The Coronavirus thread

If there are 10X as many undetected cases as detected cases....it's also LESS deadly. Countless numbers of Americans have had it and shown no signs, or have had it and attributed it to the cold or flu and got over it on their own. Many get CV19 and it does nothing to them or mildly affects them.

Yes, and while it being less deadly would be good news, it being far more contagious than thought would be very troubling news.

As far as how deadly it is, it’s being reported it killed more people in NYC in three days than the flu kills in a year.

Y'all might have never have heard this, just as Obama never followed up on it but we were warned AND given a path how to prepare and to to treat pandemics long ago.

President Trump addressed reporters in the Rose Garden and emphasized the need to make sure the government helps the airline industry recover. It shows great sportsmanship by Trump to want to save the airlines. After all, if air travel shut down, CNN would lose all their viewers.

I will state unequivocally that we will all die.

Prove me wrong!

Pffft, not me.

Great description of my view of death from Tolstoy's "The Death of Ivan Ilyitch":

The syllogism he had learnt from Kiesewetter's Logic: "Caius is a man, all men are mortal, therefore Caius is mortal," had always seemed to him correct as applied to Caius, but certainly not as applied to himself. That Caius — man in the abstract — was mortal, was perfectly correct, but he was not Caius, not an abstract man, but a creature quite, quite separate from all others.

Yeah, let's see. I'll take a link for that please. Not that NY is indicative of the rest of the country but I'll play your game.

So far the state of New York has lost 10,056 people to CV19. According to NYC.gov, the highest daily death total for NYC was 467. I can't find state-wide day by day numbers but according to JHU, New York County accounts for 6,898 deaths and the next closest county is 846 in Nassau county. So NYC is the big measuring stick.

The Worldometer site has been tracking this since Feb 15: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/. That's 58 days.

The CDC shows about 5,000 people die annually from the flu in New York. You'd have to have 1,667 people die a day to have more people die in 3 days in New York than the flu killed in a year.

Not arguing it hasn't hit New York like a hammer, but our top death day for the ENTIRE US was 2,035 deaths in a day. Today it's down to 1,528.

Not buying more people died from CV19 in 3 days than die from the flu annually in the state of NY.

I see that you conveniently left out the fact that the Chinese flu is racist, targeting and going after people of higher pigmentation more vigorously than the KKK.

People vote for that thing. Just think about that.

maybe new yorkers are just weaker than the rest of the country. why are so many dying there but not elsewhere?

Trump just absolutely crushed the media narrative at the daily briefing. He laid out a timeline of the nation’s Coronavirus response, then played a video of the media downplaying the virus. CNN and MSNBC cut away, with CNN calling it a propaganda video. Like what they spread every damn day isn’t propaganda. Best media takedown he has done to date.

Dude, it is all over Twitter. I think Victoria Taft has it on her website.

Sent from my iPad using Steeler Nation mobile app

I heard it on my way home from work.

the media will first try to say Trump didn't take it seriously but that is easily debunked with the media's own words as we've seen. The next phase will be to paint Trump as a greedy capitalist who is re-opening the economy and putting people in danger.

Trump may have already destroyed this tactic as well. Trump says that he, the President, has the power to end these lockdowns. Of course the media has the knee jerk reaction of taking the exact opposite position and saying that it's up to state governors to make those decisions.

So now if a state stays shut down, it will be the governors who take the heat. If a state opens up for business, it is the governors who "have blood on their hands" if a single person dies.

so is it just bad luck that 9 of the top 10 states in total deaths and in deaths per 1M people are led by democrats?

That's the way it was planned from the start. They would have boiled him if no action was taken in light of the over inflated numbers given by experts. Now after we know more about the disease, seen actual numbers, yet some states probably make death by jumping off a building, COVID-19 related, and we're more prepared with supplies, it's time to give the states the call. Hopefully the governors will give localities the call.

I do support keeping the border lockdowns in place for now.

I thought press conferences were stages for the press to ask questions not tell the president what he can and can't do. What a joke from a group that obviously thinks they are in charge of running this country.

The rebellion is already starting. And not soon enough.

That's for sure. We find out more facts everyday and they all seem to point to overreach, partisan politics and the traditional TDS fallback.

As if the numbers weren't proof enough that we are being played, we get the typical Democrat counting methods to accentuate them.

Yeah hamy....it's time to lock and load

Just a reminder -
According to an estimate by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there were approximately 45 million cases of the flu in the United States during the 2017-2018 influenza season, resulting in an estimated 810,000 flu-associated hospitalizations and an estimated 61,000 flu-associated deaths.
It also killed more children than in any non-pandemic year on record, 172.

In the 2016-17 season, there were an estimated 29 million flu cases in the United States; and estimated 497,000 flu-related hospitalizations and 38,000 flu-related deaths. (For comparison, 36,560 people died in car accidents in 2018 in the United States.)

The CDC reports that “between 291,000 and 646,000 people worldwide die from seasonal influenza-related respiratory illnesses each year.”

The U.S. has surpassed Italy as the country with the highest number of coronavirus deaths with nearly 22,000 recorded by early Monday and 554,007 cases, according to left-wingNBC News figures. Worldwide, the death toll is more than 114,000, and the number of confirmed cases nears 1.9 million, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Isn’t it strange that this season there are hardly any flu deaths? They are all magically called CV19. Pneumonia has been wiped off the Cause of Death list.
Still considering the numbers from the 2017-2018 influenza season the COVID 19 numbers are nothing.

And I don’t remember any lockdown or school closures during the 2017-2018 season?

https://conservativeus.com/flu-brok...ied-from-fly-no-school-closures-no-lockdowns/

Imagine what those flu numbers from 2017-2018 would have looked like if they had counted them like they are counting COVID-19?

They had more important things to focus on, like the Russia investigations and Impeachment. I'm telling you this was all politics from the start. Look at the players involved, look at the objective. Trump did what he had to do based on the numbers given so I can't blame him for that, but I think folks are waking up to what the hell has been going on, a really nasty virus that affects mostly folks with underlying conditions and an opportunity to take advantage of a crisis. What really played their hand in my eyes was when they tried to get all their agenda items into the stimulus bill and the fact they did not take a real vote in it in the House. Watch that they try to do it again before this is all over.

So lets get this thing back up and running again. If you get sick, you should have plenty of chicken soup in the pantry by now.
