The Coronavirus thread

We are in a 2 week phase one reopening. Bars, gyms, restaurants, and salons will open on the 18th. However, our city has decided to keep all playgrounds and dog parks closed through June. The parks themselves are open, but those areas are closed off. ******* GENIUS. Summer is around the corner and kids will want to go somewhere to play. They are already going nuts as it is. So let’s delay the opening of things kids can do in the summer. Brilliant.

The 66% that keeps getting referenced means that those folks likely got the virus from places that are still open, grocery stores, drug stores, dollar stores, gas stations, etc... An Aldis near me had to close, because nearly every employee had the virus. How many people do you think they passed it too? Walmart might be the leading virus spreader, since most Walmart's I see are jam packed.

Funny how the lockdown queens seem to still get a paycheck, usually from the taxpayer.

Cuomo, Pelosi, Schumer, AssholeOriginatingCrap, news anchors, and on and on - still getting paid, think the lockdown is ******* great.

Meanwhile, you think maybe people who are spending 97% of their time indoors, not taking public transportation, not working, not doing a ******* thing, not one ************* thing, need to stop buying groceries.

Yeah, just kill those people, they aren't politicians or news people, so they're not important.

Yes, the corrupt left is that evil and dumb. Don't believe me? Just listen to their hero, who is a hero for some reason despite personally overseeing the worst results on the planet with respect to the Chinese virus:

NEW YORK, NY — A testy Gov. Andrew Cuomo delivered blunt advice Wednesday to protesters who reportedly said they hadn't received their unemployment checks, were quickly running out of money and had to return to work.

"You want to go to work?" Cuomo said. "Go take a job as an essential worker. Do it tomorrow."

https://patch.com/new-york/longisland/cuomo-tells-out-work-protesters-get-job-essential-worker

Yeah, you stupid cab driver, or welder, or machinist, or retail sales clerk, etc., you aren't worth **** and should just shut up and die or vice-versa.

Sayeth Andrew the Great, King of New York.

More People Died From Suicide Than Coronavirus In Tennessee This Week
March 27, 2020 By Tristan Justice

Knox County, Tennessee saw nine deaths by suicide within 48 hours this week as doomsday predictions over the novel Wuhan coronavirus panics an already axious public and leaves millions unemployed and isolated.

In Tennessee, the crisis is taking its toll on those who were not physically sick but who appear to have fallen victim to the virus anyway. As of this writing, more people have died from suicide in Knox County than people have from the virus in the entire state, where there have been 6 fatalities from the disease, according to the Tennessee Department of Health.

SUICIDE vs. CORONAVIRUS DEATHS: Study Finds Coming Economic Crisis Could Lead to 831,600 Suicides! — That is Four Times the Number of Estimated Coronavirus Deaths

The US unemployment rate will rise to 15% from 3% due to the current economic shutdown in place across the country.

A study by Goldman Sachs in the paper this morning suggests unemployment will be soar to 15% from about 3% this quarter. That means from 27 million minimum to 67 million maximum will lose their jobs in the next three months.

According to this one study, at “1% increase in the annual unemployment rate, approximately 21 additional suicides per 100,000 of the population can be expected.” If that’s correct, each 1% increase in the unemployment rate in the U.S., with a 330 million population, will lead to 69,300 additional suicides.

Based on the current predictions, those 12 percentage points could lead to an estimated 831,600 US suicides.
That’s more than quadruple the top-end estimates of the China Virus deaths.

Shutdown Could Kill More Americans Than COVID-19
By Betsy McCaughey
April 13, 2020

Thursday's unemployment update confirms that over the last three weeks, nearly 17 million Americans have been laid off because of the shutdown. That's one-tenth of the nation's workforce. It's not just an economic fact. It's a public health disaster. If the shutdown is dragged on, as many public health experts recommend, it is almost certain to kill more Americans than coronavirus.

The academics and public health officials who have concocted models of the virus's spread are telling us that we have to continue the shutdown to save thousands of lives. But none of their models considers the deaths that will be caused by unemployment.

Before the virus hit, America's unemployment rate was 3.5%, the lowest in 50 years. Now Goldman Sachs predicts unemployment could spike to 15% by midyear. A St. Louis Federal Reserve economist grimly predicts 32% unemployment -- worse than during the Great Depression.

