We should do to China like we have done to OPEC. Start producing our own **** again. It is the worst mistake to ever become dependent on a communist country for anything. They're not our friends. We do not need them as much as they need us and our$$$.

I'd be working on cutting that cord in the near future.

Italy takes the lead now as China takes a rest

Italy Coronavirus: 10,149 Cases and 631 Deaths

Coronavirus mortality in Lombardy is now 8%, more than double Wuhan

ROME—The coronavirus has killed more people in Italy than in China over the past week. Doctors are warning that a shortage of beds to treat the severely ill could push the Italian death toll higher still.

In less than 3 weeks Italy has gone from just 3 coronavirus cases to the biggest outbreak after China.

Coronavirus has killed 5% of known cases, even higher in the worst-affected region.

Lombardy health system is completely beyond ability to deliver adequate care - hence rationing who gets ICUs

https://www.wsj.com/articles/italy-...lds-highest-death-rate-from-virus-11583785086

Italy has a very old population, but again.... the death rate for coronavirus is ties to how extensively its tested for... mild cases are commonplace but not noticed by the infected... we are in the midst of one of the worse flu seasons ...people even showing symptoms simply don’t think it’s anything but the flu

Again South korea, which is roughly the size of italy, a little smaller, has identified nearly 8,000 cases, but only has had 60 deaths... because they almost immediately tested 140,000 people with any symptoms or risk and found a metric ton of mild cases... lets not forget early tests gave false negatives too....

Italy, on the other had, had tested less than 1/3rd of the people South korea had, even as the virus spread in their country... they have identified 10,000 cases... but they haven’t done extensive testing... if they followed the same testing procedures south korea did they would be expected to have discovered 80,000 to 100,000 cases... much likevtge virus is likely much more widespread in the is than we realize yet...

Stats are for LOSERS

Parents or grandparents will be left to die in the hall because there aren't enough ventilators to go around to save them because of government incompetence, but they dont care.

What is the federal government doing to stem this crisis NOW!?

A godammed payroll tax cut isnt going to save them!, yet thats all this administration seems to care about.

The lesson we are learning, if you are over 60, this government considers you expendable to the greater glory of "making the numbers look good", rot in a cruise ship or quarantine tent for a month, just dont mess up our "numbers"

Oh yes, these are all voters, they will remember.

You know they aren't going to do the payroll tax. The Dem House will counter with PTO, extra unemployment benefits and more SNAP.

And then you can sell the poor folks all your hoarded asswipe on Ebay.

The virus isn't that dangerous. Our predicament is.

Our current predicament is CONTAINING the virus, not TREATING it. Once we haven’t contained it, then the predicament becomes treating it. And we don’t have the Big Brother capability that China has to control its populace and contain the virus.

Again, why is China’s stranglehold suddenly a predicament? Where was this sentiment when Trump was waging a trade war and you were in favor of imposing tariffs on goods that only China produced?

A lot of people recognize that what we have now is better than BernieCare though.

NATIONAL GUARD CALLED IN FOR NY OUTBREAK

National Guard heads to New Rochelle for coronavirus 'containment area'

Cuomo orders coronavirus containment zone in New York; major colleges close classrooms as virus spreads.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo (D) on Tuesday announced schools and places of worship within a one-mile zone of the city of New Rochelle will close their doors for 14 days, and National Guard troops will help deliver food and disinfect common areas inside the zone.

Health officials have reported at least 108 cases of COVID-19 in the area.

Any large gathering places within that containment area will be required to shut down through March 25, Cuomo said.

That includes Young Israel and several public and private schools, including three each from the New Rochelle and Tuckahoe school districts.

I hope Rob and Laura Petrie are ok.

People are dumb. I’m booking a vacation to Italy as soon as possible. Lower cost, fewer crowds.

it is a great time to book a cruise. do it for next year at a fraction of the usual cost. most cruise lines are offering a 48 hour cancellation. book it and if you decide not to go cancel within 48 hours.

The confinement of a ship bothers me. I need freedom to roam.

Cruise to Bahamas from Miami, $109 per person, Carnival, i just checked! LOL
So about $400 with all the trip insurances and whatnot taxes, pretty cheap

I've been waiting pages for a Liberal to step up and defend Communist China, to defend her raping us for trillions in trade, and for stealing our technology. Voila. Predictable. Just took longer than I thought.

Liberals loved Obama shipping our jobs overseas. Liberals are fine with trade that favors our enemies and other countries but not the USA.

This has always been a predicament. Just like the middle east shipping us nearly all of our oil was always a predicament. Until an emergency happened. And we got "woke" and said hmmmm...shoulda fixed this problem a long time ago.

