The Coronavirus thread

This is what gets you in trouble Elfie. Instead of contributing something worthwhile, you play this stupid game a trying to match wits with those who are your intellectual superiors. I say this with compassion, and a sense of pity. But, if you think another vacation will have made an indelible impression on those here that ridicule you, then you are destined to repeat your shameful behavior.

What a compassionate and sympathetic person. Thanks for the unsolicited advice.

Unlike many other states, even NY, our dear governor in PA does not seem to have any data based criteria for when anyone can open, when areas can move from red to yellow to green. It's basically just "when I say so." How the hell is that legal?

Duly elected governor with emergency powers, perhaps? This is what happens when there is no leadership at the top- 50 governors going in 50 directions, each doing what they feel is best for their state and all its residents.

As it should be if the Governors are competent. You would be bitching if Trump did not let them make their own decisions.

Having one national policy for all 50 states would be idiotic, considering the differences in population density, types of workplaces and living conditions, public transportation use, even the varying dates of the onset of the pandemic in different areas.

Our duly elected governor is not a king.

And what he's doing is far from best for anyone. 90% of deaths in our county are in nursing homes. Yet we're sending sick elderly covid positive patients to nursing homes while locking healthy people in their homes.

Great plan.

Trump had no idea what the **** to do but thankfully the governors stepped up. IMO a little competency is better than none at all. The big orange moron also did not "let" the governors do anything except cover his lame too-scared-shitless-to-do-anything fat ***.

How's that for bitching?

TDS flare up.

I'm no fan of Trump but I do remember the collective wailing and gnashing of teeth of Dems when he said he was going to make a unilateral decision on reopening. Of course when he backed off that and did what they wanted they immediately started bitching that he doesn't have a national plan.

Trump may be a moron but Dems are nothing if not predictable.

I believe it was the President's own medical advisors who were gnashing teeth and wailing over his desire to unilaterally reopen the nation. He appointed Democrats?

No, it was mostly the media.

(Which is interesting because many of these outlets and you yourself seem to have no problem whatsoever with governors having total authority in an emergency, but when a president said he did you all lost your ****).

And now they're wailing and gnashing their teeth daily that there is no federally controlled plan for all 50 states.

"He's not a king! He doesn't have the authority to tell us what to do!"

"He's not telling us what to do! He's only giving us guidelines and he's not forcing them on us!"

Which is it this week?

Seriously, why feed trolls?

I could put that rotten snatch on ignore, but I'd still have to see all your responses. Please stop.

It has serious issues.

Could it be that there is a role for both states and the federal government?

Be advised that simply stating a fact does not mean one (me, according to your post) automatically agrees with stated fact. Sometimes one has to accept things as they are, not as we want them to be.

Did anyone else watch PBS last evening? Excellent fact-filled explanation of the genesis of the COVID-19 pandemic. It always helps to thoroughly understand one's enemy and not leave it up to some 24/7 talking head to decide what's best for me.

Why no, I'm terribly afraid I missed it as I spilled some tea on my trousers (it was quite the kerfuffle last evening), and was occupied getting them ready for today's events. Do tell though old chap, I'd be terribly chuffed to know what those chaps had to say as I enjoy my morning tea. Jolly good.

Those chaps asked "Who is the twit that wants to be a rock star?"

You asked.

Oh this is going to be fun for the brief time you're here, again. You wouldn't know humor if it hit you in your, um, hermaphroditic parts.