No model or guesswork is required to foresee the deadly impact. Job losses cause extreme suffering. Every 1% hike in the unemployment rate will likely produce a 3.3% increase in drug overdose deaths and a 0.99% increase in suicides according to data provided by the National Bureau of Economic Research and the medical journal Lancet. These are facts based on experience, not models. If unemployment hits 32%, some 77,000 Americans are likely to die from suicide and drug overdoses as a result of layoffs. Scientists call these fatalities deaths of despair.

Then add the predictable deaths from alcohol abuse caused by unemployment. Health economist Michael French from the University of Miami and a co-author found a "significant association between job loss" and binge drinking and alcoholism.

The impact of layoffs goes beyond suicide, drug overdosing and drinking. Overall, the death rate for an unemployed person is 63% higher than for someone with a job, according to findings in Social Science & Medicine.

Coronavirus-Related Suicides Surface Amid Increased Anxiety
Hotlines try to provide resources for folks.

Los Angeles is one place that witnessed an increase in suicide crisis hotline calls according to DailyMail.com. Didi Hirsch’s Suicide Crisis Line has received more than 1,500 calls about the coronavirus in March, which is 75 times more than the previous month. Didi Hirsch operates one of the largest suicide line call centers in the United States and they warned that the number of calls would grow exponentially over the next couple of weeks as people confront the realities of lost loved ones and lost jobs.

The group told DailyMail.com that the top concerns among callers have been anxiety, stress, fear of eviction, inability to pay utilities, unemployment, health concerns and losing loved ones to the virus.

“We’ve taken over 1,500 calls already in March just specifically related to the coronavirus and I do believe that will continue to increase,” said Lyn Morris, Senior Vice President of Clinical Operations for Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services. “Our history with things like this, like in the 2008 recession, the first couple of weeks it’s a little hard to gauge call volume because everybody’s in shock, taking care of their basic needs first. Then the weeks after are usually when we start to see the call volume really increase. Two weeks from now, we’re probably going to see a big increase as the fear, the anxiety builds, and as the death toll from coronavirus rises we would expect that.”

The charity collected data showing that among the 1,519 callers who talked about COVID-19, one in five communicated a desire to kill themselves. Anxiety or stress was the number one concern for 43 percent of the people, followed by health concerns for 25 percent, relationship concerns for 21 percent, and loneliness or isolation for 19 percent.

OMG. Do you understand what a representative sample is?

What this sample tells us is that staying home does not protect you from getting the virus.

OMG. Do YOU not understand what a representative sample is?

Cuomo referred to new cases. That is NOT a representative sample of everyone who was quarantined. The fact that a small percentage of the people who were quarantined still got the virus does not make the exception the rule. Staying at home doesn’t guarantee you won’t get the virus but it sure as hell greatly improves your chances.

So what is your point? Keep the largest virus spreaders open and make sure they are the only places people can go? So they are hella busy 24/7?

Makes a lot of sense.

No he didn't. He referred to new hospitalizations. The reality is we have no idea how many new cases there are that are asymptomatic or so mild as to not even require a doctor visit.

The issue is the number of people getting the Chinese flu who observed the lockdown, since if the lockdown ******* worked, that number should be zero, or damn close to zero.

It's not. Instead, two-*******-thirds of new cases are people who did not do **** except stay home.

Conclusion: Staying home does not prevent you from getting the Chinese flu. (Say it, Trog - SAY IT!! CHINESE FLU!!!) It almost certainly slows the rate (not the total number, which you don't seem to understand) at which people get the ******* virus, but that total under the curve is not going to ******* change. (Say it, Trog - CHINESE FLU!!!)

Since the purported "spike" (the uptick, not the flu-worried Spike) never happened, is not going to happen, and is long ******* past, it is TIME. TO. OPEN. UP. (Say it, Trog - SAY IT!! CHINESE FLU!!!)

Further, stop ignoring the number of people your policies are killing.

