgium 73 deaths per 100k citizens
Netherlands 30.3 deaths per 100k
Sweden 28.88 deaths per 100k
Denmark 8.7 deaths per 100k
Finland 4.57 deaths per 100k
Norway 4.1 deaths per 100k

Further, two things you seem incapable of comprehending, Flog.

1. The quarantine measures will NOT, repeat Flog, will NOT prevent people from getting the ******* virus. The goddamn rationale for the quarantine was to spread out the time for the disease to spread so as not to overwhelm medical facilities. "Flattening the curve" was never meant to change the total area under the curve. By taking much more intelligent steps, Sweden's economy is vastly healthier, its working population is still, oh, I don't know, WORKING, and its approach worked. Also, it is not going to have the dreaded "return" of the virus since its population has already developed herd immunity - unlike the quaking lockdown gerbils.

2. The quarantine/unemployment/poverty approach is killing thousands, probably tens of thousands, very possibly hundreds of thousands.

Anxiety From Reactions to Covid-19 Will Destroy At Least Seven Times More Years of Life Than Can Be Saved by Lockdowns

Medical studies show that excessive stress and anxiety are among the most debilitating and deadly of all health hazards in the world. Beyond their obvious effects like suicide and substance abuse—these mental stressors are strongly related to and may trigger and inflame a host of ailments like high blood pressure, digestive disorders, heart conditions, infectious diseases, cancer, and pregnancy complications.

Based on a broad array of scientific data, Just Facts has computed that the anxiety created by reactions to Covid-19—such as stay-at-home orders, business shutdowns, media exaggerations, and legitimate concerns about the virus—will destroy at least seven times more years of human life than can possibly be saved by lockdowns to control the spread of the disease. This figure is a bare minimum, and the actual one is likely more than 90 times greater.

This study was reviewed by Joseph P. Damore, Jr., M.D., who concluded: “This research is engaging and thoroughly answers the question about the cure being worse than the disease.” Dr. Damore is a certified diplomate with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, an assistant professor of psychiatry at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University, an assistant attending psychiatrist at New York Presbyterian Hospital, and an adjunct professor in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at the U.S. Military Academy.

The data in that research are overwhelming and only somebody anti-science would simply deny the facts. The lockdown is killing people - a lot of people. More than the ******* virus.

**** the lockdown, **** China, and **** ***** lefties looking to use death as a political tool.

The problem with conspiracies is that on one hand we consider our politicians and government incompetent, yet we think they are brilliant enough to come up with a plan to conspire with China to crash the economy, ruin the lives of the majority of Americans, and microchip all of us for the purposes of political control. I don’t think you can have it both ways.

I can believe that they fell into this and are making an effort to exacerbate this for political gain, but no way is this all some master plan.

1. This will never reach 100% of the population... no virus ever does even in wide open scenarios
2. This is an acute virus... the idea that antibodies won’t be able to fight off reinfection is not correct.. read up on latent or persistent viruses... they exist through several methods without tripping the immune system or by inactivating it to get by... coronaviruses do not fit that genetic mold...
3. Millions have had this by now... the death rate is insignificant and the death rate among healthy individuals is so low it wouldn’t even be noteworthy without the hype...

4. This virus is killing off a lot of the vulnerable near death people... the worldwide deaths per day hasn’t even spiked high enough to matter.... typically two years after an illness like this we see a drastic dip in deaths because the illness culls the majority closest to death... this is no different than a flu cycle

5. There is little evidence this is chronic or can be reactivated... there isn’t enough data yet but the supposed cases are so few it borders on the zero figure proportionally and alternative explanations are more likely...

Here is some more info on the gold standard of pandemic modelling, Neil Ferguson -
Ferguson has a history of vastly overestimating projected death tolls.

During the 2001 outbreak of foot and mouth disease among cattle and sheep in the U.K., six million animals were slaughtered as a precaution after Ferguson warned the government that 150,000 people could die. As it turned out, only 200 died.

A few years later, during the 2005 bird flu epidemic, Ferguson warned millions could die, but the actual figure was in the hundreds.

Why is anyone making policy based on anything coming from this guy? Oh, he had some "help" from Bill Gates and MS to polish up the covid model -

Ferguson then claimed he was unable to publish his model until Microsoft began helping him sort out his code, in the last days before Bill Gates stepped down from the software giant’s board.

https://justthenews.com/politics-po...owns-resigns-after-flouting-social-distancing

Having this guy be the primary input to global policy makes no sense.
