The Coronavirus thread

We’re already at 170,000 and adding about 1,000/day. We’re well past 132k.

as usual move the goalposts when you’re wrong. Let’s recap. You smugly posted that people here were too dumb to do the math by asking what 0.4% of 331 million is. You did this because that would come out to about 1.3 million is in line with the horribly wrong models predicted. Your point was to say that we are too dumb to know that the experts were correct. Problem is that you loved the decimal point which I showed would result in incorrectly adding a million more people to the total. You were way off.

Then to save face you point out that the deaths are at 170,000 to imply that it is waaaaay more than the 0.04% rate. Well, that would work out to 0.05% which is pretty close statistically.

The 1 to 2 million estimate was the unmitigated estimate. 200k was the high end with mitigation. It looks like we will easily reach that. Where do get “horribly wrong”?

There’s a vaccine for the flu and we don’t otherwise mitigate other than to encourage people to stay home from work if they’re sick, and we’re only five months into Covid. Aside from that, I suppose it’s a valid comparison.

Having a vaccine and that many deaths seems way worse. We should have shut down every year, what have we been doing for the last 100 years . Also no one was ever counted as a flu death in a car crash......

I was talking to one of my customers yesterday and he told me that his wife's aunt passed away from a heart attack. They tested for kung flu and she had it, so that is what was listed as cause of death. This was in Michigan, but it happens all the time everywhere.

Q: Does anyone here know even one person who died from this virus and only from the virus, with no other underlying health issue? One day they're perfectly fine, then they get the "virus" and boom, they're dead. I don't. And neither does anyone else that I've asked that question to.

I bet Flog knows several thousand, personally.

you well know that initial models had huge death predictions that were consistently revised down. Niall Ferguson even admitted to the flaws.

I know of one elderly person, a friend's father, who died of it in a nursing home. He had Alzheimer's.

I know probably about 10 people now who have tested positive. I would say about 2/3 no symptoms at all, 1/3 mild cold/flu symptoms for less than a week.

No one hospitalized. No one with any long term adverse effects. Age range from 24-60. My friend works at a large nearby Penn medicine hospital. She said they have 6 coronavirus patients right now, none on ventilators.

This is an excellent point that should be hammered over and over again.

Oh, I remember the death toll being revised down to 60k and then... “Liberate!” and “Open Up!” and protests and here we are are. It didn’t have to be this way. The EU countries are dealing with daily surges numbering in the hundreds. A good day for us is under 50,000.

What’s so hard to understand about what happened?

New York and NJ medical resources ****** up royally at the the beginning of this pandemic. They put infected into nursing homes. They put infected hospitalized into same rooms as non-infected. Someone is hospitalized with stroke symptoms, and dies of Covid 2 weeks later. They also assured death sentences by intubating people needlessly. A huge fail on the part of NYC medical staff.

Fredo's brother was the poster boy for how not to mange a pandemic effectively, but very good at blaming others.

Thankfully, cooler heads have prevailed, and now we have some life saving strategies. One of those is the HCQ cocktail, which if not condemned by corrupt fools in medicine and the media, would have saved thousands of lives.

The US is pretty well in line withe Europe although cases here are now rising because we are testing far more than anybody else. The numbers are also being cooked here to make it look worse. That's not conspiracy theory. It's documented. If somebody tests positive and then a few days later they test positive again, that's 2 cases in the total. Then you have people dying in motorcycle accidents being marked as COVID deaths.

Some European countires locked down and some didn't. Sweden didn't and their numbers are in line with other European countries. There is no evidence that lockdowns did anything.

We should have opened up. The data suggests that you can't hide from this. It just has to run it's course. You keep the vulnerable safe and the rest have to live their lives. Sure, you can do masks and be vigilant about hand washing etc to lessen your exposure, but that's about it.

The lockdowns are about as effective as the drills school kids did in the 50s to hide under their desks in case of a nuclear bomb. Except that drill was actually useful because it gave scared kids some hope. Lockdowns are designed for the opposite effect, to demoralize people.

You can guarantee that there will be spikes all over the place as colleges open back up. The media will tell us the world is ending as they did about a month ago in Florida when they spiked and now they are coming back down.

The US would be looking a lot better if liberal governors like Cuomo, Wolf, and the clown in NJ didn't sentence people to death in nursing homes.

How do you feel about Cuomo bragging about what a great job he did on COVID in his convention speech?

Use those numbers. What’s .4 percent of 331 million? What did they say would happen if the virus went unmitigated?

Too easy. What is it with you guys and math? I mean, really?

You disingenuous ********, you got caught. In your gleeful haste to exclaim "I gotcha again!", you totally botched the math yourself. Don't try to tell anyone you considered 1,320,000 deaths to be at all on the path of a current 170,000 death total (a good majority of which is still NY & NJ); there would have to be a catastrophic setback in order for that to be even remotely close. Tape knows you're full of **** as well. Many others do too but they just don't care enough about you or the topic at hand to comment.

What a freeloading, dumbass troll Flogtard really is. Mods, I know you don't let freeloading trolls have avatars, but seriously consider this one for this turd:

I didn't watch, but I heard he referred to it again recently (may have just been a presser) as the 'European virus'. Seriously WTF does this guy get this ****? Nobody in the media or fellow lawmakers call him on it? Just bizarre.

So even with the extremely high bias on covid deaths, it’s still probably going to end up under Worldwide aids deaths for a typical year... so when exactly are the liberals going to suggest that all people infected with hiv be mandatory quarantined? Or make it illegal for them to have sex without a condom? Thats how this works now, right?

weren't you arguing that protests don't spread the rona? why, yes, you were.

fortunately, that image is associated with the freeloading douchebag regardless of having an avatar or not.

Yet again, here's covid-19 deaths yesterday, including some EU countries:

Spain: 24
France: 17
Japan: 16
Canada: 13
UK: 12
Germany: 9
United States: 1,358

Population of countries above: 426 million
Population of United States: 328 million

You're right, nothing to see here.

How many of those Covid deaths in the US also coincided with getting run over with a car, falling off a high ledge or overdosing on heroin? We already know if someone in the US has Covid and their chute doesn't open during skydiving, they are listed as a Covid death.