33% of the time it does.

you do realize that when people "stay the **** home" they still need essentials. groceries, toiletries, etc. if they have a dog, they may need to walk that dog.
so they'll either get from under the bed, leaving the security blanket and teddy bear to fend for themselves, unbar the door, wipe the snot bubble from their nose and venture out into the world. or they'll go online and request someone to come walk their dog or deliver their groceries. that person who delivers their groceries or walks their dog may very well be asymptomatic. and unknowingly pass that onto the people like you hiding under their bed, with a security blanket and teddy bear.

or, since this is in NYC - follow along here - essential workers can be in the same apartment building. so what, right? well, those people can go to work, stop at the store, etc. then they get back to that apartment building and by virtue of nature, their exhales can very well get trapped in the HVAC. since we've seen that this virus can survive in droplets of sneezing, etc its not that far beyond the grasp of imagination that the virus can also travel via air current through HVAC and infect others.

so we ALL either stay the **** home ... every ******* person ... or we do not.

one or the other.

or we let those in certain age groups who show the most resistance or least likely to become infected go to work, while we suggest to those at the other end of the spectrum to hang tight.

Nonetheless it’s contagious and doesn’t change what has been known about contagious diseases since time immemorial: Stay away from people and places that have it, and you won’t get it.

66% of newly hospitalized people followed orders and STILL GOT IT! Therefore, whatever the current orders are, ARE NOT WORKING. Why? Maybe it's because people cannot completely stay away from all other people indefinitely. It's impossible. People need to eat, whether they go to the grocery store or order it in or get takeout, there is some interaction with other humans at some level.

The reason the 66% (and the 18% who got it in a nursing home) is significant is that the vast, vast majority of people who are out in the world, working, taking public transportation, and are not one of the 96% of hospitalized people who have a co-morbidity, ARE NOT ENDING UP IN THE HOSPITAL! Therefore we do not need to restrict these people from doing these things.

Arguing the facts with you at this point is like trying to teach calculus to a retarded kid.

It really does not matter, at all, what facts we provide or the clarity of presentation, you are simply going to continue to eat chalk.

Excellent article laying out the facts relative to the idiot Cuomo brothers and Trump relative to the Chinese flu.

Americans who have remained engaged with the unfolding news about the COVID-19 pandemic surely know by now that New York is ground zero for the disease in the U.S. Like SARS, the virus came from China and infected the citizens of that nation first. In this case, China kept the contagious nature of this virus a secret from the rest of the world while they locked down Wuhan and banned flights to all other cities in China, yet allowed many thousands of people from Wuhan to travel internationally for nearly two months before alerting the rest of the world to its danger. It seems obvious that China had no intention of suffering the disease alone and purposefully sent it off to become a global pandemic. As soon as President Trump learned that a single case had been identified in the U.S., he banned all flights from China. For his trouble, Joe Biden and the rest of the left ranted and raved that he was racist and xenophobic. At the same time, the end of January, he assembled the task force to gather the facts, develop the science and advise him.

... In February, Gov. Andrew Cuomo was bragging about his city’s accessibility to foreign visitors. He called only for voluntary quarantines. As late as the end of March, Gov. Cuomo and Mayor Bill De Blasio were still welcoming tourists from around the world and encouraging New Yorkers to “go about their lives” without fear of getting sick. (In San Francisco, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was doing the same.) Gov. Cuomo had by then already driven his state into billions of dollars in debt. Still Cuomo was touting his state’s readiness: “This isn’t our first rodeo. We are fully coordinated, and we are fully mobilized, and we are fully prepared to deal the situation as it develops.” That was on March 2. He did not order a lockdown until March 25. Once Cuomo realized he was late to the crisis, he began complaining to Trump that he needed 40,000 ventilators, thousands of additional hospital beds, medical staff, and of course more money.

But New York’s medical preparedness has long been problematic. Doctors and nurses have been ringing the alarm bells for years about the shortage of doctors and nurses. It was several year ago that Cuomo declined to purchase new ventilators and instead developed a scheme to ration the existing supply. Young ER doctors are not interested in practicing in NY because it is so woefully under-prepared for a normal course of treating the ill and injured. No wonder that the governor began whining like a stuck pig once the full force of the virus’ attack on his city became evident. He began holding his televised press briefings, blaming the president for all his problems and, despite his many failures, somehow convincing the left-media of his competence. Trump sent him the Navy hospital ship, built two field hospitals in short order, each which were barely needed. Trump got him his 40,000 ventilators which were not necessary. The wholly ungrateful Cuomo takes and takes and publicly trashes the president. The word 'gratitude' is not in his vocabulary. Now he is telling all the volunteer medical staff who went to NY to help that they must pay New York income taxes for each day they worked in the city. Good luck the next time his state needs help. Cuomo is not a bright man. In fact, he makes Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump seem like Mensa material.