Finally, to answer your first question, why is it suddenly a predicament, I'll refer you back to Videos 1 and 2 from Tucker that clearly you have not watched. I'm not repeating everything he lays out in there when your *** is too lazy to spend the few minutes watching it and even donating to this site you stink up.

The only cruise I would take,at this point, would be a European river cruise. **** the rest.

Some countries consider the USA as infected and you will be quarantined for 14 days when you arrive, lol

Nice strawman, Tim. Where do I defend China? I’m just stating FACTS. The trade war puts the cart before the horse. Suddenly you understand that.

You’re not repeating everything he lays out because you’ve been arguing against half of it. He sounds a lot more concerned about the virus than you do.

If that European river cruise happens to be on the Danube, I'd advise against it.

Hungary declared a state of emergency in the entire country due to the coronavirus, Chief of Staff Gergely Gulyás announced at the daily press conference of the Hungarian government's coronavirus task force. The Chief of Staff said that the move is necessary to avoid community spread of the virus.

The state of emergency (technically, a "state of danger") is a so-called special legal order defined in the Fundamental Law of Hungary which allows the government to introduce a number of extraordinary measures by decree and suspend the application of certain laws in order to mitigate a natural or industrial disaster. It remains in effect for fifteen days unless Parliament authorises the government to extend it.

The special legal order allows the government to halt air traffic or public transportation, order quarantines in certain areas (or even evacuations), restrict usage of public spaces, or even prescribe civil defence obligations or draw companies under temporary state control. (Once again, these are measures permitted by the state of emergency, not measures that were announced). Once the state of emergency ends, the specially authorised government decrees lose their effect as well.

Extraordinary measures announced by the Chief of Staff:

  • No entry into Hungary allowed from Italy, China, South Korea, and Iran, except for Hungarian citizens who will automatically be quarantined.
  • Restrictions will apply at the Slovenian and Austrian border as well; all air traffic, trains, and buses coming from these countries will be shut down beginning from midnight,
  • False statements concerning the virus will be sanctioned, just like the violation of quarantine orders,
  • Universities will only hold remote classes,
  • Outdoors public events of over 500 people and indoors public events of over 100 people banned - this does not apply to workplaces and malls, but does apply to cinemas and theatres.
  • No school trips abroad are allowed.
  • More measures will be announced later.

Stay far, far away from Italy

I am in Milan in the heart of the coronavirus red zone . I know we are all sick of hearing about it. I certainly am, but I wanted to share these thoughts because I feel like there is a lot of misinformation out there. Considering we've been in some form of lockdown for three weeks now (now drastic measures are being taken and we are quarantined at home), I feel like I've become somewhat of an expert on this. At least, this is my experience and what I've learned in these weeks.

We are fine physically (for now), but, mentally, quarantine conditions and the devastating news around us does take its toll.

To anyone anywhere saying, “Hey, it’s just the flu” or “The flu causes more deaths per year,” STOP.

The rate of transmission with coronavirus is much higher and none of us is vaccinated against it. Worse, it causes a type of pneumonia that can leave patients in intensive care for weeks. The idea that it only affects the elderly or those with immune disorders is also wrong.

No healthcare system in the world can handle the onslaught this virus brings with it, and we should not put our doctors and nurses in a position where they have to decide who gets the last bed in intensive care, who gets the last respirator.

The hospital down the road where my children were born has had to adopt a “selection protocol” whereby they decide who lives or dies, and this is something that hasn’t been enacted since World War II.

As someone who has been mired in all of this since Feb. 24. I would just like to give some advice to anyone in the world in an area where coronavirus is starting to ramp up. First and foremost, you don’t necessarily need to hoard toilet paper but you should get stocked up on your prescriptions. Primary-care doctors are at great risk of being exposed to coronavirus, so if they are taken out of commission (and even once the madness reaches fever pitch), it makes it harder for you to get the things you need. Also, once this is widespread, medical offices, hospitals and pharmacies are not places you want to hang out.

Finally, we are all soldiers in this fight. The less we are out and about, moving around, the more this virus dies out. We may have to be inconvenienced or have to change our habits for a while, but our actions have a direct impact on the lives of everyone around us, with effects that are felt far and wide.

Israel profiles Muslim flyers before and after 911. Same with Corona. I have a case 10 miles from me due to a construction worker returning from Italy through Charlotte airport. China is one thing as a Communist government, but no US politician has the political will to quarantine or ban travel to and from Italy with the huge Italian-American and Catholic population in the US. The Jesuits and Franco's Army would never allow it.