Worst of all was his executive order that COVID-19-positive patients be sent into nursing homes all over the state, leaving many dead, taking many of the employees in those places with them. Thousands have died. He defended this mandate saying that it was “not his job” to provide nursing homes with the items they needed to cope with the consequences of his order. He is not only not bright, he is an arrogant ***. Forty-eight percent of all deaths have occurred in NY and NJ. Ten states now account for 70% of all cases, 77% for all deaths. That anyone in the country thinks Cuomo is some kind of hero is a joke. Of the fifty state governors, he has been the most disastrous, indirectly responsible for the most deaths in the U.S. And now he is shocked that many of those who died were sheltering in place, locked in their homes. Being imprisoned at home is a sure way to reduce one’s immunity to disease but to say that out loud, as many doctors have, can get you arrested.

And then there is his idiot brother, Chris of CNN. The brothers obviously believe that CNN’s few viewers really care about their personal lives and sibling relationship. Chris, the dumber of the two, likes to run clips of himself working out and lifting weights in his office! He contracted the virus a few weeks ago and did his show from his basement but ignored the lockdown that his brother had ordered all New Yorkers to obey. When observed maskless and outside by a cyclist, he nearly incited a roid-rage incident. Rules and manners are for little people. CNN is a disgrace 24/7, its reporters the most unrepentant jerks at Trump’s press briefings. There is not a single serious journalist among them. Like the rest of the left-media, the NYT, WaPo, MSNBC, they exist for one reason, one reason only – to destroy Donald Trump. But even given this objective, Chris Cuomo is out of his league at CNN. He is like Lenny of Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men; he may mean well but just can’t get anything right. For example, for the first hour of his program Thursday night, he failed to mention or address the DOJ’s dismissal of all charges against Gen. Michael Flynn or the release of the transcripts Adam Schiff has held back for months that prove the entire Russia-collusion hoax was just that, a hoax that was and is the most treasonous political scandal in all of American history. Chris Cuomo is an on-camera news reader like William Hurt in Broadcast News. Chris has the job because he is the son and brother of two governors of NY. If not for his father and brother, he would not have a job in media anywhere.

As the left-media does consistently, they elevate leftists, no matter how clueless (think AOC) and relentlessly attack all conservatives. Had Obama accomplished half of what Trump has in three years, they would have already put him on Mt. Rushmore but because it was Trump who brought the economy roaring back, he must be destroyed. That is how they roll. And now they admit they want to use this virus to push their socialist agenda and perhaps finally see the Cloward-Piven strategy fully implemented. They love the virus and the lockdown. They will drag it out for as long as possible, the more damage, the better. Blue state governors, petty tyrants that they are, are anxious to force an economic collapse proving once and for all that they do not care, have never cared about the American people. They think like Stalin; one lost job is a tragedy, millions of lost jobs are a statistic they can use. For the left, the American people are just political fodder for their to-do list. That is why Gov. Cuomo was caught so catastrophically unprepared for the fact that NY became ground zero for COVIS-19 and why he has the blood of thousands on his hands. He forgot to remember that individuals matter, especially to their families; even those in nursing homes whom he assumed were expendable. As for brother Chris, he is the Fredo of the family. We need to feel a bit sorry for him.

Wait, what?

Ask the employees of the Tyson’s plant how not locking down worked out for them.

How many of them died?

How many of them have now permanently lost their job?

How many of them died?

How many of them have now permanently lost their job?

Waaaaait a minute, are you criticizing Governor Botox and the Lockdowns, or King Andrew the First?

What's that toll free snitch line number? You are in trouble now, wig.

So our dear governor just closed us down for another month. Said all of his reopenings were going to be science and data based. Really? What's the science and data telling him about June 4th? Why that date? It's completely arbitrary.

People are not going to stand for it.
Because the primaries are June 2nd silly
